Project Angel Book 1: Awakenings

Chapter Sin

Chapter 26

Enjeru

“Enjeru?”

“Yes?”

“The council wishes to see you and Micah.”

Angelique looks worried right now which concerns me.

“Have I done something wrong?”

“Marcus has asked for the meeting. I can only assume he wishes you harm.”

“Let him try. Now let’s leave.”

We walk towards the room fury filling every cell in my body. No doubt Marcus wishes to break up Micah and I. He can’t stand to see me free. But to be happy as well, It’s too much for him. He will try anything to break me, but with Micah at my side, I am not easily broken.

We enter the room, and Micah is already there. He rushes towards me engulfing me in a hug and then kiss me lightly on the lips. I grip his hand tightly, but not tight enough to break it. He grips my hand back and we stare up at the council, I notice Jakob’s seat is empty.

“Do you know why we have brought you here?” Marcus smirks.

“I have an idea, but I’ll hold my tongue.” I hiss back.

“You are here because this must end.” He points to our joined hands.

“And if we say no?”

“You will be thrown into the dungeon.”

“And has Jakob discussed this with you Marcus. An advisor is not king after all, just like a council member is not the council head.”

He goes silent glaring at me.

“I have done nothing wrong, but fall in love. Micah has done nothing wrong, but fall in love. If everything is in God’s plan why is our love not allowed?”

“Hah!! A demon speaking of God.”

“And a follower who mocks him.”

“Why you little. . ” he starts but calms himself.

“Your birth was one of unholy matrimony. We cannot allow that line to be continued using one of God’s servants.”

“My birth was out of love. Not evil as you treat it. While my mother did leave heaven she loved my father she loved us all. Love has no barriers, no side it just exists. Love is the only thing pure in this realm or any other.”

“But demons are. . .”

“We may be tricksters in some respects but we are more honest than most. What secrets does Libra hide Marcus? What are its sins? We both know neither of us are innocent. You just have more materials to cover your sins up with while, I expose mine. Who of us do you think your God would think to be more honest? The one who bares their cross, or the one who hides theirs?”

“She is correct Marcus.”

All heads turn to the chamber doors revealing Jakob.

“You have no right to take something pure out of this world. You are no God. Who are you to judge? Let the children love if that is what the wish, and stop making yourself look foolish. You may leave Micah, Enjeru.”
