Her King

Chapter 30

Regina’s POV

The car parks in front of a modern-looking five-story building, which surprises me as I was expecting the meeting to be somewhere dark and abandoned sort of place.

Aren’t scary night creatures supposed to meet somewhere creepy and haunted?

When I shared my thoughts with Atlas he started laughing saying that I am cute.

However, all the humor leaves his body when he steps outside the car, and just in front of my eyes, he becomes Atlas King whom everyone fears.

His posture is rigid, while his face holds no trace of emotions, everything about him demands attention and respect. And it makes him even hotter than he already is.

The slight tilt of his lips is a giveaway that he has caught me checking him out, but if I would be embarrassed in admiring who is mine then I wouldn’t be Regina Michaels.

Stepping outside the car, I hold his extended hand and still not breaking the eye contact with him.

Taking a step closer to him, I get a whiff of his scent, and raising my head I plant my lips to his in a small kiss. Smiling at him, I turn my head towards the direction of another car that has parked just beside ours.

Felix and Theo walk outside the car and joins us when Gordon walks outside the building wearing a concerned expression when his eyes land on me.

“Your Majesty.” He bows his head looking at Atlas then he turns to face me, and bows again.

“The elders have arrived, they are waiting for you,” he informs while I read a text for which I was waiting for.

“Then let’s go inside, we shouldn’t keep them waiting.” Felix smiles which look anything but friendly and for the first time I get a glimpse of the other side of him that shows beneath the relax exterior there is a beast who shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Atlas slips his hand in mine as we walk inside while Felix and Theo are walking closely beside me in a protective manner.

Atlas’s hand tightens as we reach the room while the golden ring flashes in his eyes showing that he has given some of the control to King. When I turn to look at Felix and Theo even they have called their beasts forward ready to give them full control if anything goes wrong.

Silence falls over the room when we enter the room. Some of the people, whom I assume are vampires, stand from their seats in respect and bows their head while others stay in their seats looking at us with hatred.

It is not rocket science to figures who are the hunters inside this room. However, one of them stands and slightly nods his head with a polite smile on his face. Atlas faces him returns his nod as we take our seats.

Atlas is on my right side while Felix and Theo are standing just behind my seat. My eyebrows fractionally raise in surprise when my eyes land on Marvin Carlos who is throwing daggers in my direction. He is sitting beside an older and uglier version of him who is probably his father even he is looking at me with nothing but contempt.

A low snarl comes from Atlas when he looks at Marvin, probably recognizing who he is. Then his eyes shift to his father, realizing all that must have been his plan to weaken him, by trying to marry his son with me.

I don’t know how they figured out who I am, but it doesn’t matter as I never intended to hide this from anyone. I am Atlas’s and I am proud to be called his.

Ignoring them, I turn to look at Altas as he forcefully looks away from them as he speaks.

“Good evening everyone, before we start the meeting. I would like to pay my condolences to Mr. Steele.” He turns to look at the hunter who has earlier greeted him and has no hatred in his eyes, “Your father was a great man and one of the honest people that I have ever met and his absence will always be felt. Please accept heartfelt condolence from my family.”

“Thank you.” Mr. Steele gives a small smile. “He always spoke highly of you. Even though the circumstances are not ideal, but I am glad to meet you.”

Half an hour into the meeting, I already feel like killing these half-brained people who consider them all high and mighty.

Earlier, I have thought elders must be people who might be a few years away from saying goodbye to the world. However, after coming here I have found members of the powerful hunter families are called elders.

Powerful, but brainless.

I glance at Mr.Steele, whose name I have found is Ian, as he rolls his eyes at the other elders which makes me realize that he is not like other hunters. He is the youngest among the elders who looks like he must be in his twenties and he seems a more sensible one.

Until now, I am quietly observing what is going on, but my patience is running thin and from the way Atlas is clenching his hands I guess I am not the only one.

However, when one of them suggested killing those poor kids I can't hold back anger anymore while this sudden urge of protectiveness rolls over me as my mind pictures two fifteen years old boys being tortured.

"Enough!" I meet everyone's eye with a glare, "Enough of your nonsense. Who in the right mind can think about killing innocent kids?"

"Nobody has allowed you to speak." One of the elders looks at me with disdain, "I am surprised why is a vampire's human pet present in this meeting in the first place."

As soon as these words leave his mouth a terrifying snarl escapes from Atlas's lips. The next moment that man is pinned to the wall as Atlas holds him by his neck as King overtakes completely.
