Chapter Chapter fifty seven
As soon as I walked inside I met with Henrietta. I smiled at her despite our little disagreement this morning.
“How is your day going?” I asked.
“Busy” She replied.
“Busy?” I repeated.
“Yeah. I've been trying to paint another abstract” She said to me.
“That’s great. I'll love to see it when you're finished” I said. She nodded and left.
Weird.
I ignored her. I wondered why she was being so weird and rude to me. I made my way to the kitchen to take some water before going to see Lucian. I smiled when I noticed that the plates I used in serving Lucian were here. He did eat the food.
I made my way to the stairs. As soon as I walked past the library I got called back.
“Raina” He called. His thick voice I don't think I will ever forget.
I walked back and stood in front of it. He opened the door. I stared at his shirtless body. His abs toned and his hair wet from a new shower. He was in brown shorts.
“Raina” He called again to gain my already lost attention.
“Sorry” I mumbled looking back at his perfect green eyes. His hair looks a lot browner today instead of the usual brown-black look. Lucian walked over to me and pulled me Into a hug. Shocked, I hesitated to return to the gig but when he relaxed into me I wrapped my hands around his back and let myself get lost in his intoxicating smell.
“Sorry for how I acted this morning. I was really busy but I should have said that instead of keeping mute” The vibration of his deep voice tickled my skin.
“It’s fine. I understand” I told him sincerely.
“Thank you” He withdrew from the hug to cup my face in his hands. I looked up at him. I'm indeed lucky to have him as my soul mate. Couldn't have asked for anyone different. He flashed his perfect set of white teeth at me making me blush under his intense gaze as I stared up at him.
“You’re beautiful,” He said. Gosh! I couldn't talk. I just stood still being a blushing mess.
We started at each other none of us wanting to break the silence. I looked away from him when his gaze became too long. My eyes caught a black funny looking rock. Realising my distraction Lucian followed my gaze. His gaze landed on the rock I was weirdly feeling a pull towards.
“Do you want it?” He asked. I closed my eyes looking away quickly.
“No,” I said walking towards the table not knowing why or how I kept walking ignoring Lucian's calls of my name.
“Raina!” This time I looked back then took a few steps causing me to hit the small table that had the rock on it. In shock, I gasped as I hurriedly only down and placed my palm under the table so I could catch it.
Immediately the rock touched my palm a strong wave hit me causing the rock to fly out of my hand and I could feel my eyes roll to the bed.
“Raina, Rain, Rain” Lucian kept calling but I could not bring myself to talk or get in touch with anything around me. Suddenly I felt a push on my head causing me to fall.
***************
I walked in a plain white hallway. The hallway was as silent as the night. I followed the only route there was. I walked and it seemed like I'd walked for ages without getting anywhere. Already exhausted I slumped to the ground to close my eyes to have some rest. I hadn't closed my eyes for two minutes when I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder.
“Ahriman” The voice called gently. I weirdly recognised this unusual name as mine because I stood up to face a familiar figure. A petite woman with a large scarf covering her head and her face only leaving traces of her long brown hair.
“Who are you?” I questioned immediately trying to move closer to her. She moved back quickly.
“Listen carefully Ahriman” She instructed.
“Why do you call me Ahriman. I am Raina, Raina Belmont”. She laughed.
“Ahriman. You have a lot to learn about who you truly her but one warning, nothing is ever as it seems”
“I don't understand you. How do you know me and why do I feel like I am truly this Ahriman you're talking about”
“Because you are AHRIMAN” She answered.
“But_”
“Listen, girl. You must obey every instruction I give to you”
“I know where I saw you!” I suddenly yelled when I remembered.
“I’m glad you know we've met once before,” She said.
“I didn't hear what you were saying that day. You were with your husband” I desperately wanted to know what was being said.
“It’s none of your business”
“Why show it to me then”
“You are indeed stubborn Ahriman”
“What do you want from me?” I asked.
“I need you to listen to me” She repeated.
“Ok”
I agreed.
“There are three heirlooms in the whole of the supernatural worlds. One is always kept with a witch, another with a seer/guardian and the last which I want you to find is always with the dragon shapeshifters” She started.
“Dragon shapeshifters?” I was very shocked to find this out.
“Yes. Learn about the supernatural world Ahriman you need it to win this battle.”
“What battle?”
“BLENHEIM”
“What is that?”
“You ask too many questions. Obey. Find that sword and use it”
“Use it. On who?”
“The sword can only be used on one person. Don't misuse the power of the great heirloom Ahriman” She started to walk away.
“Don’t go. I have questions!” I screamed after her. Before I could even realise it she was already gone.
*****************
I opened my eyes slowly to meet with four eyes staring down at me. Lucy's and Lucian’s.
“Ahriman,” I said.
“What?” Lucian said.
“Where did you get that from?” Lucy asked in fear. Confused I turned to Lucian.
“Can I talk to Lucy please” He didn't like this but still left.
“Is something wrong?” I asked immediately Lucian left the library.
“What does the word mean?” I asked not wanting to tell her that might be my name.
“Lord of Darkness and Chaos, and the source of human confusion, disappointment, and strife. As a sign of contempt and disgust." She recited.
“Why do you recite it?”
“We were taught at young ages about the famous God of chaos and how powerful and dangerous she can be. Where did you hear her name from Raina” it suddenly felt weird being called Raina. And it also scared me that my supposed name is already known and known for nothing but evil and destruction.
“I don’t remember” I lied.
“Trust remember?” Not in this case Lucy. I'm sorry. I'm sure once you know I am Ahriman you're going to want me dead.
“I really don't remember” I lied again.
“What happened over there?” She asked another question.
“Uhm_ a woman” I answered.
“Woman? Did she tell you anything?” I nodded.
“What did she tell you?”
“A bunch of instructions. Look for the heirloom that lies with the dragon shapeshifters and take it, use it on one person during the Blenheim” I told her.
“Fuck! Raina we really need to Lucian. We can't keep this anymore” She said scared.
“I’m confused”
“Sorry. The Blenheim is the war of peace. It never really brings peace and the last time war like this happened was when the famous power couple fought the lead in the battle.
“Ok. I should talk to Lucian” I agreed. Lucy knelt to hug me.
“It will be alright. Don't be scared” She assured me. I should be telling you all this I thought to myself.
“I’ll get Lucian,” She said leaving me all alone in my thoughts. What do I do? Leave? Run? I don't want to hurt anyone. I care too much about them to hurt them intentionally. I would never hurt them. I can't do that. Never.
Lucian came inside and rushed to me.
“Are you ok?” I nodded.
“Yes. I need to tell you something” I whispered.
“Let’s go to the room ok?” He helped me up and we left the library together. Lucian helped me on the bed because I still felt a little uneasy about what was going on.
“What is going on love. Talk to me, please” He begged.
“I will,” I told him.
“Ok. The first time I noticed was when I read the last part of the feud and accidentally burnt the book down because I was angry” I started and he didn't say anything. I liked that he wasn't intent on distracting me so I continued.
“Of course, I told Lucy. Right now I have weird powers I have no idea how I am supposed to control” I summarized.
“How does it make you feel, knowing you have strange abilities.” He asked.
“Angry. Most of the time scared. Scared of what I am capable of even without understanding the power” I confessed to him. He pulled me closer to him. My head was resting on his chest.
“You wouldn't hurt anyone” He assured me.
“What if I do?” I asked.
“Lucy will train you but Raina does this mean you're a witch too?” He asked.
“No. Lucy says I'm a seer/guardian. I don't understand how because my parents were warriors” I added.
“This is the supernatural world Raina anything is possible,” He told me.
“I’m scared” I didn't mind being vulnerable with him. At this point, I needed to be.
“It’s ok to be scared love. I'll be here to protect you” He promised. He rubbed my arm slowly making me relax a bit.
“What happened today?” He asked.
“Whenever I touch some things I see things”
“See things? Things like?”
“Uhm_ the first time it happened was when I touched the ashes from the book of the feud to know the ending of the feud. Also, when I touched one of Ri’s paintings” He looked surprised at something I said but he didn't say anything.
“So the rock today, you saw something?”
“Yes. It was different this time”
“Different? How?”
Usually, I either dream or see something of the past or what is going to happen but today I met someone and she gave me instructions” I explained to him. He listened carefully as I told him about the woman but I made sure to leave out the name this time.
“A bunch of instructions. Look for the heirloom that lies with the dragon shapeshifters and take it, use it on one person during the Blenheim” I repeated exactly what I said to Lucy to Lucian.
“The Blenheim?” I nodded.
“Yes”
“Only one person that can pass on that instruction to you Raina”
“Who”
“Abigail,” He said already thinking of whatever.
“Abigail? Who is that”
“She and her husband, Angus. They lead the last Blenheim together and only they can pass the fight to another” He explained gently.
“Why did they choose me?” I asked.
“I don't know Raina. We need to act fast. Tell my parents. There should know more about Abigail and Angus” He said. I agreed with him on that.
“Should we go to them now?” I asked.
“We can if you're not too tired,” He said. I was tired but I will not tell him that. I need to understand what is going on.
“I’m not” I lied.
“Ok. Let me tell them we will be coming over in an hour” He said standing up. He helped me lay down. He kissed my lips.
“Have some rest while they get ready for our visit.” He said leaning the room with a smile.
(in italics)
“Good job Ahriman. You have passed the first stage. Don't trust anyone with your true identity like you already figured. Fight and come back victorious” The woman who I now know as Abigail's voice said. I looked around to look for her but she was nowhere to be found.
What a Creep I thought.
