Chapter 36 She Couldn’t Afford to Lose This Child 

However, Natalie showed no intention of stopping him. She didn’t even spare him a glance. 

Henry felt like she had hurt his pride. Why did he even bother in the first place? 

His car zoomed past her. Only then did Natalie look up. 

This wasn’t the first time she had been left behind by him. Now, she was able to maintain her composure nonetheless. 

“Good job,” she thought to herself, “It wouldn’t take long for me to get rid of all the feelings I had for him.” 

She retracted her gaze and took out her phone. 

She intended to hail a cab, but there were none around the area since her location 

was too remote. 

Thus, Natalie had no choice but to call Leslie and tell her what happened. 

“Stay where you are and wait for me! I’ll be there in a flash!” 

She felt at ease after Leslie’s reassurance. After she hung up, she found a big rock by the roadside and sat down to wait. 

However, another vehicle came before Leslie. It was a van. 

The van halted right before her. Just as she was still wondering who the car belonged to, the car door flung open. A few men emerged from the car.

Natalie’s heart raced. She would be lying if she said she wasn’t afraid.

After forcing herself to maintain her composure, she looked around the van’s interior. 

There were five men in the car. They were all wearing caps with masks covering their faces. She couldn’t make out their facial features.

Even if she intended to elicit information from them, she was unable to do so. Her mouth was gagged with a cloth, and she couldn’t speak at all. 

After what seemed like a long drive, the van finally came to a stop. 

One of the men approached her and pulled her up roughly. 

“Move!” 

“Behave! Otherwise, the child’s life isn’t the only one we’re taking!” He warned her menacingly. 

His words made Natalie’s heart pound. She couldn’t help but feel anxious. 

These people were after her child. Who were they? And who sent them? 

Not many knew about her pregnancy. She was bewildered. Who in the world. wanted to harm her child? 

Yet, these men left her with no time to think and yanked her right out of the car. 

Once she got out of the car, she finally realized they had taken her to an extremely secluded place. 

It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that no help would come to her even if she screamed at the top of her lungs for help. 

“Go in! Stop looking around! No one is going to save you!” 

They grabbed her arm and dragged her to a wrecked metal shack. Dust danced around in the air in the metal shack, and the walls were covered in rust. 

They gave Natalie a hard shove, and she stumbled forward. 

She swerved and stared at them vigilantly. Her eyes were red from being overwhelmed by fear. 

She attempted to let these men spare her. Despite having her mouth gagged, she continued to make muffled sounds. 

One of the men seemed to guess what she was trying to ask, so he said, “Someone paid us to do this.” 

“Don’t waste time talking to her. Get to work.” Aaron, who was standing in the middle, ordered. 

He signaled to the man who was beside him. 

The man took out a bottle from his pocket and approached Natalie. 

She shook her head as she desperately tried to back away from her. Her whole

This child was her motivation, and she was determined to spend the rest of her life with it. 

She couldn’t afford to lose it! 

However, there was no way for her to get away from the man. He was right in front of her. As he grabbed her chin forcefully, he tried to force the drug into her mouth. 

Natalie was horrified. With all her might, she struggled to break free. 

“Mm-” She was only capable of making muffled sounds. 

When Aaron saw she was unwilling to cooperate, he ordered his men immediately, “You guys, go and help now. Make sure she takes the drug!” 

Natalie’s struggles became more intense when she heard him. 

She felt tremendously distressed, and tears started to trickle down her cheeks. Was it really impossible for her to protect her child? 

“Open your mouth! Or you’ll be very sorry!” One of the men threatened.. 

Natalie glared at them hatefully. Even though her chances were slim, she wouldn’t just let them harm her child. 

“Open your mouth!” 

Another man delivered a slap to her right away. 

“If she doesn’t want to open her mouth, pry it open!” 

A few men surrounded her and took her under their control swiftly. One of them 

held a strong grip on her chin, forcing her to open her mouth. 

The drug was about to be forced down into her mouth. A sense of despair gradually got the better of her. 

Suddenly, the door of the metal shack was kicked open. The noise startled the men, too. 

“Who is it?” 

Natalie also glanced toward the door.

His sudden appearance sent Aaron into a fit of rage. 

He immediately roared, “Fuck you! You guys, go and teach him a lesson!” 

His men took his orders right away and charged at Sheldon. They were throwing fists at each other. 

Natalie was quite astonished to find that Sheldon was skilled. She had always thought of him as a gentle and refined person. Little did she expect him to have such a domineering side. 

It didn’t take long for Aaron to realize things weren’t going well. He whipped out a lighter from his pocket and threw the lit lighter to a corner. 

In the next instant, the fire began spreading along the wall. 

“Let’s go!” Aaron ordered as he scurried away with his men. 

Fortunately, he was prepared. He made sure to pour some gasoline around the walls. 

With this, he could still complete his job even if unexpected circumstances came.
