Chapter 72 - Baby Nap
I laid back and slept until I heard my babies screaming as if they were in mortal danger.
"Pups. We need to go help pups. Come on, Selina, get off your ass. You’re already healed,” Rawr screamed at me.
I jumped up out of bed and pulled my I.V. out. I ran down the hallway, following my screaming children. I slid around the corner almost hitting a nurse. I didn’t pay her any mind as I slid around another corner. Damn, why is the nursery so far away? I made it to the nursery to see Matheus fighting with a man. I ran towards the man and pulled my blade, throwing it at his head. I turned my head and looked in the nursery, seeing another man trying to steal my children. Notice I said tried. I wasn’t going to let him take our children. Not after all the pain I went through. Plus, the bastard wasn’t going to be living soon.
I ran around to the nurses entrance, noticing it had a code box to get in. I kicked the door down, Matheus following me. I was worried if I threw my other blade I would hit my babies or I would hit him and he would drop my babies. Matheus and I moved slowly towards him. I was trying to place the man. And, then it hit me. This was the sick bastard who stole children, raising them how he wanted. Meaning he would make them as sick as him.
“Give me my babies, Ernesto. I promise you won’t get hurt. I won’t kill you with my blade. You need to get out of here. Your partner is dead. Do you want to be next?” I hissed at him.
Ernesto threw one of the children in the air. I dove towards my baby girl, catching her and landing hard on arm. I knew it was broke but I didn’t care. I got off the ground and put her in an empty bassinet, pushing it towards the front of the window and away from him. I watched as he threw my boy and my girl. Matheus dove for our boy since he was closer. I ran and jumped in the air, catching my girl but almost dropping her again when my arm failed me. I turned to see Matheus putting our boy down and pushing the bassinet towards me. He started slamming Ernesto’s head on the floor, kicking his knees out so he couldn’t run away.
“You told me you would let me go!” Ernesto screamed, cursing me.
“Yeah, I told you I would let you go and I wouldn’t kill you with my blade. I never said he,” I pointed towards my mate, “wouldn’t kill you, now did I?”
Matheus wrestled Ernesto, bringing Ernesto in front of him and breaking his neck. When we were done both of us were bruised and had broken bones. Matheus broke his wrist while my arm was broken with the bone protruding out of it. It was nasty looking and I would have to have it set. Shit!
“You okay, Selina?” Matheus asked, holding his wrist until he saw my arm.
“Uh, my arms broken and it hurts like hell,” was my reply. I was in a lot of pain. I thought childbirth was bad. Nope, I don’t remember it hurting this bad.
Matheus looked at my arm and nodded his head. We put two of our children in one bassinet and we pushed them out of the nursery. Our children were not staying there, not at all. As Matheus went to open the door security came in and told us to freeze. I snorted at the men.
“Please call the police. These men tried to take our babies from us and they were going to kill us if we tried to get to our babies. We did what we had to. Now, let us pass before I pass out,” I begged the men, acting pathetic and docile. I wanted to tell them to go to hell and go watch the cameras but the rent-a-cops wanted to question us. Nope, not going to happen.
Security followed us to a room as a nurse stopped us. “You can’t take your babies of the nursery until their tests are done.”
Is this woman serious? We both have broken bone. “Well, miss, if you can’t watch my babies while they’re in the nursery then I guess we will keep them with us and you can go to hell,” I warned her, giving her one of my dead eyed looks. She gulped and ran away. Good. I wasn’t in the mood to be nice.
Matheus picked up his phone and dialed a number. “Hey, General, can you come back to the hospital. Someone tried to steal our babies. Now, both of us have broken bones and security wants to question us.”
“What the hell?” Matheus screamed. “Who was it and are they dead?”
“Hey, Madrid. One of the men was named Ernesto. He’s a real piece of work. He steals children and raises them as his own - producing children as sick as he is. I didn’t recognize the other man but he could have been a new recruit of Barbosa’s”
“I’m on my way. I’m walking out now. Don’t answer any questions until I get there,” Madrid ordered.
“Copy that,” Matheus responded.
I turned back towards security and motioned for them to start walking. One of the guys tried to grab one of the bassinets until I growled at him. No one from this hospital would touch my children. I didn’t know who was in on the attempted kidnapping. We made it to my room, the security men blocking the door once we were inside. It was only a minute when the doctor ran into the room. He was about to look at Matheus’s wrist first but Matheus pulled his wrist away and pointed towards me.
The doctor walked over to me and looked at my arm. He gasped and shuddered. “How did this happen?”
“What? No one heard us trying to stop two men who were attempting to kidnap our babies? The man in the nursery is laying dead. There’s another one by the windows on the outside laying dead. I will not let anyone take our children away. Not now, not ever,” I explained, hissing my words out. The doctor flinched and nodded his head.
