Chapter ANMER 2 (ii)
Uncle James continued screaming with his hands covering his face and he didn't know he was back to reality. Uncle James's screaming got the attention of Adewale, Adetutu, and John who were in the dining room, and the three of them quickly rushed to the living room to see what it was that had happened to uncle James making him scream.
Upon getting to the living room, Adewale, Adetutu, and John saw that uncle James was sleeping, screaming, and his hands were being displayed on air as they covered his face then they realized he must be having a bad dream, and three of them sighed. Adewale had to tap uncle James thrice to wake him up. Uncle James opened his eyes and saw he was back in the house then he stopped screaming and realized he was just having a bad dream.
Uncle James (still lying on the sofa) saw Adewale, Adetutu, and John standing, weirdly looking at him and curious to know why he screamed. Uncle James sat up and Adewale said to him ''are you going to talk or do we need to ask what happened''.
''Talk about what?'' asked uncle James, pretending not to know what Adewale was talking about.
''You scream from your sleep. Why don't you tell us what you dreamt about'' said Adetutu to uncle James.
''Nothing. I dreamt about nothing'' said uncle James.
''Nothing or you just don't want to talk about it'' said John to uncle James.
''Okay. I don't wanna talk about it. Would you three please leave me alone, I need water'' said uncle James, and stood up and then went to the kitchen.
Adewale, John, and Adetutu looked at uncle James as he left and shook their head unhappy.
Adewale, Adetutu, and John returned to the dining room and sat down back at their position then uncle James joined and sat down beside John. Uncle James looked at Anmer and smiled upon seeing the blood performance then he said ''it seems Adetutu's blood is special''.
It didn't take long before the blood on the path that led to the up, down, and left outer circles got to the circles and the four of them were happy but unhappy upon seeing the blood on the path that led to the right outer circle still in the maze fighting to get through it. After some minutes, the blood on the path that led to the right outer circle dried up and they all became sad upon seeing it.
Adewale (annoyed) said "oh shit. The blood has dried up again".
''I guess none of us is qualified enough to open Anmer'' said Adetutu unhappy
''But your blood tried than ours. It did make it to three circles'' said John to Adetutu.
''Yeah'' said uncle James.
''Are you all hungry? 'cause I am. Should I prepare something we can all eat?'' asked Adetutu.
''Sure. Do that'' said uncle James to Adetutu.
Just as Adetutu was about to stand up to go to the kitchen, the maze wall that stood as an obstacle to the right outer circle created a straight path that led to the right outer circle which they all saw and Adetutu didn't bother to stand up anymore. John asked ''what's happening?''.
''No idea. We can only find out by staring at it'' said Adetutu, then the blood that dried up suddenly appeared on the straight path created by the maze, and it flowed freely to the right outer circle.
They were all surprised to see that.
After the blood went into the last circle, the blood in all the outer circles dried up and they all stared at Anmer expecting something to happen but nothing happened. John asked ''what next now?''.
''I think we should open it now that the blood is in the circles'' said uncle James, and tried to open Anmer but Adetutu stopped him before he could lay his hands on Anmer.
Adetutu said to uncle James ''you can't open Anmer it has to open itself''.
''And who knows when it will open itself. I think we should open it now'' said uncle James to Adetutu.
''Calm down, uncle. You can't open Anmer with force, it will open itself now that my blood is into all the outer circles'' said Adetutu to uncle James.
Just then, they suddenly heard a rattling sound coming from inside Anmer. The rattling sound stopped and the book cover began to itself slowly.
Anmer opened revealing two pages that every one of them couldn't look at at first because of the bright light that shone from the pages. The bright light stopped shining and they all looked at the pages and saw nothing on the right side page but on the left side page they saw words written on it which say ''hello, am Anmer''.
Adetutu shouted out loud happily ''my blood did it'', now that Anmer had opened and upon reading the words, the others were also happy.
John asked ''so what next now?''.
''You are going to be the one to ask Anmer the question'' said Adetutu to John.
''Why me?'' asked John, not wanting to.
''Because you are the one that had the dream'' said Adetutu to John.
"That doesn't mean anything. Someone else should ask Anmer the question since we all know the question we are asking" said John.
"John, I don't want us arguing about this. Anmer has to connect with one's memories when asking the question and only you had the dream. So, when Anmer accesses your memories it will be able to see the dream and give you a better answer. You are asking the question no one else" said Adetutu to John.
"Or are you afraid?" said Uncle James to John, trying to make John feel less.
''Okay, I will do it. So what do I do now?'' asked John.
''All you need to do is just place your hand on the blank page'' said Adetutu to John.
''Okay, but am scared'' said John, and uncle James laughed at John making John annoyed.
''Don't mind uncle and don't be afraid. All you need to do is clear your mind so you won't ask Anmer the wrong question. Just ask it about the dream'' said Adetutu to John.
''Okay'' said John.
Adewale, uncle James, and Adetutu stared at John as he continued rubbing his two hands together instead of placing one of his hands on the blank right page, and there was silence in the room. Realizing John wasn't ready to place his hand on Anmer, Uncle James said to John ''John, are you not going to place your hand on the blank page or not?", and broke the silence.
''I will, just give me a little bit of time'' said John to uncle James, still rubbing his two hands together.
''You are taking too long, John, and it is because you are scared'' said Adetutu to John.
''John, look at me” (John looks at Adewale), “You can do this don't be scared. This is the only thing that can tell us about you, so man up bro. You can do this I believe in you'' said Adewale to John.
''I don't think he can do it'' said uncle James teasing John, and that made John annoyed.
''Shut up, uncle" John shouted at Uncle James then he said to Adewale "I will do it, bro''.
John rubbed his two hands together one more time and then placed his right hand on the right side page. Just as John placed his right hand on the page it created a wave on the page but John didn't feel anything then John said ''am not feeling anything. I don't think this thing is real''.
''We all saw Adetutu's blood open it and it just created a wave, so calm down, John'' said Adewale to John.
''Relax, John. Anmer love to take thing slow. Be patient'' said Adetutu.
Minutes later, John's right hand was still on Anmer but nothing happened. John became impatient and said ''it is not working and am not interested again. I want to withdraw my hand right now'', then wanted to remove his hand from the page.
Just as John was about to remove his hand from the page, Adetutu said to him ''no, don't John'', but John didn't listen to her.
John tried to remove his hand from the page but couldn't, it looked like his hand had been glued to the page. John (worried) said ''what the hell is happening?'', as he continued trying to remove his hand from the page but couldn't.
''What the hell is happening?'' asked John (scared), and uncle James began to laugh
''I don't know but you should calm down, John'' said Adewale to John.
''How can I calm down when my hand is stuck to this damned book of yours. Tell Anmer or whatever you call it to let go of my hand right now'' said John (in anger and no longer trying to remove his hand from the page ) to Adetutu, and stood up while uncle James continued laughing.
''John, for your hand to be stuck to the page means something. Just relax and ask Anmer the question'' said Adetutu to John.
''I can't 'cause a lot is going on inside my mind right now. Just tell Anmer to let go of my hand'' said John to Adetutu, while uncle James volume up his laugh making John face him.
John (angry) looked at uncle James and asked him ''what so funny?''.
''What is funny is that I guess you will be spending a lifetime stuck with Anmer on your hand'' said uncle James (still laughing) to John.
''Would you shut your.....'' said John (in anger) to uncle James.
John was cut short of words when he heard someone call his name then he looked at Adewale and Adetutu thinking they were the ones who called his name but upon looking at them he saw their heads bowed down and they were unhappy. John heard the unknown voice call his name again and asked the others ''did you all hear that?''.
Hearing John say that got the attention of everyone. Uncle James (now smiling) asked John ''what again? Or have you started hearing things now?''.
''Don't mind him, John. Did you hear something?'' Adetutu asked John.
''Yes. I heard someone call my name'' said John.
''I think it might be Anmer trying to talk to you. Talk to the voice back'' said Adetutu to John.
''Okay'' said John and relaxed, then uncle James stopped smiling.
John heard his name called again by the unknown voice then he said to the unknown voice ''who are you and why are you calling my name?''.
''I am Anmer. Welcome to my kingdom, John'' said the unknown voice to John.
''Anmer? How are you talking to me right now?'' John asked Anmer.
Adetutu and Adewale were happy to hear John talking to Anmer while uncle James chose not to believe that thinking John might be going crazy.
''You don't need to worry about that, and just so we can be able to continue our conversation you need to speak to me through your mind, not your mouth'' said Anmer to John.
''Anmer said I need to speak to it with my mind, not my mouth, so I might not be able to answer everyone in the meantime'' said John to Adewale and Adetutu.
''Okay. But remember, don't ask Anmer the wrong question, John'' said Adetutu to John.
John sat down and straightened his hand well on Anmer then he began to speak to Anmer through his mind. John said to Anmer ''hello Anmer''.
''Welcome John. I know you opened me because you want an answer to your dream'' said Anmer to John.
John was surprised to hear Anmer said that and asked Anmer ''how did you know about that?''.
''I have accessed your memories and saw all that I needed to see. You possessing Leo and Deo's powers in the dream is because you are part of God's plan just like Domien'' said Anmer.
''God's plan? What does that mean?'' asked John confused.
Adewale and Adetutu noticed John's reaction and wondered what happened but couldn't ask him any questions so as not to disturb him so they continued looking at him.
''I can't tell you about God's plan but I can tell you who you saw in your dream wasn't you, John'' said Anmer.
''if it wasn't me then who was that?'' asked John.
''Let me take you on a journey. Close your eyes'' said Anmer, then John closed his eyes.
Upon seeing John close his eyes, Uncle James asked ''why did he close his eyes?''.
''It must be Anmer that told him to'' said Adetutu to Uncle James.
''Are you both not going to do anything? I don't trust this damned book'' said uncle James to Adewale and Adetutu.
''Yes, we aren't. We will just wait for him till he is done with Anmer'' said Adewale to uncle James.
Uncle James tapped John's shoulder and called his name thrice but he gave no response so uncle James let him be.
