I'm the Alpha's World

Chapter 19

The weeks go by quickly and my tummy only grows bigger and bigger. We attend weekly appointments with Doctor Swanson for check ups to make sure everything is still running smoothly, and so far it is.

Kandy and Henry have been getting along great and she is now moving into the pack house with us, but not before Fiona warned Henry, being the protective big sister she is. Kandy was embarrassed even though the rest of us found it quite entertaining. Fiona and I went shopping for maternity clothes a few days ago, it was nice to spend time with her to take my mind off my father.

I can't help but wonder if he is safe, or if he's in North Dakota, or even if he's alive. In my life you can never be sure.

I lay in bed, too lazy to get up. It's well past noon and by now I would be up and running, but today my body is aching. Luckily I have Fiona by my side spending the day with me, even though I think she's just using me for an excuse to be lazy too. "I wonder what it would be like to be famous." She says beside me while flipping through a magazine. "These women all look so glamorous."

"The media just makes fame look glamorous, but I bet after a while the novelty fades away and they just want some privacy." I groan when attempting to sit up. "You spend too much time looking through those magazines."

"They keep me connected to the outside world and what's popular right now. Somedays I wish I could have a normal life and not be in this pack, and not be a werewolf."

"We all do somedays, at least I think." I attempt again to sit up but this time Fiona notices and she helps me.

"That baby is really growing isn't she?"

"Painfully so," I mutter and watch the T.V. "But in the end it'll all be worth it. I don't tell Sebastian about the rough days, I don't want to worry him."

"Do you want me to grab your meds?"

"No, I'm fine now," I decline.

"I worried about Kandy, she's really falling for Henry hard."

"Isn't that a good thing? They're mates and they should love each other."

She sighs, "I know you love Henry but I'm just scared he's going to break her heart."

"Henry would never reject Kandy, believe me." I assure her by placing my hand on her shoulder.

A small smile molds from her lips. "You're right, I just want her to be happy."

We spent the rest of the day in bed until it got dark out. Sebastian had to make a short trip to the Knowles Pack, one of our allies, which is a ways away. He should be back early in the morning so Fiona is staying the night with me.

He left a phone number to call him and a few other emergency contacts on a note in the kitchen. He even set up two guards to walk around the house and make sure nothing goes wrong. Ever since I saw the rouge out by the forest line the night I was talking to the moon goddess, Sebastian has raised the number of guards on the border.

I felt safe with the extra protection and it settled my nerves.

Fiona and I put a movie on in the bedroom and curled up in the blankets with a few snacks. I ate most of them and even smacked Fiona's hand away when she reached for the popcorn.

Marina has gone home by now and it was just Fiona and I in the house. Henry and Kandy left earlier today to stay at one of the houses by the lake, seeking a somewhat secluded getaway. It was weird to not have Sebastian or Henry here, but I was extremely grateful I had Fiona. I can proudly say she is my best friend, especially after all that we've done together. She's like the sister I've never had.

"This movie sucks." She groans and throws a bag of gummy bears at the tv.

"Hey, I was going to eat those!"

"I'm putting on a scary movie."

I immediately protest. "No you're not, the last thing I need is to be paranoid when we're all alone."

"Evan, there's guards just outside, nothing can get us." She rolls her eyes at me and chooses the horror category on Netflix. "How about- Are you serious?"

I look up at the screen to see a stereotypical werewolf scary movie. "Is this some kind of joke, the guy doesn't even turn into a wolf, he just gets really hairy!"

I laugh at her rant and soon enough Fiona joins me. "Let the humans think what they want."

She scrolls through a few more movie before coming up to the Lazarus Effect. "I've heard of this, scientists bring a girl back from the dead and she's all messed up!"

"No."

"Evangeline don't be a baby, that's the baby in your bellies job."

"I'm not watching it."

"If you don't watch it with me I'm taking away the snacks." She threatens and my face turns hard.

"Fine." I mumble and hold onto the popcorn bowl. "But if I get too scared you have to shut it off."

"Deal."

The movie starts and the beginning seems normal. I stuff my face with gummy bears and so does Fiona until a pop-up comes and they fly everywhere. We continue to watch anyways. "Somethings not right with her!" Fiona yells at the T.V.

"Just kill her!" I join in.

As the movie seems to get more and more creepy I begin to search out the windows, making sure no ones out there. It's when I see something from the corner of my eye that I scream.

"What the heck!" Fiona shouts at me. "You scared the crap out of me!"

"Somethings outside." I whisper.

"It's probably just the guards."

I shake it off and we continue to watch the movie, and I was on the edge of turning it off when it turned off itself. "She's coming for us!" I scream and Fiona gets up to check the T.V.

"It's not turning on or off." She tries the lights and nothing happens. "The powers out."

"Well turn it back on!"

"I don't want to go outside, the power box is on the side of the house!"

"Do you think someone turn off the power then?" I ask slowly. "Why would the guards turn off the power?" I begin to panic and Fiona comes and joins me back on the bed. I hug her close.

"I'll go check on the guards-"

"No, you can't go out there!" I grab onto her arm.

Well we have to do something, we can't just sit-"

A loud band sounds from downstairs and my grip on Fiona tightens. "What the hell was that?" I quietly whisper, my voice shaking.

"Evangeline, if we really are in danger, I need you to let me go check. This could mean our safety okay? Just let me go check quickly and I'll be right back." She tries to convince me and I shake my head, no.

"I can't let you, this is an order now and as the Luna I can do that type of crap."

Another crashing sound blares in my ears and tears gather in my eyes. My heart pounds like a drum caged in my chest as Fiona pulls out of my grasp.

"Evangeline you're over reacting, I'll be right back." Fiona looks me dead in the eyes before leaving the room and disappearing down the hallway.

I run my hand through my hair and begin to freak out. I spot Fiona's phone on the bedside table and I immediately grab it. Quickly, I dial Sebastian's number but he doesn't pick up. "Come on." I yell at the phone and throw it at the bed. The number Sebastian left to reach him is downstairs in the kitchen, I should have told Fiona to grab it.

A female scream rings in my ears and my heart stops.

I swiftly grab her phone and run into the closet as tears stream down my cheeks like a waterfall. After closing the door I curl up in the corner. My body aches from all the sudden movement and I rub my small belly in search for some relief.

With the phone in my hand I dial Sebastian's number, this time waiting to leave a message. "Sebastian, I just want to tell you I love you and so does our baby." Tears blur my vision as I continue. "I'm so scared, I think someone's in the house and I can't defend myself like this, but Fiona went down a-and I heard her scream. I-I love you with all my heart and if we never see each o-other again just- I love you-"

Another bang fills my ears, this one closer then the others. A sob erupts from my throat as I hold the phone to my ear. The message ends and I rest my head on the back of the wall. I can hear footsteps getting closer, and it feels like the end.
