I'm the Alpha's World

Chapter 20

I see a shadow under the closet door and suddenly the door handle begins to turn. All I want is for Sebastian to get my message, that's my dying wish.

The door swings open and I squeeze my eyes shut. Instead of screams or growls I hear laughter. Laughter. My eyes shoot open to see the three of them clenching their stomachs and wiping tears from their eyes. Henry, Kandy, and Fiona, but they won't be laughing for long.

"What the hell!" I shout and attempt to get up from the corner. "What's going on!"

"It was a joke, it was all a prank," Henry chuckles and helps me up. But just when I'm standing I smack him across the face. Kandy's eyes bulge and she hurries to his side. "Evangeline calm down-"

"Calm down, calm down!" I yell and storm out of the closet. "I almost had a heart attack, what in your mind told you it was okay to scare the hell out of a pregnant woman!"

His face turns pale. "It wasn't my idea, it's w-was Fiona's!" He points and her.

"My idea!" She argues. "I joined in last minute because you were planning on scaring me too! It was you two!" She points at Kandy and Henry before they both book it down the hall.

"Look I don't even care anymore, but I left Sebastian a message and it was very emotional- I thought I was going to die!"

"Well what did you say?" She asks me, worried about what he might do.

"That I love him and our baby loves him and-"

"Oh god, we're so dead."

"Well he wasn't answering the phone, so he might not have gotten the message yet. Let's just go downstairs and call him from the number he left." I suggest and Fiona nods before we both rush downstairs. I grab the house phone in the kitchen and find the note. Quickly I dial the number and hold the phone to my ear, praying that he'll answer.

"Evangeline, I'm just leaving the Knowles pack now, I should be home in two hours." His voice comes through the speaker and I turn to Fiona. I give her a signal before she does a little happy dance.

"Sebastian," my heart is still racing from before and I remember back to how I felt. "I love you."

"Is everything okay? What's going on?"

"Can you just hurry home, I really miss you." I mutter and wipe stray tears from my eyes. All the sudden emotion has my mind running wild.

"Evangeline did something happen?"

I look back at Fiona and she sees the tears in my eyes. She begins to panic and takes the phone from me. "No, no, everything is fine. She just a little emotional, you know, pregnant women. Okay, she'll be waiting safe and sound."

She sets the phone back on its holder and looks at me. "Evangeline I'm sorry if we scared you, I didn't think you would react this bad."

"I thought I would never see him again, I thought I was going to die and so was my baby!" I shout at her. "So ya, I was scared!"

She attempts to reach out but I step back. "I think you should go.

"Evan-"

"Get out!" I yell and turn away, not wanting to see the look on her face. But I hear footsteps growing distant before the door opens and shuts.

With my arms crossed I lean against the kitchen counter. I'm sure I sound crazy to them, but everything in the moment felt so real. I wouldn't doubt for a moment that there's some people out there that want to hurt me, it was too believable, especially after the kidnapping.

Why would Henry think it was a good idea to prank me? Unless Kandy put him up to it, because Henry has never pranked anyone before, well that I know of. Maybe Kandy's a little more childish then I thought.

Two hours pass slowly as I sleep peacefully, knowing Sebastian should be home soon. As I rest my dreams take me away.

"Mommy."

"Mommy wake up."

My eyes lazily peel open as I look in front of me. I see a person, a child.

"Mom, Can I play outside with Amber and Bradley?"

Slowly I sit up and notice I'm in the bedroom. I glance to the side of the bed to see a little girl, maybe the age of seven. "Who are you?" I ask, feeling calm.

"I'm Jasmine, you're daughter?" She giggles at me and climbs up on the bed beside me.

"What?"

I back away and her face grows confused. "Mom are you feeling okay? Can I go out with Amber and Bradley, they're waiting for me?"

"Who are they?" My heart starts to pound harder as the girl continues to give me weird looks.

"I think you hit your head." She falls back on my pillow and I look around the room for Sebastian. "Amber and Bradley are my friends because of you, you're friends with their mom."

"Fiona?"

My eyes focus on her as she nods. "Can I play now?"

"Where's Sebastian?"

"Dad, he's probably doing whatever he does, I don't know. I'm leaving now, I'll be safe." She jumps off the bed and runs out of the room.

Quickly I pull the covers off and try to follow the girl, and when I look around the corner she's running down the stairs. I run to catch up to her as she leads me into the living room. Everything looks different, it's brighter in here and there's toys scattered on the floor.

I chase her out of the house and into the summer breeze. "Sebastian!" I call out.

"Sebastian is in a guard meeting."

I look to the side to see Fiona bend over playing with chalk along with a little boy and girl. It's Fiona, but she looks older, more mature. "You should find him there, don't worry I'll have my eye on Jasmine."

I stare at her before I realize I have to go.

"Sebastian!" I yell as I run in one direction as if my feet aren't obeying my mind, they're taking me somewhere.

"Evangeline is everything okay?"

My heart stops and so do my feet. I spin around to see Sebastian standing with a guard. My breath catches in the back of my throat when I see his face, he looks so handsome and rugged. "Evangeline?"

Stubble covers his jaw and chin. "Evangeline?"

"Evangeline." A soft voice fills my ears and my eyes shoot open. My breaths are heavy and I look up to see Sebastian sitting on the edge of the bed beside me. "I didn't want to wake you up, but I couldn't help it, I missed you."

My vision blurs as I picture the Sebastian from my dream.

"Hey, why are you crying?" He cups my cheek and wipes away my tear with his thumb.

"I saw you."

"What are you talking about?" He asks and I sit up.

"And I saw her, Jasmine, that's what she said her name was-"

"Evangeline what are you talking about?"

I grab his hand and hold it in my own. "My dream, I dreamt of us and the baby, she was seven or eight. Her name was Jasmine."

He leans down and to my surprise he softly kisses me on the cheek. "That's wonderful, I hope I was still good looking."

I laugh and playfully shove him. "No, you looked a bit like a troll."

"Okay." He sarcastically exaggerates and I quickly steal a kiss from him.

"I love you." I mumble with my forehead against his. "So much that it hurts."

"I love you too sweetheart." He swiftly kisses my lips before standing up and slipping off his shirt. "Anything happen while I was gone?"

As he walks into the bathroom, I call to him. "No, just movies and food. Henry and Kandy went to a house by the lake."

I hear the sink running and I assume he's brushing his teeth. When he's done he walks back out and changes. "That's nice, I'm glad they're getting along."

He glances at his phone and he raises an eyebrow. "Did you guys leave a message?" Sebastian grabs the phone and I panic.

"Oh that's nothing, we just-"

Suddenly the message plays out and into the bedroom. "Sebastian, I just want to tell you I love you and so does our baby. I'm so scared, I think someone's in the house and I can't defend myself like this, but Fiona went down a-and I heard her scream. I-I love you with all my heart and if we never see each o-other again just- I love you-"

Hearing the message makes my heart ache and I look away from him. "It was a mistake, nothing happened."

He swallows and places the phone on the dresser. "Nothing happened?" He asks slowly, obviously knowing something went down. "Then explain that."
