Lucius-Ever Green Series Book Three

Chapter 32

Chloe

"Do you think it would be the best idea to travel while I am this pregnant?" Chloe said, pointing to her protuding stomach.

"I am pretty sure it is fine to travel while in your second trimester?" Lucius assured her.

"I will still call my doctor just to be sure." Chloe said to reassure herself.

"Fine," Lucius told her.

Chloe thought about trying to write to help clear her head. She looked at her old projects that she was working on with other people. They either canceled or dropped working with her. Next, she decided to check her mail. It was overflowing with all the emails she suspected from her project holders. She has some new offers after emailing them back to explain her absence for a while. After contacting everyone who she works for, she took a break from everything that she was doing for the day.

Her mind kept wandering back to the two months she had lost, she goes over to Lucius. "How much did I miss?" She asked him.

"You missed that Margo is pregnant and showing I might add. They moved up their wedding. Ava is going back to high school come September. She does not know Ian or Taylor yet." Lucius told her.

She hated Joe for making her miss those two months of her life. Another question popped into her head, "What month is it?"

"It's June," Lucius said and went back to working on whatever he was busy with.

Chloe walked past him to see what he was working on. It was the council stuff she had seen before laying the coffee table. She never understood the complexity of the supernatural world and its government laws. I guess she might have to understand them at some point.

Later that day, Chloe spent trying to keep her mind busy with doing chores that needed to be done. She kept thinking that Joe was going to sneak up behind at every noise that was behind her. Also, she did not want Lucius to worry about her at the moment, considering everything he had to deal with. She felt guilty for causing him stress.

There was a knock at the door. It made Chloe jump out of her skin. She was about to get up, but Lucius beat her to it. It was only Miles and Isdorah standing on the porch. Lucius let them both in. They saw Chloe hugged her and sat down.

"How are you guys?" Isdorah asked.

"To be honest, I have feeling more jumpy at every noise. Also, I have been having nightmares the past night. Lucius has been nothing but helpful. He gave the load down on what is coming up in the next couple of days." Chloe said, sipping her water.

"Yes, I was told the samething by Miles when we got back to his hotel room in Billings. The others were informed as well about what was going to happen. I am being charged for my involvement in your kidnapped. I am sorry for what happened to you. Joe was clearly the mastermind by what was happening in that cabin." Isdorah apologized to Chloe.

"It will take me a while to adjust to everything again. You did not harm me in any way. It was Joe and Jacob who caused me most of the harm. They ruined me emotionally." Chloe acknowledged Isdorah apology but knew it would be awhile for her to fully trust her.

"I know it will take you a while to trust me after meeting the circumstances that we were in." Isdorah took Chloe words as a chance at them being friends in the future.

"What happens now is all that counts going forward. We need to keep our word," Chloe insisted for Isdorah to follow. She held out her hand for her to take. Isdorah took her hand and pledged to keep her word.

Miles and Lucius were both in the room to watch what was going down. Chloe nodded to Lucius to say something to his mother. He never did say anything to her. Something tells Chloe that he said everything to her before she found. Intuition told her that Lucius held a grudge against his mother for being absent most of his life. Chloe would have to ask about that.

"Chloe, you will be questioned about what happened to you, and you will give to be honest," Miles tells Chloe.

"Lucius did mention I will have to testify or make a statement about my ordeal," Chloe mentions.

"The trial is in a couple of days. It will be best to prepare now about what council will want to know about. You will be asked to state your full name and take oath like they do in human courts. The council seat is like a stadium. That will be pretty much it," Miles said, giving Chloe the run down of what is going to happen in the coming days.

"How long is this going to be? I am a freelance writer, and I have projects that are due coming up in a month. I have Zoom meetings to attend to meet with clients coming up in the next coming days to next week," Chloe expressed to Miles.

"Bring your work with you. You will get down time to work on the projects. I bring my work with me on vacations or out of state meetings. I just don't run the council. Out of that place, I run my own business. Lucius helps me with some of my paperwork loads when I get swamped. Just right now for one. Luckily, he can do it remotely," Miles reassured Chloe.

"How many will be at this meeting?" Chloe asked.

"There will not be an audience, so only council members will be present," Miles said, tapping his finger against his face.

"Oh, okay, will Ian have to testify since he killed Joe?" Chloe questioned.

"He will have to explain why he did. Darius would want an answer to that," Miles said.

"I think that would be questions for now. Don't you think?" Lucius asked, clearly tired.

Miles only nodded and hugged his son. Isdorah kissed Lucius on the cheek. Before leaving, they waved to Chloe. Both were still getting used to her, and she did not mind it. Chloe went to bed that night with some of the worries answered.
