My Husband Wants Me Dead novel (Esther and Bradley)

Chapter 857

The traveler entered the private room and sat across from the group of men, asking in a hushed tone, “I brought the money.
Where’s the merchandise?”
“We brought the merchandise too, but...”
“But what?”
The men exchanged glances, and one of them pulled a backpack from behind, unzipping it and pushing its contents toward the
traveler.
The traveler glanced at the backpack’s contents and promptly opened his briefcase. As the lid lifted, neatly arranged bills came
into view.
The bills delighted the men, making them unable to contain their joy.
“This is our first collaboration, and we’re all very cautious. Please understand.”
The traveler didn’t bother listening to their nonsense. He immediately started inspecting the goods. Squinting, he began to
appreciate the quality of the merchandise. He felt that the wait had been worthwhile.
Suddenly, Logan kicked the door open, holding up his badge, and sternly declared, “Don’t move!”
“Crap!”
The men were still dreaming of making a fortune, but Logan’s badge shattered their dreams. Believing that Logan was alone,
they attempted to escape.
Logan was skilled, and he was assisted by Esther, who worked seamlessly with him despite being his temporary partner. In the
blink of an eye, the five men were beaten to a pulp.
Logan took out handcuffs and restrained the two men responsible for the transaction, cuffing them together. Esther leveraged her
knowledge of pressure points and bones and efficiently immobilized the other men by their arms and ankles.
Glancing at Esther’s actions, Logan didn’t say anything but chose to tacitly approve. After making a phone call, he and Esther
stood guard at the door.

Although the other men wanted to escape, they were now no different from incapacitated individuals. Esther even worried they
might attempt suicide, so she dislocated their jaws to prevent them from biting their tongues.

After half an hour, police cars roared in.
Logan’s colleague greeted him, and they escorted the men out of the bar.
Esther wasn’t sure if she could follow Logan. She looked at him, almost as if seeking his opinion.
“Let’s go together.”
Esther responded excitedly. “Okay.”
The two of them got into the same car.
Logan’s expression softened, seeing the unmistakable joy on Esther’s face.
His colleague sitting beside him noticed and teased, “Logan, your partner is impressive.”
“Shut up!” Logan coldly glanced at his colleague, warning, “Put away those thoughts you shouldn’t be having.”
“I haven’t said anything yet.”
Logan cautioned, “Don’t, and don’t even think about it.”
“Logan, you’ll end up friendless like this.”
“I don’t need friends.”
“Logan, you’re breaking my heart.”
This time, Logan’s successful mission completion was greatly attributed to Esther, his temporary partner.
As they got out of the car, all Logan could see in Gabriel’s eyes was admiration. Gabriel had learned about Esther’s performance
through Logan. She displayed patience and resilience, proving to be a promising talent.

Gabriel couldn’t help but think that if they hadn’t been so stubborn in the past, presumptuously assuming what a regular girl’s
future should look like, her life might not have been so tumultuous.
“Grandpa Gabriel,” Esther greeted.
