Chapter 78
Chapter 78
Liam huddled in his office again. Almost snarling at anyone who dared to knock. By the end if the day any quick-witted person could tell that something was wrong.
He went through the motions of his work Judicously but a bit monotonous. A job he enjoyed, now seemed annoying and drab. When he was done with his day quota, he drove himself home, gently though, He had a heartbreak but he wasn't suicidal yet.
Liam booked a room in a nice looking hotel. He didn't know if he had a home hust yet as duana just kicked him out. He would give her time to cool off and go back later. Entering his room, he kicked off his italian loafers and went straight to the more than top notch looking wine cabinet. It was safe to say the wine cabinet had every wine from the 20th century. It was the best looking collection he gad seen served in a hotel. Kings hotel definitely had an up to par service. He drank straight from the bottle, savouring the rich taste of the thousand dollar bottle he picked out. He had always had a good eye for wines. Normally he would slowly sip this fine bottle but tonight he had just one goal to drink till he forgot the name diana! Oops he failed. Anyways, the night was still young. He tried to distract himself with some soap opera showing on TV, maybe their drama can make me forget mine. He thought sarcastically.
Getting bored of the show which started reminding him the more of Diana. Diana! A topic he had unsuccessfully tried his best to not think about. At the thought of her name. He broke down. A few tears slipping out. He missed her so much. He had always thought the kind of love he and Diana shared was a thing of the fairytales.
He loves Diana so much that he couldn't help but smile at the thought of her name. Honestly, he thought she overreacted a little. For God's sake, she didn't even give him a chance to explain himself. Infact, he had never seen her act so mad and rigid with him. He shivered a little at the fire he had seen in her eyes. Well he was going to drink till he fell asleep.
The next morning, Liam woke up and looked longingly at the empty space beside him. Overwhelmed with despair, he trudged on to the bathroom. Afterwards, he had a quick, unfulfilled shower. Diana had always preferred showers. Now he was inputing her bathing preference in his life. Gosh! He was pathetic.
Liam dropped his keys at the receptionist table and drove to work. On the way, he stopped by his favourite bread and breakfast diner and had enough food to douse down the alcohol still in his system. He popped sone Tylenol in his mouth for the headache he could now feel and drove straight to work.
On arriving, he threw out a few lack luster greetings to the people he met on the way to the office. He walked briskly to his office hoping to avoid any friendly face. He was not in the mood for any type of chat this morning. His boss saw him. He walked to him and greeted him. Happy he did as his boos reminded him of the meeting they had scheduled in the afternoon.
Work was a boring affair. Liam busied himself. He didn't want to give any space for distractions. This he failed much to his chargrin. He would find his thoughts switching to a certain brunette.
At lunch, he proceeded to his boss' office where they had a meeting on the kind of contracts he should bring in. On his way down from his boss' office, he met his co-worker, Anita. She looked in a hurry but stopped when she saw Liam. Anita could see the sadness in her friend's eyes and she didn't like it one bit. She dragged him to the Cafeteria and ordered some food for both of them.
"Liam, what's been going on? There have been all manner of rumours as to your moodiness but I've been wanting to hear from you first. What's wrong?" Anita was undoubtedly concerned.
"It's nothing Anita, just stress" Liam waved her questions of choosing to ignore the statement about rumors going around about him.
"It's not nothing...you kinda remind me of-" Anita's eyes widened with realization. "You remind me of myself last year when I suffered from heartbreak. Is that what happened honey? Is there trouble on lovedise" Anita joked. Their food arrived so they started eating.
At the twitch in Liam's eyes, Anita gasped "I'm so sorry honey, it happens to the best of us" Anita consoled Liam lightly patting his left arm. "What happened exactly?"
"I hid something from her and she found out" Liam was sulking now.
"Oh, that's bad. Have you tried explaining yourself?" Anita questioned. She knew it was probably over between the two. Girls detested it when their partners lied. It was worse than cheating in her own book. "I've done everything but she refuses to even give me a listening ear." Liam held back the urge to whine.
"Oh dear" Anita thought pensive lying. "I'm sorry to say Liam cause I can see on your eyes that you still love her. You should try to move on. It's not the end of the world" Anita attacked her meal either gusto now. Liam just shook his head and focused on eating his meal. He couldn't even imagine a life without her. How was he to move on! He thought angrily.
"You know what. I'll help you" Anita smiled lightly patting his arm again. They both finished the rest of their meal in a fairly comfortable silence.
Liam went to his temporary home. He was so exhausted. He worked overtime today, sorting out up to a thousand files. Liam dully greeted the receptionist, took his room key and went upstairs after ordering barbecue to be brought upstairs for him. He kinda liked that he was so exhausted. He hadn't even thought of Diana today. Oh dang it! He just did. This was becoming monotonously. He should just work on ways to get her back because she obviously wasn't leaving his head no matter how hard he tried.
A certain knock on his door snapped him out of his distressed thoughts. He opened his door, allowed the waiter to keep his meal on the table before tipping her. He closed the door behind her. For some reason, his mind switched to the conversation he had with Anita today do he tried admiring the waiter as she left. She was pretty, hot even but he unsurprisingly didn't feel a speck of attraction to her. Chuckling at how pathetic he was that he couldn't even find a beautiful girl attractive, he trudged to the bathroom.
Liam stepped out few minutes later. He had let himself indulge in a hot bath. He put on his brief, got some wine and sat down to enjoy his meal, his mind drifting to the fact that Diana loved to eat barbecue and red wine.
