Chapter CHAPTER FOUR
I ducked immediately, not sure what was about to hit me. A round hard object landed on the floor. It was Diana who was messing around with her powers.
"Sorry! It's my powers just doing what they do best, y'know. I bet you can't relate." She laughed and ran off.
"Stale joke!" I yelled and hissed as I headed to my chambers.
I felt a sharp pain in my heart, I knew the joke hit me hard and I tried fighting back the tears already building up in my eyes.
I lay on the bed alone in my chambers. I reminisced on my life over the past few days. I had to make things right. I was determined to make Lucas regret his decision. Lucas has always been a tough and harsh Alpha. He lived a wildlife and I'd never seen him without his scornful look, except when he healed me recently. He was feared and respected by many. He ruled the pack with an iron fist and didn't hesitate to make decisions we would consider ruthless at first but always turned out to be in our best interest. I soon fell asleep.
The sounds of clattering and joyful howls woke me. I totally forgot it was today. I stopped looking forward to it after I lost my parents. I felt I had nothing to be joyful about again. It's a day where we all come together as a pack family and have fun together. There's always entertainment and stunts, some people also discover their strengths and abilities. It only happens once a year, The Lycan's Carnival. I remember the last one that was held when my family was still with me. It was all fun and filled with smiles. I had true joy that knew no bounds. My mother dressed me like a princess and she said she was preparing me to become one. I had thought I'd discover my abilities that day and when I didn't my mother assured me there's always a next time. Well, that time never came.
"Lila! Are you not up yet?" I heard Rieka asking as she opened the door.
"You know I'm not coming, Rieka," I responded while yawning.
"No, not this year again, Lila, you're coming. Get up," she said, dragging me from my bed.
"Rieka there's nothing to be happy about!" I said with tears building up in my eyes.
"Do you think I am genuinely happy?" Rieka said. I raised my head to look into her eyes. Her eyes were turning red and filled with tears.
Rieka was brought into this pack as a baby. The then Alpha said he found her mother in labor all alone in the woods and immediately after she delivered she died. She was taken care of by the then Alpha and Luna until they died. She handled the situation well and got over their death fast. Or has she been pretending all this time?
I held her close and we both burst into tears. "Why are you not happy, Rieka?" I asked.
"Lila, it hasn't been easy living my life without parental love and care. I didn't even have a chance to meet my real parents. My adopted parents too didn't stay with me as long as I wanted. Life has not been kind to me but I chose to live a happy life because spending all my days mourning the dead isn't going to change anything. I chose a happy life Lila and I want you to do the same" she said, smiling at me. A smile found its way to my lips too and we both hugged. "We're gonna miss out on all the fun if we continue this way," she said and we both laughed.
We headed to the village square just in time for the stunt display. Rieka gave a special performance that earned her a standing ovation from the elders. The day went by real quick and I had so much fun. I had been missing out on the fun all these years. We were talking and laughing loudly over the day's event before a loud knock on the door got our attention.
"Lila, your attention is needed in the Alpha's office," Stefan said. I looked around in confusion.
"It's late already," I said to Rieka.
"Go," Rieka whispered. I opened the door and followed Stefan.
"Go in," Stefan said as we got to the Alpha's office and he left. Why was he letting me go in alone? I stood still with my heart racing. The door opened and the Almighty Alpha was right in front of me. "Why are you standing there? Were you not told to enter?" he asked.
"I...I..." I couldn't put the right words together. He signaled to me to enter.
"Lila," he said, moving close to me. He pinned me against the wall whispering into my ears. His warm breath sent chills all over my body.

I closed my eyes as my wolf forced me to give in to the mating bond. His lips brushed against my lips and he kissed my jaw and neck before moving to my earlobe, causing my body to heat up. His bulge brushed against my thigh, causing my body to heat up more than it already was as my wolf saw her mate need and want for her. This is the man who rejected you as his mate, why are you letting him do this to you Lila? I asked myself, still engrossed in the sensation.
"Do you want me to stop?" he whispered right into my ear. I couldn't say no. I summoned courage and pushed him away lightly.
"You rejected me," I said.
"I want you now," he responded. My eyes lit up as I raised my face to look at him.
"Does that mean you'll accept me as your mate?" I asked. He was reluctant to answer. I knew he wouldn't accept me. He just wanted me to satisfy him.
I ran off to my chambers with tears rolling down my cheeks.
