Chapter More 72
Chapter 72: Severing Ties
Wesley’s ears betrayed a reddish hue.
Sandra sipped her coffee leisurely,
“You appear to be rather uninformed. Now we have instruments for
that.”
“Wesley, forget it. I’m not your thermometer.
She added, prompting Wesley’s complexion to darken.
“Have your coffee.” Wesley said.
“If you’re really want to know how warm your lips are, inform me next
time.”
Emily, having learned that Vincent was here, hurried over.
“Emily.”
With a cheerful smile, Vincent instructed his assistant to serve her,
coffee.
The assistant fawned over her,
“No matter how busy Vincent is, he would always make time for you, Emily.”
To Vincent, nothing compared to his sister, Emily.
Thus, the assistant treated her with unparalleled courtesy.
His predecessor was fired for failing to serve Emily water at the proper temperature.
His doting on Emily was beyond help.
Emily smiled,
“I just missed my brother. I hoped my visit wouldn’t inconvenience your work.”
Buoyed by her presence, Vincent said, “You are more considerate.”
His words, laden with comparison, did not escape her.
“Has someone irked you today?” Emily inquired.
Vincent had no desire to converse about Sandra.
Yet his assistant, having his pride wounded just moments ago, was eager to share his grievances.
Emily said, “She’s so arrogant even when she’s asking for help.”
The assistant chimed in,
“Exactly! I can’t stand her!”
Emily heaved a sigh.
“She still resents me for stealing her life. But we’re still a family. I
should talk to her.”
“Oh, Emily, how can you be so benevolent?” The assistant could hardly bear to see.
Vincent said, “Don’t go. She’s nothing but a naive country bumpkin.”
“But…”
“There’s not but. Let’s go.”
Emily asked, “Could you help me procure an autograph from my favorite actress, Vincent?”
“Of course.”
As they departed, they encountered Wesley and Sandra departing, too.
Sandra was at a loss for words.

Wesley smiled, “You seem quite unfortunate today.”
“Only because I set out with you today. You ruined my luck.”
Wesley was left speechless by such an unorthodox accusation.
“Hi, Sandra,” called out Emily.
Sandra had considered feigning ignorance, but confrontation was inevitable.
She sighed in resignation, offering a chilly response.
“I’m not acquainted with you. Such formalities are unnecessary.”
This statement incensed Vincent.
“Emily is being kind, and yet you’re so rude!”
Sandra countered impassively, “I’ve always been this way. Is this news to you?”
Her tone reflected a long–standing indifference to the Hill family.
Vincent had become aware of the animosity between Emily and Sandra.
He believed Emily to be the aggrieved one.
By his logic, Sandra’s current prosperity was owed to the Hill and to Emily.
It was Emily who had pleaded for taking Sandra home.
“Sandra, if you hate us, why not sever your ties with us?” Vincent said.
Sandra responded earnestly,
“I would be eternally grateful if you facilitate this for me.“.
Vincent sneered, “You’ve acting again.”
“Keep your word and make it happen swiftly, Vincent.” Sandra said.
Emily, in tears, pleaded, “Please don’t quarrel.”
She softened Vincent’s heart instantaneously. “My dear princess, don’t cry.”
Emily said, “I wish you two would get along. You share the same blood, after all.”
Vincent said, “Blood relations matter little to me; it’s kinship of the soul that I value.”
With these words, he shielded Emily protectively behind him.
“I advise you to keep your distance and cease troubling Emily!”
Sandra replied, “Had you not barred my way, I would not stay at all. Now, step aside!”
Vincent gritted his teeth in rage and brought Emily away from the
scene.
Emily’s tears persisted, but as she walked past Sandra, a spiteful grin belied her contempt.
Such behavior might provoke the weak–willed into a confrontation, but Sandra was not one to be baited by such childish games.
With her provocation having fallen flat, Emily’s smile turned malicious.
Sandra proceeded to the company.
A slew of reporters besieged the company’s entrance. They accessed through a secure garage and took the private elevator.
Meanwhile, within the company, a palpable tension filled the air.
Every department was on edge, lest they exacerbate any issues amidst the ongoing turmoil.
The garment department, in particular, walked on pins and needles.
That day, the technical department was equally busy.
They were preparing for an imminent tech forum and handling with the incident in the garment department, which had sparked a wave of online vitriol directed at the company.
To protect the company’s reputation, commenting on the official website had been disabled.
But cyber–attacks continued unabated, necessitating the technical department’s vigilant defense.
Against all odds, another crisis loomed on the horizon…
