Chapter 79
Chapter 79
IT has been two excruciating weeks of busied calls and unread text messages. Liam had tried all possible means to reach Diana all to no avail. He had even come to the house to talk to her but she just looked at him through the peep hole with chilling blue eyes.
Liam felt so devastated everywhere. He was sick of hotel foods. He missed Diana's sumptuous cooking. He missed her laughter. The way her eyes would light up whenever he made one of he cracked one of his bad jokes. She made him a better person in many ways than one. Most especially, he missed the otherworldly connection he felt whenever they had sex.
True to her word, Anita had tried to set him up with her friends. He even had a date scheduled with one of her friends this afternoon by 1pm. They were meeting up at the emporium restaurant where Anita had literally coerced him to book a reservation last week for this purpose. He hadn't spoken to his supposed date, mostly because he hadn't had any urge whatsoever to.
Lying on his bed, Liam brought out the dress pants and shirt, Anita had given him as a gift; her breakup gift she called it grinning from ear to ear as he tore the wrappings open. The shirt was an original, soft blue with a tint of white at the wrists while the pants was a soft beige colour.
Liam checked his watch. He checked his watch. It was already 12:40pm. How had the time flown so fast?
At that moment, a call came. Liam picked it up. It was Anita.
"Good afternoon Liam. What's up? I hope you're ready for your thrilling date this afternoon?" Anita questioned. Liam could hear a teasing note in her voice.
"Hey Anita. I'm getting ready to go. Infact I'm about to go have my bath now and -" Anita interrupted him "Are you for real Liam? You're supposed to make a great first impression. How is she meant to fall in love with you and give you 3.5 babies??" Anita screamed making Liam to shift the phone from his ear.
"Tranquilo Anita...I'm going to have a quick shower now and go to the restaurant. I won't waste time again" Liam joked and chuckled to himself when he hears Anita muttering to herself. She was probably calming herself down. It's like she's taking his non-existent love life to be her main goal in life.
"Bye honey, let me leave you to your beauty rest" Anita disconnected. Liam walked briskly to his bathroom with divisive emotions.
Liam checked his watch. It was now 1pm, so he drove to the restaurant and went to his reserved table. There he saw a tall blonde haired barbie smiling widely at him as he approached the table. Liam smiled back and sat down uncomfortable with the way she eyed him up and down.
"You're Liam right. I'm jessica King. Nice to meet you" she outstretched her manicured hands for a handshake.
"Nice to meet you too" Liam shook her hand. Jessica had a soft grip unlike Diana's. Wait what! He thought relegated that name to the back seat but no, everything she just pops into his head.
Jessica giggled. "So it might seem much, but I'm just gonna say this you're so damn gorgeous and your hair. what product do you use on it? Because I used a tad load of spray on mine but it's definitely not ass gorgeous as yours" Jessica smiled a cross between teasing wnd flirting.
He chuckled warily. He hoped she was teasing because it would really be uncomfortable if she weren't. At that moment, a waiter arrived at their table and after apologising for the delay, requested for their order.
The waiter gave them a menu each and waited quietly for them to make their decision.
"You've got to try the asparagus sauce. I've had it before and I must say it literally melted my brain" jessica looked at him hopefully and winked. The waitress smiled agreeingly.
"OK give me that and a bottle of your best wine" if he was going to survive this date, he needed liquid courage.
"Me too. I want the same" jessica spoke touching his hand lightly. The waiter left with their orders.
"So tell me, what do you think of me? Anita told me you were shy so I didn't expect much from you really".
Well, she was bold. He could at least give her that. He liked bold girls like Diana. At this point he had already accepted that he was not over Diana and probably will never be. "I think you're a beautiful young lady" Liam was not lying. She really was beautiful with her aqua blue eyes. From what he could see, she was also well endowed at least at the front.
After a long streinous 15 minutes which was spent with Liam listening half-heartedly to jessica and praying for her to stop chattering already. Her words were like needles piercing his ear drums.
The waiter arrived with their respective and deliciously smelling dishes and a bottle of cabernet sauvignon wine.
They ate their meals with an unsurprisingly monotonous conversation om Liam's side.
Liam enjoy his meal. At least jessica knows her food he thought. At the end of the date, Liam was tired mentally and physically. He honestly felt pity for his ear drums. To say jessica was a charter box would be am understatement. Liam dropped jessica off, purposefully ignoring her eyes as he felt if he did she was going to invite him in which was an idea he abhorred. He drove to his hotel.
"Anita, the babe talks way too much. She didn't even let me put in some parts of the dialogue which was in my favour because I didn't want to converse with her but at least. Jessica can actually hold a dialogue by herself." Liam laughed while lying down. Anita had called him for an update on how the date went.
"And it was as if she didn't know that I was uninterested, she kept dropping not so subtle sexual hints at me" Liam sighed. "I'm serious. No more setting me up." Liam said seriously. Anita berated him for awhile, telling him how much of a nice person jessica was and that he probably didn't put in much effort to even talk to her. So she was probably filling in any awkward silence. Liam had to give Anita that. She was probably right.
"OK ok, I'll not set you up on a date for like 3 extra weeks" Anita conceded sounding a bit deflated at that.
"I'm sorry you didn't have fun. I really wanted you to enjoy your self. Just take care okay, see you on Monday". Liam bade her farewell and they disconnected.
