SWNOVELS Chapter THE MISTAKE
John's eyes were still closed as instructed by Anmer when John realized everywhere was silent and could no longer hear the voice of uncle James, Adewale, and Adetutu. Anmer said to John ''open your eyes''.
John opened his eyes to see himself standing in a wide open land where they were nothing except the sand on the ground. John asked Anmer ''where am I?''.
''In the future, John'' said Anmer, then John felt a hand on his shoulder.
John looked at the hand and traced the hand up to see who it was that touched his shoulder. John was startled upon seeing someone with his face and got the hand off his shoulder then he moved a little bit backward. John asked ''who are you?''.
''Who do you think I am'' said Anmer.
''You can't be Anmer, right?'' said John (confused), seeing the person with his face.
''Then who else?'' asked Anmer.
''How come you look like me?'' asked John confused.
''I don't look like you, John. Am not a human or creature that has a body. Am just a book that has a mind of its own and the only way I can become visible to you is to become you. Welcome to my kingdom, John'' said Anmer.
John moved closer to Anmer and asked Anmer ''you said we are in the future. Is the future your kingdom?''.
''No. Time and place are my kingdoms. I can be at any place and time as requested, and I know the beginning and end of all things'' said Anmer.
''Okay. You said to take me on a journey so we can find out about my question'' said John.
''Yes, and we are there now. This is where you will find out about what your dream truly means'' said Anmer.
''But there is nothing here except the sand on the ground and silence'' said John, looking around him.
''Look again, John'' said Ammer.
John looked around again and said ''am not seeing anything, Anmer. There is nothing here than silence, me and you''.
''You are not looking with your inner eyes but the outer ones'' said Anmer.
''What do you mean by that?'' asked John.
''Focus, John, and think about the dream then the dream will reveal its true meaning to you'' said Anmer.
John looked at the wide land again and said to himself ''how do I do this?''.
John thought for a while and closed his eyes then he thought about the dream, calmed himself, and listened to silence.
John's eyes were still closed when John suddenly heard noises, and he opened his eyes to see a soldier in front of him holding a sword raised in action to cut down something or someone. John thought it was him the soldier wanted to kill and became scared then he closed his eyes raising his elbow as a shield to stop the sword but nothing happened to him. John opened his eyes and raised down his elbows after realizing he wasn't hurt then looked around him and was terrified by what he saw.
John saw he was in the middle of a battle that didn't look natural. A battle that consists of demons, humans, gods, and horrific creatures. A battle he has never heard of or seen before. John saw the battle was about the survival of humans, and the humans and gods joining hands together to fight against the demons and the horrific creatures. John himself viewing what was happening in the battle was scared of what he was seeing because it was a brutal battle. John frightened asked Anmer ''where the hell are we?''.
''Don't be scared, John. Just like have said, we are in the future'' said Anmer to John.
''What future is this and year? We are humans battling the horrific creatures and demons'' John asked Anmer.
''I can't tell you that so you don't mess with time, John. But know this, all what and who you see here are all from the future'' said Anmer.
John walked around the battle terrified looking at all that was happening leaving Anmer. John stopped walking when he saw someone with his face and that of Adetutu afar from him, fighting in the battle against the demons and horrific creatures. John asked Anmer ''isn't that me and Adetutu?", as he looked back at Anmer but couldn't see Anmer anymore.
''Anmer!!!'' John called Anmer thrice to know where Anmer was but there was no response from Anmer then John looked back at the future him and Adetutu fighting.
Uncle James (now standing) asked Adetutu and Adewale (seated) ''isn't it taking too long?''.
''We don't have a choice but to wait for John to return himself'' said Adewale to uncle James.
Just then a wind started brewing outside the house. The wind was so strong that it created a disturbance at the window by opening all the windows in the living and dining room. Adetutu went to close and locked all the windows back upon seeing them opened by the wind while uncle James went outside to check if it was going to rain. Upon getting outside the house, uncle James saw the strong wind surrounding the house and looked to the sky to see thunder in the sky but it didn't look like it was going to rain.
Uncle James returns inside the house to the living room, picks up his phone, and calls his wife through his phone telling her to be cautious of the storm but his wife responds that there is no storm or lightning in the sky. Uncle James said to his wife that she was joking but she insisted that there was no storm and that the sky was clear.
Uncle James hung up the call confused by what his wife said and went back to the dining room. Upon getting to the dining room, Uncle James said to Adewale and Adetutu "something weird is going on''.
''What is that?'' Adetutu asked Uncle James.
''There is a storm outside the house and I called my wife to tell her to be careful of the storm but she said there is no storm'' said uncle James.
''That is impossible. Your home is not far from here. How come there will be a storm here and there won't be one around your home? You shouldn't joke around, uncle'' said Adewale to uncle James, thinking he was joking.
"I understand if you think am joking but am not. Am also confused by what my wife said. Something weird is going on" said Uncle James to Adewale.
"If that is right then something weird might truly be going on" said Adetutu.
Adewale stood up and went to the house balcony upstairs to check on the storm. Upon getting to the balcony, Adewale saw the strong wind and tried to look far away from the house but he couldn't see anything because of the wind. Adewale also tried to look at the house next to theirs but couldn't see the house because of the strong wind. Adewale looked at their house sky and saw thunder in the sky then he looked to the next house's sky and was confused and surprised to see there were no clouds or thunder in the sky except the stars, Adewale returned to the dining room.
Upon getting back to the dining room, Adewale said to uncle James and Adetutu ''uncle is right, something is truly wrong. I think the storm is only occurring in our house. The wind, cloud, and lightning are only happening here''.
Adetutu was confused to hear that and began to think of what might be wrong. ''Then what the hell is going on?'' asked uncle James (confused).
"I don't think that is the question. I think the question should be what the hell is happening with John that is reflecting here'' said Adetutu, after she was done with her thinking.
Uncle James and Adewale were confused with what Adetutu said. Adewale asked Adetutu.''What do you mean?''.
''I think whatever is happening with John had to do with what is happening here'' said Adetutu.
John's focus was on the future him and Adetutu (holding swords) as they fought their way through the demons and the horrific creatures in the battle to get to a man that has two wings at his back and holding two swords. The future John and Adetutu fought so hard against the man that has wings using powers he had never seen before but both of them were no match for the man. The man beat them and knocked both of them down to the ground then stood in front of the future John. The man raises his swords to kill the future John as the future John lay down on the ground but just as the man was about to thrust the swords into the future John, John watching shouted the word ''NO'' out loud.
