Chapter 73: The Saboteur

Previously, the firewall designed by Sandra was so secure that even Earl’s attempts at breaching it from the inside proved futile.

This meant that unless Sandra herself allowed it, no one else could penetrate the company’s defenses.

To everyone’s surprise, alarms suddenly blared.

“Our system has been infiltrated! They’re a mere step away from accessing!”

At the sound of the alarm, everyone in the technical department instinctively turned their gaze to Sandra.

She frowned slightly.

She was confident in the robustness of her firewall…

At that moment, the company was in the midst of a executive

meeting.

The secretary who barged in to report was sternly reprimanded by

Debra.

Nearly in tears, the secretary warned, “Mrs. Cooper, if the intruder breaches our system, our company secrets will be compromised.”

Debra surveyed the senior executives,

“Sandra has always assured us of the firewall.”

“Earl once tried to hack our secrets by using company access codes-

all in vain.”

“I have faith in her abilities.”

The core Issue at this executive meeting revolved around the garment department.

The celebrity in collaboration had been suppressed by the Cooper Group.

Now only two issues remained unresolved.

One concerned Mason, whose resistance to persuasion made him difficult to handle.

If he exposes, the Cooper Group faced issues far graver.

The other matter involved the prominent celebrity Jessica Smith, a woman entirely motivated by money.

The Cooper was internally disinclined to furnish the necessary funds, rendering the dilemma unsolvable.

Opinions raised during the executive meeting fell on deaf ears since no one was eager to play the scapegoat.

The timing of the secretary’s interruption was serendipitous, shifting focus away from the garment départment’s issues towards the firewall breach.

Someone quipped,

“If our firewall is as infallible as Mrs. Cooper claims, who possesses. the capability to mount such an attack?”

“Even the talented Earl could not achieve this feat, it seems

implausible for anyone else to succeed.”

“Are you implying Sandra is the culprit?”

The secretary spoke up,

“Sandra is currently in the technical department.”

If Sandra is the saboteur, her presence at work would certainly be

questionable.

Someone scoffed with disdain,

“Despite Sandra’s humble origins, she possesses tremendous mental fortitude.”

“Indeed, hidden beneath a sheep’s disguise, who could discern the wolf within?”

“She did this, then observe our reactions for joy?”

“Mrs. Cooper, your daughter–in–law is quite the marvel!”

Debra sighed lightly,

“I hadn’t anticipated such a complication. I’ll go to the technical department.”

The management had always harbored reservations about the abrupt appointment of Sandra.

The silence once enforced by Earl’s incident would not remain

unbroken now that they had seized a chance.

In the technical department, Sandra nonchalantly unwrapped a lollipop as she selected her computer’s music playlist.

Repeatedly approached by colleagues, she meditated with eyes.

closed. She was oblivious to all distractions.

“She’s so confident in her system, isn’t she?”

“I have a suspicion about this whole situation. Could it be done by her

own?

“That seems unlikely. What benefit would she gain?”

“Our system has a tracking feature, doesn’t it?”

So, we just wait?”

Back then, the camera had activated during Earl’s attempted hack, yet now there’s nothing.”

“Look, someone’s approaching the door.”

Debra entered, impeccably dressed in off–white professional attire. She was complemented by nude stockings and black high heels, the epitome of precision.

Flanked by executives, each wore an expression tight with displeasure.

Wesley and Joey, along with other onlookers, soon gathered outside.

Joey, trailing behind the crowd, voiced his concerns,

“Nothing is absolute. What if the attacker’s prowess eclipses that of the young madam?”

Wesley replied with an air of certainty, “That won’t be the case.”

“Really? You’re that confident in her?”

Wesley said,

“If there had been any cause for concern, she wouldn’t be so relaxed.”

Joey peered inside, astonished by Sandra’s laid–back demeanor.

He marveled at her extraordinary resilience.

“Sandra,”

Debra initiated the conversation.

“You’ve boasted about the impregnability of your firewall. Now, as the invader encroaches upon the final barrier, how can you remain so detached?”

Sandra’s response was terse,

“Without internal collusion, breaching the last defense is impossible.”

Debra scoffed skeptically, “And why does that tracking function now fail us?

Sandra twirled her lollipop, glancing up,

“It’s not that the camera is inactive I’ve used a code to obscure the perpetrator’s face.”

Realization dawned on Debra, “You know the person attempting to hack into our system?”

“Yes, but not well,” Sandra offered a candid assessment.

The executives behind Debra chimed in.

“Have you leaked company secrets to your friends?

“If our company sufaces losses due to such negligence, you will bear full responsibility for compensation!”

“That’s the least of your concerns. This is a matter that could lead

you in prison!”

Sandra looked genuinely baffled, “In prison?”

Debra said,

“Indeed, last time Earl was lucky enough not to end up in prison. But this time, we won’t tolerate it.”

“Even if you are the young madam of the Cooper, it won’t be acceptable.”

If you want to protect your friend, then you will share the same guilt as your friend.”

Sandra still couldn’t believe it and asked, “Is it really that serious?”

Debra sighed, “You should turn on the camera and let us see who that person is. Otherwise…”

Sandra gave her a thumbs up and said, “I didn’t expect you to genuinely care for me. I misunderstood you before, Debra.”

Debra put on a motherly expression and said, “Just reveal that person’s face to us, Sandra.”
