Chapter 60 - Lazy Much
I threw the memories out of mind and paid attention again. The man was almost on top of me when he stopped and looked around him.
I was wondering what he was doing. It didn’t make sense to me that he would be looking around as if he was hiding. I found out why he stopped when he pulled out a pack of smokes and lit one. I hated cigarette smoke with a passion. He looked around and sat down, right on top of me. Could my life be anymore fucked up?
"I love it when the fuckers fall into our paws.” Rawr chuckled as I rolled my eyes. She wasn’t wrong. I had the perfect opportunity to take him out.
I waited until he was almost finished with his cigarette. Come on, I had to give him his last cigarette even though I wanted to choke. Couldn’t the fucker blow the smoke upwards? Right when he went to lean over and put the cigarette out on the sole of his boot my arm moved with deadly precision. He was dead and I barely moved. I stayed where I was until I knew I could move. Plus, the fuckers dead weight on my right side was getting uncomfortable.
I moved him off me and pulled his arms until he was next to a tree. I sat him up, making look as if he had fallen asleep. I moved back to the forest floor, laying back down, covered in dead leaves. I knew the others would be looking for him soon. They had been calling him on the radio for the last ten minutes, most of them shouting at him. I grabbed his radio when I sat him up. I realized they were on a different channel and the radio was the only way to know their movements as long as I could kill all of them before Barbosa found out.
I waited and thought back to the radio and my training with Antonio. He taught me how to break a code on the radio and how to channel surf for the channel my enemy would change after they realized they’re communications had been compromised. I couldn’t wait to follow all his movements and that of his men and at the last moment throw it back in his face...My thoughts trailed off as I caught movement near the fucker I had killed.
“Pedro, wake up you lazy fucker,” the man whisper yelled. When Pedro didn’t move the man moved closer and noticed the blood on Pedro shirt. He cussed and pulled up his radio.
I didn’t hesitate. I threw my blade into the side of his head. He fell dead on top of Pedro, in a compromising position. I wanted to laugh so bad but I couldn’t give my position away. I moved to the other side of the dead men so I wouldn’t have to breathe in their stench. I don’t think these guys ever took a shower.
I was listening to the radio, with the earwig on, as the men were calling to Pedro and some guy named Aello, meaning warrior. Boy, his parents must be proud. He couldn’t even live up to his name. I was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard they were going to send in Alexio, meaning defender of men. More like rapist of girls. I shuddered on the inside.
I felt the ground move as someone moved up on me. “It’s Digger, don’t stab me please.”
I let the breath out, one I didn’t realize I was holding. “Good thing you let me know who you were. I had my blades at the ready.”
“I figured.”
We both got quiet when we could feel the vibrations from the ground when Alexio started moving towards us. He was slow and cautious. Too bad his steps were loud enough to scare the wildlife. It was easy to know where he was by the way the monkeys and macaws screamed at him. He didn’t know how to let them know he wasn’t a threat.
I opened my eyes to slits when I felt him get closer. He was almost on top of the guys. When he did find them he had his back to me and was speechless, giving enough time to slowly come out of the dead foliage and stand at his back. He went to reach for his radio when I put my blade up to his throat.
“What the hell?” Alexio grunted. “Whoa, man, we can come to an understanding. I’ve got money. My mate wouldn’t like it if you killed me.”
I spun him around, keeping my blade at his throat, showing him who I was. “You don’t have a mate, Alexio. And, I don’t need your dirty money.” I didn’t give him enough time to yell out as I cut his throat. I wanted to do so much more to him but I didn’t have enough time for it. It was enough he was dead and wouldn’t rape young girls anymore.
I heard a slight noise and I burrowed under the ground, waiting for the next idiot. They sure didn’t give Alexio a lot of time to come back. I heard the name Jaun on the radio. Someone telling him to be careful something didn’t feel right. I also noticed Digger wasn’t in the same place as he was before. I hoped he went after the last guy still in the trees.
