I Wish

Chapter 7

Chapter 7

At that moment, Carol caught up with us. She realized we had already discussed the phone

call incident.

Carol, taking the initiative, immediately burst into tears. “Damon, when Ashley called, I didn’t hear what she said clearly. I thought it was nothing important, so I forgot to tell you.”

I looked at her innocent and guiltless expression and gave a sarcastic smile. “You didn’t hear clearly? Are you deaf?”

I couldn’t hold it in anymore and decided to confront her directly.

into Damon’s arms, crying as if she were about to pass out, full of remorse. “I’m so sorry, Damon. It’s all my fault for not hearing clearly…”

I thought Damon would blame her, especially since this involved the death of my father.

I stared at him coldly. The PPT was last with Carol; she was the one who lost it. Yet Damon blamed me and spoke up for Carol.

“Apologize to Dr. Brown, Ashley,” he demanded.

I was furious and cried. Carol lost the PPT, but

he wanted me to apologize?

His favoritism left me heartbroken. But that night, he managed to cheer me up with a small cake, explaining that he was only trying to look out for a newcomer and meant no harm.

I believed him then. But this time, I didn’t need his explanations or his attempts to console me.
