Psychic Enchantress

Chapter 32. Missing Part 2

Mason’s POV

Xayla’s missing and it’s all my fault. I sent her a text last night telling her that I wanted to talk to her. So I came over and we sat on the porch. She was cuddled up in her sweater and I in mine. I stayed with her for about thirty minutes then I went home. If I hadn’t come by she wouldn’t have come outside. She would be still here with us. I should’ve watched her go in and lock the door before I drove off.

Fuck. I’m such a dickhead.

I listened to Kalina explaining to the detective about the scientists that kidnapped her earlier this year to perform tests on her. The detective laughed at the part when we told him she’s psychic. He said that there are many psyhics all around and they’ve never been a threat so why would they take her. It was because of her eye color but we didn’t tell him that.

“Where’s the location of this facility where you think she’s contained?” He asked Kalina.

“John Hopkins, in Florida.” She told him.

“Okay i’ll contact their local police station about the issue and we’ll see if we find her there. ” he replied. “Don’t worry, we’ll find her.” He reassured.

You better find her because I don’t think I can live with myself if anything happened to her that’s life threatening. It would be all my fault.

The detective got off the phone and turned to us.

“Okay everything is going good so far. They’re going to search the facility.”

“Okay thank you.” Kalina smiled.

“I’ll let you know if anything comes up.” He told her, putting his hand on her shoulder. With that, he left.

The minute he left Kalina broke down crying.

Why do I always get stuck with the crybabies. Can’t they just hold back their tears. Xayla’s a crybaby but she’s one adorable cry baby though.

I stood there feeling awkward looking upon Kalina crying her eyes out.

“Its all my fault.” She cried.

I grabbed her shoulders and turned her to face me.

“Look, it is not your fault. They were coming for her anyway. It was only a matter of time.” I insisted.

“But...” She continued to cry.

I brought her in my arms and hugged her. It felt really awkward but I pushed it aside. Its Kalina’s sister so if she’s in pain, Xayla would be too. So I did my best at trying to comfort her.

“You are not good at this.” She sniffed, looking up at me.

“Its worth the try. ” I shrugged.

“She let go of me and walked to the kitchen. I saw roses in a vase on top of the island and I couldn’t help but wonder who they were for. I walked over to where it was and saw a card attached to it.

From your secret admirer.′ It said.

“Hey are these yours?” I asked Kalina who was drinking a bottle of water.

“Oh I wish. Those are Xay’s.” She giggled.

“Xayla? Who gave her these?” I demanded. I felt my temper beginning to rise. Breathe Mason.

“I have no idea. Some mail guy dropped them off a week or two ago.” She shrugged.

I swear if its Jake, i’m gonna beat him up so badly, he’s gonna have another dimple.

It was probably lunch period at school so I drove over to tell them about Xay’s disappearance.

I saw them sitting at our usual table but someone new was there. He looked like that guy Chloe had a crush on. Oh right, Theo. I instantly don’t like him. Well I don’t like anyone.

I walked over to where they were.

“Hey where have you been man?” Jake asked getting up to give me a arm hug. I shrugged him off.

“Leave.” I demanded, my gaze on Theo only.

Theo looked around at the faces of my friends, well Xayla’s friends and turns back to me.

“Umm no.” He looked at me incredulously.

Clearly this guy doesn’t know who I am. Xayla’s missing, some guy sent her flowers who apparently wants to steal her from me and this boy is intruding in my personal space.

I laughed and realized that the cafeteria had grow quiet, all eyes on me.

“Mason, he sits with us.” Chloe sighed.

“I sit with you guys and he is not included.” I fumed.

“Hey man, just relax.” Jake said calmly.

“Don’t tell me what to do” I grunted. He had the nerve to talk to me. Trying to come between me and Xayla. I know we’re not together but we’re almost there. So I don’t need anyone coming between us.

“Is either you sit down or just leave because I am not getting up.” Theo amused.

That’s the last straw. He’s dead.

I grab him by the neck of his shirt and gave him a right punch that connected to his jaw. With that he passed out. Weak ass boy. The cafeteria got loud immediately after he fell to the ground.

It wasn’t my intention to let him pass out but I just got so angry knowing that its my fault Xayla’s been taken away. I guess I was just taking my anger out on him. I still wouldn’t like him otherwise though.

“Mason you fucking psycho!” Chloe shreaked crouching to Theo’s side. I never saw her angry before and I didn’t like it. She was always the one smiling. Cynthia was the one to get upset and curse at me.

I looked at her furrowing my eyebrows.

“I’m sorry Chloe but he had it coming. You should know I don’t sit with just anyone."

“You shouldn’t have done that though” Jake scolded. Who the fuck does he think he is.

I stepped up to him and scowled.

“What are you gonna do now? Punch me next?” He asked.

I shook my head and looked back at Xayla’s friends. “Elena has gone missing.” I gritted through my teeth and walked away from them. I saw Cynthia’s mouth drop, Chloe head snap up from checking Theo’s pulse, Evan looked confused and Jake, well, fuck him. I can’t believe I call him my best friend. Trying to steal Xayla from me. We grew up together so he should know how sensitive I am.

Before I went to my car I stopped by the nurse’s office.

“A boy fainted in the caf. I think he has a concussion.” I told her blankly and walked off.

I didn’t mean to punch the guy but he literally had it coming.

I drove back to Xayla’s house and called my dad, telling him that I needed his help. He’s one of the best lawyers in the city so I expected him to do a great job in suing those geneticists. Well that’s if they find her there.

I looked in my rearview mirror and saw Jake’s car. I rolled my eyes at that. I parked in the driveway and got out the car. I looked back to see Jake parking and two other cars driving down the road who I recognized to be Evan’s car and Chloe’s.

I went inside the house and told Kalina that we have company. She didn’t like that because she wanted to be alone to wait for the call in peace. I sat on the couch and rested my head back, closing my eyes.

I blocked out whatever talking that was going on between Kalina and Xayla’s friends. I really didn’t want to hear the entire story over again. I also doubt that she told them that Xay’s psychic.

I wish I could just go find her myself instead of waiting here feeling useless.

I snapped my eyes open and realized that I was now eighteen. I grabbed my phone and wallet and got up.

“I’m bringing her home.” I assured Kalina and walked out the door. She began asking questions but I ignored them.

I drove straight to the airport and got on the first flight to Miami, Florida. I texted my dad and told him where I was going and he didn’t argue with me. I knew he wouldn’t because he couldn’t talk me out of it.

I’m coming for you Xayla.

You’ll soon be safe in my arms, where you belong.
