Chapter 502

The nurses‘ voices gradually became quieter until they couldn’t be heard anymore.

Their words about Winson’s injury played in Millie’s mind. It suddenly clicked why his hands felt so hot when he went to see her and why he remained unconscious. His injury was far worse than Sean’s.

Sean definitely had a stronger physique.

Just as Millie was about to ask Sean if he had arrived, she received a text message with a photo from him.

Sean: “I’ve arrived safely. See you in a few days.”

Millie: “I’m sorry for standing you up.”

Sean: “Family is important. Hope your grandma is well.”

Millie: “Thank you, Mr. Stringer.”

Sean: “No worries.”

Millie looked at the photo of the stunning night view Sean had taken abroad. It was so beautiful and unlike anything she had seen in her home country. She wondered if she would ever have the chance to visit that place.

However, she couldn’t go for now because her family was going through a tough time. She didn’t want to add to their stress.

In the early morning, a nurse woke Millie up. “Ms. Caldwell, we’re taking a blood sample from Madam Layla.”

“Alright.” Millie nodded, still groggy and sore from sleeping on the side of the bed all night. She stretched

and walked to the window to look outside.

The inpatient department was located on a remarkably high floor. The surrounding was enveloped in dense fog, making it nearly impossible to see anything. Hence, Millie had no choice but to go out to the corridor to stretch.

As soon as she stepped out, she ran into some of Layla’s friends. They hurried over and asked, “Millie, how is your grandma?”

“My grandma is fine,” Millie replied.

They wanted to enter the ward to see Layla, but Millie kindly declined. “I apologize, but the doctor advised that Grandma needs to rest more. And she’s still unconscious. She won’t be able to see anyone now. But I’ll make sure to update you as soon as I can, alright?

After hearing this, everyone realized it was difficult to push through. Thus, they just agreed and left.

Millie knew that some of them were truly concerned about Layla, while others might not be. So, she decided it was better not to allow them into the ward or disclose Layla’s condition for now.

After seeing off one group of people, another group arrived. Millie was drained from entertaining them. She promptly contacted the nurse station to emphasize the importance of not divulging Layla’s ward

location to anyone.

The influx of visitors was primarily due to media and hospital staff.

Millie warned, “My grandma’s condition must remain confidential. Anyone found disclosing it will be promptly removed from the hospital.”

They all understood the seriousness of her words.

Millie returned to the ward to find that the nurse had already finished drawing Layla’s blood. She looked at Layla in the bed with a worried expression.

Before Millie could even sit, the door of the ward was pushed open once more. She was about to reprimand the intruders, telling them to leave and keep quiet, when she heard Arthur ask, “Is she awake?”

Millie turned and saw Arthur walking in tiredly. He had been up all night and had rushed over to see Layla after making soup.

“Not yet. But her condition is stable. Grandpa, don’t worry. She should wake up today,” replied Millie.

Arthur nodded and said, “You look tired. Go home and rest.”

“Alright. I’ll come tonight to take over from you, okay?” Millie was indeed tired because she hadn’t had a good rest for two nights.

“Mm–hmm.” Arthur nodded.

Shortly afterward, Millie left and bumped into Joanna at the hospital entrance.
