Her Redemption

Chapter 58

Chapter 58

Diana sat cross legged sipping from her water bottle and scrolling through her phone just to pass time as she waited for Sam.

She didn't even spare Liam a glance. She was tired of him and his lies too.

Her stomach growled and she hissed. She wasn't in any mood to eat. She wanted Liam out of her house and sight before she tasted food.

The sound she has been waiting for finally came as Sam and Kenneth pulled up in their car in the driveway. Her sigh of relief wasn't the only one heard as she wasn't the only one in the room. "Hi Sam, Hi Ken. It's been a while." Liam waved politely and they responded warmly to his greeting.

"So, what's happening here?". Sam used an authoritative voice because she knew how stubborn Diana could be.

"I'll go first". Liam announced with his right hand raised. "I lied. I admit it but Diana wants to break up with me...".

"I have already broken up with him. I just want him to leave my house." Diana's nonchalance was shown in her voice.

"Please Sam, can you help me beg her? It's so unfortunate...". Liam pleaded.

"What exactly did you lie about?". Sam queried Liam suspiciously. Liam stared blankly at Sam for a second before answering her question.

"I was an ex-convict. I... I didn't tell her. She found out..." Liam was dejected.

"Can you see the liar I've been living with?". Diana raved.

"Don't take it that way. Just forgive him. You can end the relationship but he still needs a house". Sam reasoned but Diana had heard enough pleas. "There are various houses scattered around town or if you're so concerned about him, take him home with you". Diana snapped

"Diana, we understand that you're hurt and angry but you're taking it out the wrong way. Please, calm down". Kenneth came in.

"Don't fucking tell me to calm down!". Diana yelled, then turning to Liam, sh ordered

"Get up, get your things and leave my house, this minute!".

Liam looked helplessly at Sam and Kenneth. They had tried to help but Diana was too hot-headed for them to make her see reasons.

"You're making a mistake, Diana. Don't do things that you will regret." Kenneth tried to intervene but Diana's up-raised hand stopped him.

"Let her be. She won't listen to a word from you anymore. It might make you feel insulted." Sam warned Kenneth and he flashed her a saintly smile.

Liam walked into his room and began to throw his clothes into his boxes. His belongings weren't much, so it was easy for him to pack.

Sam and Kenneth helped him roll the boxes to the door in total silence while Diana, hands on waist watched them leave like mother hen.

On getting to the gate, Liam stopped and turned to Diana with teary eyes.

"It was really a good time with you. I didn't expect it to end like this. I really wanted to make you my wife..."

"I can't be the wife of a liar". She spat in defiance.

"I wish things worked out. I really love you but you judged me wrong. All thanks to you, you made me feel alive for the first time." He admitted and started walking away. "Good riddance to bad rubbish". Diana said with a huge scowl on her face and Liam's heart slashed in two.

Kenneth gave him a knowing pat on his shoulder as tears fell from his eyes. Liam shook his head and continued walking.

"Times like this come. You have to take heart." Kenneth consoled.

"Thanks man". Liam appreciated it.

"Here you go. Room 59". The receptionist drawled seductively which nauseated Liam, making him rush out of the reception.

He took the stairs in twos, dragging his luggage along with his thoughts faraway.

He couldn't place why despite all the love that Diana had shown him, she couldn't forgive him.

Was it all fake for her?

He couldn't blame her though, he had broken her heart once and whilst she was still trying to trust him again, she found out he'd been lying to her.

He sighed deeply as he got to his room. On getting into it, he sat down on the bed and pulled out his socks.

As he wanted to unknot his tie, a wave of nostalgia hit him and throwing his face into the pillow, he wailed like a bereaved mother.

After wailing, he felt drained and lost. He covered himself to the neck with the duvet and journeyed into the cozy hands of mother nature.

"Daina? I'm really sorry. Please forgive me." He sobbed and Diana smiled at him.

"I forgive you, you're human and so mistakes are inevitable, okay?". She shrugged lightly after saying her words.

"Can I get a hug?". Liam smiled sheepishly.

Diana chuckled and drew him into a hug. Liam smiled as his chest met with her bosom.

"I love you. I won't keep anything from you ever again. At least, I have learnt my lesson". He promised in a brittle voice.

Diana lifted her head up and mouthed an "I love you". Liam kissed her forehead and tightened his hands around her...

"Urghhh... it was only a dream". He grumbled.

The caller had stopped calling when Liam reached out for his phone. He unlocked it and went to his call log.

The caller ID read "Dad". He smiled.

He came down from his bed and walked into the toilet to urinate.

Getting back into the room, his father was calling again and he excitedly grabbed his phone.

"Hello dad?" He smiled.

"Hi son. How are you? You barely call and so I had to do the calling". His father replied, making Liam chuckle. "It's a case of the mountain coming to Muhammed, right? Thanks for calling tho".

"Are you about to hang up?" His father seemed surprised.

"No, I'm not. Why?". Liam wondered what his dad was up to

"That's good because, I don't know but you said thanks for calling". His father replied. "Ohhh that, I was just expressing my gratitude." Liam explained with a dead voice.

"Are you okay, son?" His father asked with a voice muddled with care. Liam began to sniff.

"What's wrong?" His father's worried tone made it even hard for him to cry.
