Chapter CHAPTER THREE
I closed my eyes, hoping to see my mother again but instead, I heard the Beta's voice. "It's been three days now, she still can't talk. Are we going to continue watching her this way?" Stefan said with utmost concern. "You need to heal her," Stefan said.
"I can't!" Lucas yelled.
"You can't heal her or you won't heal her? Two different things, Alpha?" Stefan asked.
"You saw what happened the first time, I failed," Lucas said.
"That's because you weren't intentional about it. You are the almighty Alpha of the strongest pack in Moonville and beyond, you can do anything!" Stefan said "Or would you rather succumb to the fear of failing again and leave her to die? Deep down, I knew he needed to do something. I couldn't bear the pain for much longer. Lucas is also too arrogant to lose the respect of people around him.
"Fine," Lucas said.
"Where are you going?" Stefan asked.
"To do what I should have done all along," he answered.
The door opened and Lucas entered. Lucas moved towards me. He looked straight into my eyes and gave me a look I considered sexy. I hadn't seen him like that before. I was captivated by his perfectly shaped eyebrows and alluring eyes. The urge to touch his smooth skin was greater than any other thing at the moment. I tried so hard to suppress the feeling but his charms were so hard to resist. He placed his hands on mine, his eyes turned green and he closed them. I closed my eyes, perfectly enjoying the sensation I was feeling.
I saw Lucas and me, sitting in a blossoming garden, enjoying the serenity of nature. We both smiled at each other and held hands. His smile was charming and I couldn't think of any other thing than locking his lips in mine. He gently caressed my face and kissed me on the forehead. He gave me a reassuring look and said "We're unstoppable". I opened my eyes to realize it was all an imagination. Why am I imagining all these? Why would Lucas say that? I wondered if he had seen the same too.
He opened his eyes and removed his hands. I immediately felt relief, I could move my body again. I stood up and walked around and I didn't feel any pain. The healer entered and served me a potion to drink. According to him, it's to prevent further illness.
"Thank you, Lucas, you are a true leader," the healer said.
"Thank you," I said too, speaking my first words after days of being unable to. I looked up and caught him stealing glances at me. It turned into a scornful look as he left the room without acknowledging our appreciation. I felt so heartbroken. He should've just left me to die.
I reminisced on the encounter I had with my mother. Was it real? It felt like I had seen her and smelt her body. I wish they hadn't died, I wish I didn't have to do these on my own. I have missed them so much. I cried all over again.
I finally got to see the brightness of the day after I had been completely healed. I was only excited to see one person.
"Lila!" Rieka exclaimed on seeing me. I rushed quickly into her arms and we hugged passionately. "I thought I wouldn't see you again," she said. Well, maybe there was someone to live for here.
"I thought so too" I responded.
We strolled for almost eternity, laughing and sharing jokes. I felt alive again. We finally sat down under the tree. "Rieka, do you think I'm a failure?" I asked.
"What? Never! You're not and will not be a failure. You're in this pack for a reason. You're the Alpha's destined mate and..."
"He rejected me, Rieka!" I yelled with my eyes filled with tears.
She pulled me closer, "It's just a chance to prove who you are. Everyone sees you as feeble, Lila, but you know what I see?" "What?" I asked.
"A powerful and strong Luna that would bring balance and harmony to this pack," she responded.

"A powerful Luna that doesn't even know what her powers are? This is really a joke! I'm just a weak werewolf whose life is messed up!" I yelled with frustration.
"Why would the moon goddess choose someone whose life is messed up to be the Alpha's mate?" Rieka asked.
"I don't know," I answered.
"Then you need to discover why, first discover who you truly are and why you have been chosen. I'll leave you to it," she said and left.
I needed to know who I was, discover my strengths and abilities, and prove my worth to Lucas and the pack. I resolved to journey somewhere new for a few days. I needed to properly reflect on my life.
Lucas walked past me heading towards the healer's chamber. I bent my head signaling a bow. On raising my head I was met with those scornful eyes that could pierce through my skin. He didn't look like anything I had seen in my imagination earlier. I guess he didn't see anything like that when he closed his eyes. I longed to see that sexy face I had seen earlier.
I heard loud noises from the village square. I was frightened. I moved closer to see who it was. It was Derek and Jasper who had gotten into a fight. They exchanged punches and scratches before Stefan got there to call them to order. I wasn't surprised, Jasper always got into trouble one way or the other. They were both taken to the Alpha's office where they'd be punished.
I stood still at the village square lost in thought. I needed to prove my worth. I was determined to shift from feeble Lila to the powerful Luna that Rieka had described. Imagining life as a Luna left me smiling. I was jerked out of my imagination when I heard a loud voice.
"Watch out!"
