“Winston deserves it!” Julia said, scoffing.

Terrence agreed with Julia but criticized her for speaking it out. “You don’t need to say everything you feel.

She pursed her lips and nodded in reluctant agreement.

At that moment, Arthur started coughing. Julia quickly went toward him and asked, “Dad, are you okay?”

Arthur had just recovered from his illness, so they planned to send him home. Staying there wasn’t good for his health.

“Dad, you go back first. Terrence and I will take care of Mom.” Julia assured Arthur, but he shook his head and coughed again.

Julia’s heart ached for him. Arthur and Layla had gone through thick and thin together. Even though Layla was usually serious, Arthur was okay with letting her be in charge.

“Don’t make me leave. How can I leave with peace of mind if she’s still unconscious?” Arthur held Layla’s hand again.

Julia had no choice but to give up. She knew he would feel unsettled if he returned home by himself. But since everyone was here to take care of him, nothing bad would happen.

“Where’s Millie? She’s been missing since Mom came out of the operating room. She’s becoming increasingly willful.” Terrence was displeased.

“Perhaps she can’t handle the bad news. She’s already under a lot of pressure, so please try to understand.

Julia glared at him.

Terrence scoffed. “You’ve spoiled her too much.”

“Since you said I spoiled her, why don’t you reach out to her yourself?”

While they were talking, the door opened, and Millie entered. “Were you going to call me?”

Her parents stared at her and said nothing..

Millie had slept at M Base. Before coming to the hospital, she freshened up and changed her clothes. She had cried so much in the morning; her eyes were still swollen and red.

Terrence had intended to reprimand her, but when he saw how upset she was, he chose to hold back his words.

Millie approached Arthur and gently patted his shoulder. “Grandpa, go home and get some rest,” she urged.

“No,” Arthur replied stubbornly.

Millie ignored him and turned to Terrence and Julia. “Mom, Dad, I can see how tired you are. Take Grandpa home, and you can take my place tomorrow.

Layla might remain unconscious for a while. Her recovery would be a substantial undertaking, requiring long–term care and attention.

“Okay,” Terrence agreed immediately.

Millie smiled and helped Arthur to his feet. “Grandpa, listen to me. I’m here with Grandma. Everything will be okay. I’ll make sure someone picks you up as soon as she wakes up.”

Terrence sighed and added, “Yes, Dad. If you’re sick again–with Mom already in this condition–what will become of our family? Please, go back with us and rest.

Arthur couldn’t stop crying at their words.

“Grandpa, Grandma is okay. It’s just her arm that’s injured. It won’t have a big impact on her. Don’t cry,” Millie tried to assure him.

Arthur pouted and walked toward the door.

Millie also felt a pang of sadness once she finished speaking. After sending Terrence, Julia, and Arthur away, she diligently cleaned up the mess in the ward. Soon, it looked much cleaner and tidier.

She retrieved her own set of tools and was eager to try them on Layla once more.

That night, her phone chimed with the latest news in Yerwick.

The sound of multiple nurses walking could be heard outside the ward, followed by the question, “Has Mr. Greer not woken up yet?

“Mr. Greer’s condition was initially assumed to be a mere fever, yet it turned out that he had sustained injuries. It appeared that he had been wounded during the cruise, and the wound had been repeatedly exposed to water, leading to recurrent infections.”

Millie glanced at the door before returning her focus to administering acupuncture to Layla.
