Her Redemption

Chapter 80

The sky was a beautiful light blue hue that suggested a fairly good weather for the day. The roads were filled with people, some with briefcases and some without. They were all walking briskly to their destination, the typical Monday morning rush was definitely at it's pick, Liam observed from the tinted windows of his blue camaro. He was on his way to work.

Liam had a nightmare this morning. He called it a nightmare because he definitely didn't want it to happen in real life. In his dream, Diana had gotten married to one posh looking guy dressed like a damn lord or something. He had woken up in a fix, gasping for air like he couldn't breath, it had taking him over 30 minutes to calm down.

Afterwards, he had tried calling Diana who he found out had recently blocked him. Putting her out of his mind, he had tried refocusing all his energy on work.

He waltzed to his office with a somewhat heavy heart. The dream still weighed heavily on his mind. He felt like telling someone which he did to Anita at noon. She proceeded to tell him her unfiltered opinions, Anita had always been like that. She told him that a higher power was obviously trying to tell him that he should move on from his ex already as it was obviously she had no qualms about forgetting him. She was probably dating again, Anita commented nodding like she was a therapist or something.

At the end of the dialogue, Liam had returned to his office brokenhearted all over again. He had wallowed in his misery some more before snapping out of the unwanted emotion. He was tired of pinning over someone who has ruthlessly cut him off from her life.

By 6 pm, Liam was done with work. So he started researching on self-contain houses to rent. He showed Anita who hugged him and told him she was happy he was finally moving forward. By 7 pm, he had already compiled all his options of apartments and called their landlords to schedule a visit. He had a sum total of 5 places to rent.

Today, Liam had an important meeting with the board of directors in his company. Liam had successfully landed a 10 million thousand dollar contract so the board had scheduled a meeting with him this afternoon.

Liam had come to work earlier than normal today. He had a good feeling about the board meeting and for the first time in a while, he hadn't dreamt about Diana, his ex. He was even starting to think of her as that, a term which Anita encouraged profusely.

Liam attended the meeting by 1pm. The board had commended him for landing such a contract. Finally, they had congratulated him before giving him a promotion letter after telling him he was now the manager of his company. His boss hugged him and treated him to lunch.

"Wow, oh my god! I can't believe it. Congratulations honey, you deserve this" Anita almost screamed. She was excited when the news gad spread like wildfire. So she had rushed immediately to speak to Liam.

"You know what. Y this deserves a gift. I wanted to drink this but you deserve it more" She pulled out a pink bottle from the nylon bag she was holding. she was working overtime today. Anita had opted to give Liam his favourite champagne as a Congratulatory gift.

"Thanks Anita." Liam collected the drink. "Now I just remembered that I haven't thanked you for being my friend and trying to help me with my bullshit life" Liam finished.

"It's all good Liam. Surprisingly, I like you and I hate to see your eyes clouding with pain caused by some bitch" Anita cursed. She honestly felt sorry for Liam. You don't tell your heart who to love. She was happy though. The pain in his eyes was receeding now.

"About your apartment. I want to escorted you to go look at your options, I even know a couple of apartments onlease available, I'd schedule an appointment on Sunday afternoon. We can look at them after looking at the ones you already found. Just text me your price range Mr. General manager. "Anita teased him punching his arm lightly.

Liam drove to his hotel. He had ordered a buffet of food and already started eating the main course. When he was done, he felt too full so he decided to use the hotel's gym.

Liam worked out in the gym for about an hour before he couldn't take the leer from females anymore. So he decided to take a short stroll, since it was already 6pm.

The night breeze was cool against liam's face as he trekked along the calm street. The street was empty. Liam glanced up at his ex's picture showing on the bill board. Diana looked beautiful as always.

After like 30 minutes, he was tired so he trekked back to his room with a very light heart.

On Saturday, Liam and Anita went to 5 different apartments. Liam liked none of them. They were either too shabby or expensive. They were on their way to the apartment Anita found. She said it was in a homely neighbourhood not too far from his work place so Liam's spirit was lifted as they drove.

The best aspect of his life right now was his work. With Anita's help, he had moved to his new office. He even has a secretary now. Her name is becca. She is a tall, middle aged brunette with 2 kids. He liked her. She reminded him of a mother hen covering her chicks. He already enjoys her as his secretary. She's very efficient and usually finish her job way before the due time.

Arriving at the apartment, Liam looked at his surroundings, already loving it's beautiful and serene atmosphere. He loved the outside already.

30 minutes later, they were already signing the lease. As they shook hands with the realtor, Liam smiled. He finally felt like his life was moving in the right direction. The interior of the house was perfect with one room, a kitchen and a gleaming white bathroom. He had wasted no time to wink excitedly at Anita who gave him an excited shove. She loved it too.

They had dinner at a small diner close by. Afterwards, Liam dropped Anita off.
