Chapter 13
Tory POV
Alpha leaves me to handle myself. Strange, I feel weird being here all alone. I sit at the bedside after he goes. I am in the Alpha's bed. I should pick out a room like he said and stay out of his way. He doesn't need to have to worry with me on top of his other worries. I am sure he has a lot to do for his pack. I do not want to be a burden to anyone in any way.
I get up and walk through the living room. This house is spotless and well decorated. I look at the walls covered in pictures of men and women. Everyone looks content and happy. I wonder what that feels like, just to be satisfied with life. I step into the kitchen. A young woman is cooking in the kitchen. She turns to see me and smiles.
"Tory, I am glad to see you up and moving around. You gave everyone a scare last night," she says.
"I did not mean to," I say meekly.
The young woman walks over to me. Her long brown hair sways as she walks. "I am Tee. I have clothes for you in the bathroom ready. Go shower and then come eat," Tee says, pointing toward the hall. "Thank you," I tell her.
I do not understand why everyone is so lovely. I thought wolves were; I don't know, domineering and wolfish. I do not know what to think about Alpha. He seems to have a genuine concern for my well-being, or maybe he really needs another doctor here. He saved my life, and I definitely owe him everything. If he needs a doctor here to help out, then I will do whatever he asks.
I go into the bathroom, and Tee has laid out a shirt, jeans, shoes, socks, and panties. WOW! She even laid out a big fluffy towel for me. This bathroom is small but immaculate and has everything I could possibly need. I remove my clothing and turn on the water. I step into the shower and let the hot water run over me. I want to scrub Alan off of me. I don't want ever to smell him again. I cannot believe I gave myself to that pig. I waited so long, and he had to be the one I gave myself to, and look how that turned out for me. The thought of him makes me want to scream, but I will not give him that. Fuck Alan and his sick twisted games! I deserve better.
I stand in the shower so long that Tee comes to check on me. She knocks on the door. "Sweetie, are you okay?" Tee asks. I feel like I have been asked if I am okay a thousand times.
"Yes, I am getting out," I say.
I turn off the water and step out onto the red rug on the floor. I wrap my body in the big fluffy towel and look into the mirror. The image is blurry from the steam, but I can see the bruising on my face. Great I look terrible on a day I will be meeting people.
My eyes are puffy from crying. My face is black and blue. My lip is busted, and my hair looks to have some missing from the back. Last night is a blur. My head hurts, and I feel dizzy. I need to stay awake and try to make it through the day. I run my fingers through my hair and try to towel it dry a little. Fuck it! I am alive, and that is all that matters. What if Alan would have managed to lock me in the basement? No one would have come looking for me. I would have died down there or worse. I would have lived as his sex slave. I cannot imagine what that would have been like for me. My eyes begin to tear up thinking about it. Great now they will be even puffier.

I slip into the clothes and shoes Tee laid out for me. I wonder what she thinks of me and all of this. I am just some whore that shacked up with the wrong man, I guess. No, I am not. Stop beating yourself up. Stop it! I take a deep breath and try to relax. I wipe the tears away from my face one last time and get ready to face everyone.
I go into the kitchen. It is now full of wolves eating and laughing with Tee. When I come in, they all look at me and smile. They are friendly and hospitable. Not something I am accustomed to having projected in my direction. Usually, people don't talk to me. Maybe I am too cold and unfriendly.
"Tory, I made you a plate before these vultures could eat it all," Tee says. She hands me a plate and a glass of orange juice. One man gets up from the table so I can sit down and eat. "Here, sit here; I have to go," he says, smiling. Everyone smiles. It is freaking me out just a little.
As the wolves begin to leave, only Tee and I left are in the kitchen alone. She makes a couple of plates and sets them to the side. "I have to save something for Alpha and Jeb," Tee says. "Why is everyone so nice to me?" I ask.
"Well, to be honest, we are all excited you are here," Tee says, sitting down with me.

"We need a woman doctor here badly, and you are perfect. Everyone is pretty nice anyway, but they are trying hard not to scare you off," Tee says.
"Oh, I don't have my medical license," I say.
"Don't worry. Jeb will handle that for you. As soon as he does, I need to make an appointment. I swear there is something I do not feel comfortable talking to Jeb about, and all the other pack doctors are men too. We need you," Tee says. It is nice to feel needed. I never thought that I might be needed here. I finish eating as Jeb and Alpha come into the house. The two are talking as they come into the kitchen with Tee and me.
"Look at you, up and moving around," Jeb says.
"I feel like I have been hit by a truck," I say.
Jeb sits down at the table with a mountain of paperwork. "Well, I will try to make this painless as possible," Jeb says, opening the folder and taking out a pen to begin.
