Chapter 504 Lost Their Freedom

Harper shook her head and didn't think much of it. She sat on the couch in the living room as Mina, the maid, brought in fruit and some snacks.

An hour or so later, she called Benjamin again, but she realized that her phone was in a state of no signal.

Harper frowned as she walked over to the window and realized there was still no signal. Finding this odd, she picked up the landline phone directly from Mansion No. 7. But there was a beeping sound coming from the receiver. Harper was a bit puzzled and called out to Mina. "Why is there no signal here? Did Benjamin deactivate the signal in the house?"

Mina responded, "Mrs. Martin, I don't know about that."

Feeling helpless, Harper then headed for the door. She prepared to go out and give it a try.

But before Harper could take a step after opening the door, she was stopped directly by two bodyguards.

Harper frowned in displeasure, "What are you doing?"

"Mrs. Martin, I'm sorry. You can't go out."

A bodyguard lowered his head and responded very politely.

Harper, however, got a little offended and questioned, "What do you mean?"

"Mrs. Martin, please don't give us a hard time. We are doing what Mr. Martin wants. You might as well go in."

Harper froze, thinking, "What Benjamin wants?"

She asked incredulously, "You're saying Benjamin told you guys not to let me out?"

The bodyguards didn't say anything, but it was already a default.

Harper said, "I need to find him. You guys give him a call. I'm going to ask him."

"I'm sorry, Mrs. Martin, but we can't get in touch with Mr. Martin either. Mr. Martin has cut off the signal here. So we have no way to contact the outside world for now. You'd better go inside and rest." After saying that, the bodyguards directly closed the door.

It was clearly forbidden for Harper to step outside this door.

Harper was utterly flustered. She found Mina, who was preparing lunch, and asked, "What the hell is Benjamin up to? When did you guys start coming over here?"

Mina responded in a low voice, "Mrs. Martin, you shouldn't ask so much. Please take a rest first, and you can eat later. Mr. Martin naturally has his reasons for arranging it this way."

Harper had no way of taking it in and had no desire to rest or eat.

She stood in the middle of the living room in silence, her mind blank. But all of it and Benjamin's sudden business trip to Teninus made her realize something.

Harper thought, "Benjamin probably already knows, doesn't he?"

She looked out the window without blinking and thought, "Is he keeping me here and not allowing me to contact anyone because he knows?

Is he afraid I'll tip Frank off?"

The more Harper thought about it, the more messed up her mind became.

She could move around here as she pleased, but she was no different from those who had lost their freedom.

Harper thought, "If Benjamin really keeps me here because he knows everything, why doesn't he ask me?

If he asked, I would say it."

She had planned to say it. It was just that since Benjamin said he had to go to Teninus on business, she was going to wait until he got back.

Harper didn't even eat lunch. She had no appetite at all. No matter what Mina said, she didn't want to eat.

She told Mina, "I want to see Benjamin. If he doesn't come, I'll stay hungry."

Harper was gambling that Benjamin would come to see her for the sake of the baby in her belly.

But Benjamin didn't come till the afternoon. Mina said, "Mrs. Martin, not only you have no way to contact with the people outside, but I am also the same. So you'd better take care of yourself." Harper didn't respond in any way. She leaned back on the couch and glared at the sunlight coming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

At dinner, she just took two bites of her food and put down the fork.

She wasn't being inconsiderate of her baby but just didn't have the appetite.

At about ten o'clock at night, Harper was lying in the master bedroom where she lived with Benjamin. Her hands were down at her sides, clenched as if she was holding something back.

It wasn't long before she suddenly got out of bed and opened the bedroom door to call for Mina. She said to Mina, "My belly hurts, and I don't know if it's because I haven't eaten anything. Call Dr. Gene to come here and check me out, okay?"
