Chapter 35
“Okay, ask our men to stay hidden but be prepared to take them down if they possess any threat.” I order him, as with the previous encounter with the hunters we have to be prepared for everything.
With a slight bow of his head, he quickly leaves. Turning around, I find Carlos glaring at Theo with unfiltered hate but instantly his face pales when Regina taps her finger between his eyebrows whereas a silent warning is visible in her voice.
I control the urge to laugh as he's giving dirty look to a beast who possesses power to tear him into pieces, but Regina’s cold glare made him piss in his pants. Probably understanding, out of everyone, she is the one from he should actually fear.
“You don’t want me to pluck your eyes out, right?” She asks slightly tilting her head to the side, “Then I suggest keep your eyes to yourself, because if next time I find you giving nasty look to anyone then I will choke your throat with your own eyeballs.”
Lifting my eyes, I meet Theo’s even though his face looks serious with no hint of any emotions but I can notice a fleck of amusement in his eyes.
“Theo,” Regina calls him as she walks outside the room before silently asking me to follow her.
“Gary informed me that a car has just stopped outside the building.” She speaks as she continues to walk. "I think hunters have brought the kids."
I can't help but look at her in slight surprise. Gary is one of our loyal guards and he has informed her instead of me is something surprising.
“What?” Her lips twist into a teasing smirk, “Don’t look so shocked, Atlas King. You are not the one who runs the show anymore. As now I am the one with the power, sweetheart.”
I can’t even argue with that as she has all the power over me.
Instead of replying, I give her lips a quick kiss as we step outside the building.
Slipping my arm protectively around her waist, I pull her tightly to my side as I notice hunters sitting inside the car.
“Piero,” Regina looks at her uncle’s man, “Go and check if they have the kids inside the van, and don’t hesitate to put a bullet inside them if you need.”
“Yes, Miss. Michaels.” Nodding his head, he steps towards the car along with three more men.
“I thought it is better if they check the car, as we don’t know what they might be hiding which can harm our people,” she whispers as she keeps her eyes fixed on the car. “They are humans so hunters weapons might not be as deadly as it will be for them.”
My heart bursts with love the way she has accepted me and my kind. There was no hesitancy behind her words when she addressed my people as ours. Although, her words might be quiet I know not only me but everyone of us have heard her clearly, as I can sense a feeling of respect and pride, to have her as their Queen, coming off from them.
“Step outside the van.” Piero orders them in a tone which alerts us, I watch Gary and my men closing their circle around the van.
“Stay here.” I glance at Regina and discreetly sign Theo to hold her back if she tries to follow me as I go towards the van.
My beast demands to come out and destory everything when I look inside the van. There are two boys boxed inside a cage like some animal while their hands and feet are tied with chains.
“Release them now.” I snarl angrily as my canines elongates piercing my lower lip while fury swirls inside me noticing the condition in which those kids are kept.
Suddenly, the area echoes with six gun shots as the lifeless bodies of six hunters, who have brought these kids here, falls on the ground.
Moving my gaze away from the bodies I look, in the direction of the sound from where the gunshots have came, to find Regina lowering the gun while having strange murderous look on her face. But what surprise me is the golden ring flickering in her eyes.
