Chapter 509
Chapter 509 Psychological Defenses
Benjamin shook his head and said, "I have to respectfully address you as Uncle Charlie. You have been in the Martin Group since my grandfather started managing it. Over the years, I have witnessed your tireless contributions and unwavering dedication, that is why I entrust you with this critical project."
His words, wrapped in politeness, sent a shiver down Charlie's spine. Charlie sensed the underlying storm in Benjamin's calm demeanor.
Charlie asked, "Mr. Martin, there's no need for such formality. If you have something to say, just say it plainly."
Benjamin's eyes narrowed slightly as he asked directly, "Are you certain no one has left in recent days? Has anyone gone out through that door?"
Charlie frowned and fell silent.
Benjamin smiled, "Since someone has indeed slipped out, then call them back here."
Charlie's solemn expression made it clear he understood the implication.
With a weary sigh, Charlie nodded and turned to leave.
Looking at Charlie's back, Curtis murmured, "Mr. Martin, do you think Frank will be able to remain calm?"
"He couldn't reach Harper and doesn't know if Harper has informed me of this. He can only guess at everything now. Especially knowing that I've had people watching him but taken no action, which will only serve to unsettle him further." Benjamin had no intention of confronting Frank directly. His aim was to slowly chip away at Frank's psychological defenses to defeat Frank with little effort.
Benjamin was waiting for Frank to take the initiative to reveal evidence that proved the landslide incident was related to him.
A cold and calculating smile appeared on Benjamin's face.
Curtis nodded in agreement. "But if you move too hastily, could Frank sense our strategy? Would that jeopardize our next steps?"
"It doesn't matter. Whether he knows or not, it changes nothing."
Benjamin's recent business trip was a ruse, a feint to make Harper believe and to mislead Frank. The objective was met, so Benjamin didn't care about when Frank would know it.
A few minutes later, Charlie knocked on the door and came in.
Behind him stood Emery, who kept his gaze firmly downcast to avoid Benjamin's piercing gaze.
Charlie said, "Mr. Martin, I've brought Emery here as you asked."
Benjamin smiled calmly, "Well, why did you bring him here?"
Charlie's voice carried a seriousness as he explained, "Mr. Martin, Emery is the only one who's left in recent days. He did it to meet his wife and children, who came to see him because his parents have been unwell. He was gone for about an hour."
Charlie explained and turned to Emery, gripping his arm firmly. "Tell Mr. Martin where you went."
Emery remained silent, keeping his head down.
He looked a little flustered and
distracted. Benjamin observed every nuance of his behavior. Before
Emery could muster a word,
Benjamin interjected, "Where did you venture off to? I made it clear no one was to leave until we've concluded

you've painted yourself as a suspect."
out,
Emery's face turned pale, and his eyes were wide with a dull panic "Mr. Martin, I swear I haven't done anything wrong! I just went to see my family. It has nothing to do with me"

Charlie opened his mouth, perhaps to defend Emery, but Benjamin cut him off.
Benjamin smiled, "Don't be nervous. If you truly have nothing to hide, there's nothing to fear. But let's ensure there are no more 'urgent' departures next time, shall we?"
