Chapter 855
Hearing the distinctive ringtone of her specially marked push notification, Esther retrieved her phone and opened the new
messages. Bradley’s post greeted her, and she sneered instantly.
“Scum! Even after tormenting my sister to death, he’s here pretending to be affectionate? Disgusting.”
Glancing at Esther, Logan said, “If you have something to attend to, you can leave.”
“I’m fine.” Esther decisively closed the app.
Taking a deep breath, she suppressed the frustration in her heart. Dealing with a man like Bradley would probably shorten her
lifespan by several years. What mattered now was partnering well with Logan, excelling in her performance, and gathering
information about her enemies from Gabriel.
Logan silently stared out of the window.
Stakeouts required patience. Staying in one place for ten days or half a month was common. Logan had a good mentality, never
being impatient. After doing this job for a long time, his temperament had become more stable. He wasn’t like this before.
“Get ready. We’re going out,” he said.
“Okay.”
Esther could leave anytime, and there was nothing to prepare for. The two of them left like a couple.
Usually, those at a motel were either couples or newlyweds. People there weren’t surprised by Esther and Logan’s intimate
behavior. Some bolder couples were even more affectionate.
Logan and Esther bought snacks. Logan went to the shelf and deliberately bought a box of condoms.
When Esther saw what Logan was holding, her ears turned red instantly.
A man from the group in the BMW earlier took another box and joked upon seeing what Logan was holding, “This one is better.”
Logan casually took it and replied easily, “I’ll give it a try.”
Esther wasn’t good at handling such situations, so she turned her head away and pretended to look at the snacks on the shelf.
To conceal the awkwardness, she deliberately picked up some snacks.
After paying, the two returned to the motel.
As soon as Logan arrived, he made a phone call.
“It’s me. I’ll send you a number. Check it for me and the number that just had a call with this one.”
“Okay.”
Half an hour later, Logan received an email. He went to the tablet and carefully read the contents.
After reading it once, he jolted. Clearly, these two numbers overlapped in time and space, and the overlap was at the bar. Why
didn’t he notice it before?
“I suspect they’re going to make a transaction,” he said.
Esther asked in confusion, “Why?”
She knew about Logan’s recent digging through the men’s garbage, but there wasn’t much useful information. Logan didn’t know
why he said such things either.
“Just a hunch.”
Logan knew Esther’s father’s identity, so he treated Esther with a bit more tolerance.
