“Let’s get a divorce. I’ve already drafted the divorce papers and they will be at the house tomorrow. Remember to come back and sign
them.”
I didn’t wait for either of their reactions, nor did I give Damon a chance to speak. I walked straight out.
I grabbed my phone and requested leave from the department head before running out of the hospital.
Damon followed me. He ran much faster than I did and caught up with me just outside the hospital, pulling me into his arms.

home.
As I hurriedly packed my things and was about

“I’m sorry, honey, please don’t divorce me.” It was rare to see him back down recently.

I shoved him away in disgust.
As I pulled my suitcase and walked out the door, Damon called after me, “Are you really leaving?”
I didn’t stop; I left without hesitation.
