Keeper Of The Flame

Chapter 55: Needing Her

Everyone is so stupid to think that I won't come for her. I know she will be angry and want to rip my head off my shoulders. I know that I hurt her when I made that decision that day. But I was angry. Angry that she didn't think of her own safety. I waited long enough.

I lay on top of the hill watching her when I heard the shot and then saw her falling. I rolled on my back trying to find out where it came from. Then I saw the woman stand up holding the shotgun.

That bitch shot her. She killed the woman I have loved since high school. I pulled my cell phone out of my pocket and snapped her picture.

She stood there watching club members run around with guns while Shawn was lifted and carried inside the club. Then she laughed and I heard her say.

"Now that she and that bastard child is dead I will be Gunner's woman."

I looked around to make sure I was not seen and walked down the trail. I put the gun in the trunk of my car got in and started it. I did not know that I had been followed and pictures had been taken of my car as well as myself holding the gun and looking down at the club.

If I had known I would have been out of the state as I knew that when you messed with a claimed woman her man would find you and kill you.

I thought I had covered my tracks but I didn't. That bitch killed her. I would not have hurt her but she did. I looked at the picture and realized this was Shadow's wife.

"I was so angry she killed Shawn and I sent the pictures to Shadow's cell phone."

I walked through the woods and got on my bike and rode into town. I was in shock. I just wanted to get Shawn to talk to me again. I never wanted her harmed. My brothers are going to be pissed when they hear that Shawn was shot and could be dead.

I made another poor choice of threatening her brother's club. If they find out it was me it could start a war between our club and his. Why can't I just accept she is claimed and pregnant now and move on?
