I am Alpha (Book 1 of I Am series)

Chapter 10

Sam P.O.V

We threw punch after punch for ages. Until I finally got behind him and he wasn’t quick enough to turn around. I lunged, I was on his back with my arms around his throat. He was swinging around trying to get me off of him. He hit me into the pole, it had a mat wrapped around it but it still hurt. “Arghh.” I screamed as I hit the pole again I felt and heard one of my ribs snap. So I clinged on even tighter around his neck, he knew he could tap out when he needed to same with me but I don’t think that’s going to happen. He eventually threw me off and I hit the pole again, I heard another bone break. I was lying on my side, clutching my ribs, crying. As soon as I was off of Cole’s back, he came running over to me. “I’m so sorry.” He said quietly, stroking my hair. I jumped back up and stepped away from him, no matter how much it hurt me I wasn’t going to take sympathy. “No don’t.” I said silently crying. I forced my body to keep going. I ran at him and he......stood there, he was waiting for me to punch him, but the punch never came. I stopped right before I hit him, my fist millimetres from his face. I dropped my hand to my side.

I felt so bad for hurting her, I don’t know why, I hate her....don’t I? My head hung low as I waited for her to punch me I deserved it. But it never came. “What are you doing? Why aren’t you fighting me?” She asked, confused, she now had her hand on where her ribs are broken. I looked up to see her red glowing eyes filled with tears from pain. “No, I hurt you.” I said closing my eyes and looking away. “So what if you hurt me we’re Alphas for gods sake, it’s what we’re supposed to do.” Sam yelled but then coughed up blood. “You need to shift, it will heal faster, it’ll hurt though.” I said. “Fine, but that wasn’t an order that I’m following I’m doing it because I don’t want to go home with broken ribs.” She said and coughed up more blood.

I wasn’t going to bother taking my clothes off this time it would be to painful. So I decided to shift right where I was. I went to collapse from the pain but I never felt the floor come in contact instead, there were strong arms, Cole. He held me as I screamed in pain, it wasn’t as bad as the first time I shifted but it came close to it. I gave one last blood curdling scream and I had shifted. Cole slowly let me down on the ground. My ribs were fine now. I looked at Cole, I stayed down still staring into his eyes I wanted to look away but I couldn’t. Those deep grey alluring eyes stopped me from looking away.

I finally stood up and saw my torn clothes on the ground, he followed my gaze and nodded. He left the gym and came back with some clothes. I waited for him to leave the gym before I shifted back and put the clothes on. I walked out of the gym to see Cole leaning against the door, waiting. “I’m sorry, Sam.” He said when he saw me. “Can you stop with the apologies, we were doing what Alphas do.” I said with an annoyed voice. “Fine then.” He said putting his arms up in surrender. “I’ve gotta go my dad will be home from work now.” I said walking off. I went into the house keeping my mouth sealed about what just happened and said my good byes.

I got back to my house and the front door was opened a little. My dad would never leave it open, it’s freezing out here. ‘Something isn’t right.’ Leah said worriedly. ‘Yeah I know.’ I agreed. I ran up to the door and stopped right in the door way. “Dad,” I yelled. I ran through the house, there was the metallic smell of....blood. “Dad.” I screamed when I found him lying in the living area. I checked to see if he was breathing and left to find where the smell of blood was coming from. I followed the scent and reached the bathroom. “Leooo.” I cried and ran to him. He was also unconscious lying in a pool of blood, he was breathing and had a pulse but it was weak. I knelt down grabbed a towel from behind me and searched him to find where the source of blood was coming from. He had bite marks from a wolf all over his abdomen, I covered the wound as best as I could and applied pressure with one hand and with the other covered in blood I grabbed my phone. And dialled Zaya’s number, hoping she was still at Jo’s house. She picked up on the first ring. “Hello.” She said calmly. “Zaya get everyone over to my house and bring the pack doctor. NOW.” I yelled and threw the phone against the wall. “Come on Leo.” I sobbed applying more pressure.
