Her Undeniable Temptation

Zoe had told her mum Lilian to schedule an appointment. Though it took a lot of courage for her to tell her to do that! When Zoe asked her to help her, they ended up having a long conversation on why she needed such an appointment.

She told Lilian to allow her to go if she didn’t want grandchildren this early. So, now she was sitting in the OB-GYN waiting room with her mum. Zoe felt so nervous that it was driving her totally crazy. In a short while, she had to go into a room! Strip and get checked, Zoe tried not to die from humiliation.

Her mom was reading a magazine while Zoe was staring at the ceiling. ”Zoe Zander?” A nurse called her name, she looked at her mum and she asked. “Scared,” She asked and Zoenodded. ”Don’t be Zoe, you got this.” She nods in encouragement.

Zoe trudged quietly behind the nurse to her doom. After the appointment which felt really embarrassing beyond belief, it was over. She felt much better to know that she was healthy and she had a prescription of birth control just waiting to be filled, her mum had gone on and on about how proud she was of her for doing this.

Zoe got home and went straight to her room. She shoved her face in a pillow, thank God! For those checkups we’re just once a year. It was just three in the afternoon but she ended up sleeping. Zoe guessed because the house was quiet and Luke wasn’t home.

Zoe slept right through dinner and everything else as well. She woke up around eight and took a hot shower! Her mum went to bed early and Luke wasn’t sleeping at home today.

Dad was going to be back today. so she was definitely waiting for him, it was already ten when she was done with showering and eating! Zoe stayed on the couch watching MTV base.

Luke and Dora kept texting until both of them got tired and went to bed. It’s the weekend but both of them have gone to bed, geez! Zoe literally got bored waiting for dad and started to walk around her house like she hadn’t seen it before.

Her phone rang, scaring the crap out of her. She checked the caller id, it was Alex. ”Yes?” She answered.

”Good, you’re still awake,” he said. He didn’t sound a bit tired. “Yeah. I took a nap and now I can’t fall asleep but I’m basically waiting for my dad.” she said. ”What are you doing up?” Zoe asked while looking out through the window at the empty street.

“I never sleep. That’s with me being half-vampire, you know.” Alex said from the other line.

Zoe smiled at his enthuthiasm before replying. “Ha, yeah, I thought vampires had red eyes?” She asked while watching out the window. ”Well, I am a special one,” Alex said.

”How was your day?” Alex asked further. ”I went to the doctor and was embarrassed enough to last for the rest of my life,” she said with a sigh. ”Oh, what happened? Are you sick? Are you okay?” Alex asked, his words kind of blurred together because of how fast he said them.

Zoe couldn’t help but laugh. ”Chill out Alex, I’m fine.” She said and he sighed! “You scared me there for a second,” Alex Said. ”Sorry?” She mumbled.

”Okay, if you weren’t sick, what did you actually go there for?” He asked, curiosity masked in his every speech and tone. Zoe could feel her cheek getting hot. ”It was the women’s doctor actually,” she admitted. ThankGod Alex couldn’t see her face.

”Hmm, you mean the OB-GYN?” He asked. “Yeah, how did you know about that?” Zoe asked, feeling surprised. ”Come on Zoe, I’m a very smart guy with a huge brain… Plus I watch tons of medical show.” He said.

Zoe laughed weirdly this time. ”So, was it that bad?” Alex asked after a moment. Zoe thought it over. “I suppose not, I’m probably just being a baby,” she said.

”You are not a baby Zoe. Seriously, I bet it sucks for every girl,” Alex said quietly and politely. There he goes, making her feel better. “Thanks,” she mumbled.

Zoe heard a loud crashing noise over the phone. “Alex, what happened? Are you hurt?” she asked but he chuckled. ”Oh, yeah I’m fine but uhm! You wouldn’t by any chance know how to fix an expensive vase, would you?” He asked.

”Why?” She asked. ”No particular reason.” Alex said casually, ”Alex did you break something?” she asked, smiling.

Zoe heard him commence laughing really hard which made her laugh too. The sound of his laughter was hilarious, after a while he sighed. ”Are you going to be up much longer?” Alex asked.

Zoe knew she wasn’t tired, which kind of sucked.

”Probably,” she said.

”Good, see you in a bit.” Alex said.

”Wait Alex, why?” she asked but he had already hung up. Her phone vibrated in her hand. It was her dad. She picked it up and he kept saying he wasn’t coming home today but tomorrow! Sounds great.

Was Alex coming over? Zoe looked down at her pyjamas and frowned. Alex didn’t need to see her in them more than once, so she ran upstairs to change to a more comfortable one. Luckily, her hair looked great.

She sat down in the parlor wondering if she had heard Alex correctly about him coming over when a knock came from the door which made her jump to her feet, she glanced through the window to see Alex’s car parked outside.

She opened the door and Alex was smiling. He was wearing black as always, so she let him come inside before she closed the door.

“What are you doing here?” She asked. He looked at her clothes before meeting her eyes with a small smile, “Awn, you changed? I loved those pyjamas you were wearing on Halloween!” Alex said, chuckling. Zoe ignored his little remark.

”You could have given me a clue that you were coming over!” she said. He shrugged. ”Yeah, I thought if I was here early I would meet you in your pyjamas. Oh well,“he said and grinned. ”So, what do you want to do?” she asked hesitantly.

She wasn’t really okay with Alex being here with her alone, he is dating Bella and Zoe was with Luke. It’s just kind of weird.

”Well, I actually wanted to show you something, uhm, could we go to your bedroom?” Alex asked out of the blue. Zoe raised an eyebrow in astonishment, she wondered if she heard him well. ”It doesn’t have to be your room! Just a room that had access to the roof,” Alex said more clearly.

”Do you want to go on the roof?” she asked and Alex nodded. ”Uhm, my room is the easiest place there! So, yeah.” Zoe muttered as they walked up the stairs with Alex emerging behind her.

Thank God her room was clean. It wasn’t always clean though, Alex peeked at all the posters, pictures, and stickers covering her wall. ”Nice room,” Alex said as Zoe opened her window so Alex could see.

He stuck his head outside then muttered! “Perfect.” Zoe had gone up the roof when she was little growing up. It was quite easy to go up, swing your legs over the side! Grab one of the shingles and slide across. She went up showing Alex.

The winter had been pretty mild so far, so there wasn’t any snow on the roof leaving it dry. It was still kind of chilly though.

They sat down together staring at the night sky. It always seemed easier to see the stars when it was cold, “What was it you wanted to show me?” She asked.

”Zoe?”Alex called.

“Yeah,” she replied.

”Would you like to jump the moon with me?” Alex asked, smiling a little. ”Sure, Alex?” she said , going back to watch the sky. She doesn’t know how long they sat there, a couple of hours perhaps! Though they didn’t talk much.

Just enjoying the peacefulness of the night, after a while, he spoke.

“Are you cheered up?” he asked as Zoe stared into Alex’s eyes.

”Yes, thank you Alex! Really.” she said, slipping her hands in his. If he was surprised by her action, he didn’t say so.

Instead, Alex just squeezed her hands tighter into his.

As much trouble as Zoe has had for being his friend! She was glad Alex was in her life now, And she never wanted to lose him.
