Psychic Enchantress

Chapter 33. Rescue Mission

Mason’s POV

My father met me at JFK with my passport and Xayla’s like he promised and I was on my way.

While on the plane I took the time to go through my plan. Then I realized I didn’t have any. I don’t even know where John Hopkins is. I should’ve thought this through before acting on inpulse.

Okay maybe I can just rent a car with GPS and it’ll take me there. Hopefully they have a defense store so I could stock up with knives, in case one of those spys decide to take hit on me. I was still trying to avoid hitting or killing anybody though. I promised my dad I wouldn’t so any thing rash. But if someone tries to jump me, am gonna fuck them up.

The plan. Get in, knock a doctor unconscious, take his clothes and get into disguise. I planned on studying medicine so this would be fun pretending to be a doctor. This is going to be so easy.

Around three hours later I arrived at Miami International. I went through immigration without any problems even though they questioned me as to why I didn’t have any baggage.

I took a cab to the nearest car rentals shop and rented a BMW. Its best to not stand out. Is this what you call not standing out Mason. I could hear Xayla saying that to me. I laughed a little at that. A guy’s gotta drive in style.

I turned the GPS on programmed it to take me directly to John Hopkins. I made the wrong turn a few times but eventually I got there.

I walked in and went straight to front desk to see a blonde lady.

“Hello is there something I can help you with?” She asked politely.

“I’d like to see a doctor please.” I stated.

“Oh is there a special doctor that you’d like to see or a general practitioner?” She questioned.

“General.” I hurriedly say. Time is going.

“Okay please fill this form out and wait right there. A doctor will be with you in a minute.” She smiled, handing me a form on a clip board.

Seriously. I hate filling out forms. I’ll just fill it out with pure lies. I’ll go by John Brown who thinks he has a STD. Perfect.

I filled out the form and gave it back to her and took a seat.

I tapped my feet impatiently, looking around just in case I see Xayla passed out on a gurney. Sadly I didn’t see her.

“Brown?” I see a male doctor call. I looked around the room to see if there was anyone by the name of Brown then I realized that that was my fake name.

“Oh yeah here!” I got up, walking to him.

We’re the same height but he’s a bit chubby. It’ll work.

The minute I walked in the room with him, I looked around for cameras but I didn’t see any. Turning him around, I gave him a punch on his right cheek and he passed out. Works every time.

I quickly stripped my clothes and his. I put on his black slacks, white shirt and his white coat. I left his shoes because I was most definitely not putting them on. One word. Germs. I put his stethoscope around my neck and ran a hand through my hair. I put my clothes in a bag I found and locked the doctor in the changing room.

I peeked out the door to see if the coast was clear and if the cameras were pointing at the door I was behind. They weren’t so I quickly closed the door and walked down the hall.

What next? Shit I never thought i’d get this far so I didn’t plan anything else.

I looked at the board that showed the operation rooms that were in use and wrote them down on a notepad the doctor had in his coat.

I got on the elevator and went on the second floor. I looked in every operation room but they were empty. There was only one left on the floor so I peeked in and saw a group of doctors over a person, appearing to be passed out. I sneaked in trying not to be seen. I put on the mask they had and I peeked over to look at the face of the body.

Whew! Not Xay.

I walked out quickly but someone touched me on my arm and stopped me.

“Hey...Dr....Davis?” The other doc asked looking at the name tag on my coat.

I guess that must have been the doctor’s who’s clothes I stole name.

“Yes that’s me. I’m sorry I intruded. I’m actually looking for the room they’re holding Maguire in. I misplaced my pager earlier.” I said calmly.

“Oh, Maguire’s on the third floor.” He replied, giving a small smile. Wow this guy is so gullible.

“Yeah thanks Snow.” I replied, checking his name tag.

I walked away as quickly as possible, getting on the elevator down the hall.

This is it Mason. This is your only chance at saving Xayla. I’m not surprised the police didn’t come by as yet. It wouldve took them up to three days to check the place out.

I stepped out the elevator picking up my pace. I looked in each room but I only saw people who weren’t Xayla. Snow told me it was this floor so why can’t I find her.

I looked in the last room and I saw girl strapped to a bed with blindfolds on. She had dark brown hair with blonde highlights like Xayla. I stepped in the room and thankfully she was the only in there.

I walked over cautiously to the bed and looked at the girl.

“Xayla?” I asked, hopeful.

No answer. I looked around the room for her chart board and found it. I scanned it and I saw her name. Under it I saw that they had a cover up sickness there. They held her in plain sight. No one would’ve guessed it.

I rushed over to her bed side and quickly undo the cuffs around her ankles and wrists. I stepped cautiously closer to her and lifted her head gently and undo the gauze they had put around her eyes.

She looked extremely pale. Its like she was about to die. I heard the machine beeping so that signifies that she is definitely alive.

I heard talking outside and the door handle jangle. I quickly hid in the changing room and listened.

“Someone came in here. ” I heard a doctor boomed.

“Let’s just tie her back up and investigate later.” Another voice said.

The man grunted in response.

The minute he put his hand on Xayla she woke up letting out a piercing scream. I had to cover my ears. I looked through the crack in the door and saw her sit up in the bed.

“Sedate her!” One of the doctors shouted.

The other doctor went for a needle and he stepped closer to Xayla while the other doctor held her down.

Xayla raised her hand towards the doctor with the needle and he went flying across the room. She turned to the doctor still standing by her side holding a shocked expression like myself. She pushed him with her hand and he too went flying. He hit the wall behind him and he passed out. I know for sure she couldn’t do that with her tiny frame. Something’s up and I have no idea what.

“Whoever is in the changing room, get out. I know you’re in there.” She threatened.

I pushed the door slowly as possible and raised both my palms facing her.

“Xayla its me” I said calmly.

She raised her hand towards me and I felt like someone was choking me. I couldn’t breathe at all. I used my hands to claw at my throat to remove what was there but I felt nothing.

“Xayla please its me, Mason” I tried to say but it came out muffled.

She got up and walked towards me still holding her palm out to face me. I was now against the door of the closet and I felt like I was about to pass out. She came up to me and looked up into my eyes. Its like she was Xayla but she wasn’t. She looked so pale its like she was on the brink of death. Another thing I noticed is that she looked extremely angry. Her eyes glowed the brightest shade of purple fused with blue and pink. It looked odd against her paled skin.

“I know no Mason.” Her voice came out as a croak.

“Look..into...my...eyes.” I pleaded as hard as I could. I felt my body go weak under her hold of me.

She gazed into my eyes for like five seconds, and she let her hand fall to her side. My body fell to the ground as she did so. I coughed trying to get enough air into my lungs.

“Mason.” She whispered but it came out like a cry.

I stood up and reached for her hand.

“Its me.” I said giving a peck on the back of her hand.

“Maso...” Before she could finish what she was about to say, she fainted.

I lifted her up and put her in the wheel chair I saw in the corner. Before I left with her, I checked the pulse of both doctors and luckily, they were still alive.

I went on the elevator with Xayla, holding her shoulders so she wouldn’t fall. The elevator made the ‘ding’ sound signalling that we were now on the first floor. I dashed out finding the exit to the back of the hospital. It was pretty hard to find but eventually I did without running into any other doctors or nurses.

I made it outside but a man I realized to be the driver of the ambulance parked beside him, was taking a smoke.

“Hey what are you doing outside with her?” He questioned coming over to me. I stepped around Xayla making sure she didn’t fall out the chair and punched the guy in the center of his face. He fell to the ground and I quickly pushed Xayla to where I had parked my car. I lifted her up out the chair and placed her in the backseat to lay down. I went back to retrieve my clothes where I had stashed out the window. I grabbed them and went back to the car.

I turned the A/C on and left the parking lot of the hospital.

I drove as far away as possible and parked in an abandoned location. I changed my clothes in the car quickly. Luckily the windows were tinted. When I was through I stopped by forever 21 and bought a jeans, a blouse and shoes for Xayla. I left her in the car with A/C on and a note saying I was in the store in case she woke up. I cashed the clothes and went back to the car to find Xayla awake and I checked for any sign of a concussion with a flashlight I had in the coat of Dr Davis.

“You don’t have a concussion so that’s good. Put these clothes on.” I smiled at her.

“You bought me clothes?” She amused.

“Oh so you wanna walk around with your butt showing in that dress?” I joked.

She giggled at that. At least even under all that paleness she’s still my Xayla. I don’t know what happened back there but we’ll figure that out when we’re back in New York.

I got out the car and gave her privacy to change. She’s probably hungry as well so I’ll probably stop and buy something closer to the airport. I heard a knock coming from the window signalling that she was through changing. I got in the car and she stepped over and came in the front passenger seat.

“Where are we going?” She asked.

I looked at her and smile. “Home.”
