Chapter 24
Regina’s POV
Surprisingly, the dinner went better than I have imagined. But what’s actually surprising is that no one grilled Atlas, as I have seen them doing whenever any of my cousin sisters brought their boyfriends to meet the family. They seemed pretty okay with him being here.
Maybe they have realized my man is not someone who is going to be scared of them.
“Madeline, have you met your new uncle?” Winter, my eldest cousin sister, asks her four years daughter as she points at Atlas, “He is Uncle Atlas.”
Uncle Atlas?
Well, if you leave it to the females of my family they will get me and Atlas married right this once because he has charmed all of them with his smile. I am sure my aunts and some of my cousins must have started to plan our baby’s name the moment I have introduced Atlas to them.
Moving away from her mother, Madeline comes and stands in front of Atlas as she keeps on studying him. Atlas stops talking with my uncle and turns his attention to Madeline.
“Hello, sweetheart.” Atlas extends his hand towards Madeline while softly smiling at her.
“I like him, mommy.” She smiles as she places her hand in Atlas’s huge hand, “He called me sweetheart,” she says which makes every one of us laugh.
“Everyone likes him, Maddy.” Winter nudges me with her elbow, “However, there is someone who likes him a little too much, because they haven’t stopped staring at him.” She silently adds while winking at me, as my cheeks start to heat up.
Atlas gives me a teasing smirk which adds more to my embarrassment of being caught.
It is not my fault that my eyes keep traveling back to him when he is around.
“Sorry, I can’t help it, he is just damn too attractive,” I shrug, well, when I have already embarrassed myself then there is no denying, “And I love him.”
“Love him, huh?” Dylan wiggles his eyebrows at me, “What about the time when you declared you will never fall in love and stay single forever?” My cousin reminded me of the time when my aunts were playing matchmaker for me.
“In my defense, I haven’t met him back then,” I answer him then I look at Atlas, “Blame him for taking hundreds of years to find me.” I narrow my eyes at Atlas, playfully, as he shakes his head with a chuckle.
Atlas got a call from someone and he soon left after dinner, while Nonna asked me to stay here tonight. Even though I don’t want to stay, still I agreed.
It is not just Atlas, but even I feel restless when I am away from him. It is really amusing that my body knows when he needs me, as being separated from him for a longer period of time I start feeling agitated and I only feel relaxed when he takes my vein.
I have even noticed when he is trying to suppress his thirst, my mark starts to itch.
“Such a beautiful tattoo.” Crystal, Dylan’s girlfriend, raises her hand to touch my mark.
“Don’t touch.” Instantly, I grab her wrist even before she can touch my mark, as I glare at her scaring the hell out of her.
“Relax, what has gotten into you.” Dylan glares at me as he wraps his arm around her shoulder, “She was not hurting you or anything. Why are you being a bitch?”
This is Atlas’s mark on me, even the thought of somebody else touching it who is not him is enough to infuriate me.
“She should have asked before trying to touch it.” I leave her hand while my glare doesn’t soften.
“It is just a tattoo, it is not a big deal.” He huffs in annoyance.
“This is not just a tattoo.” My voice sounds cold and impassive, “Touch it and then you will know if it is a big deal or not.” Warning clear in my tone.
“I am sorry, Gina.” He apologizes when he realizes how angry I am.
After a moment or two, I give him a curt nod.
“I am going for a walk,” I inform everyone because I just need to cool off my anger, “I will be outside.” And without waiting for anyone to reply, I make my way towards the back garden.
However, I didn’t miss the sound of the loud smack and Dylan’s yelp, followed by angry murmurs of my family as soon as I step outside the living room.
I frown when the back garden is covered in complete darkness as not a single light is turned on. This is something completely unusual because lights are always on around the house because of security reasons and even I don’t find any security in the back.
However, before I can alert anyone suddenly all lights turn on. But my eyes widen in shock when I notice the conference table in the middle of the garden and Atlas is sitting there alone.
He lifts his eyes to mine and suddenly the warmth encases me just like the first time I have met him. Again I feel myself drowning into these hypnotic violet eyes.
My feet take me towards him as our eyes remain locked with each other. However, at the last moment, when I near the table I take his opposite seat just like the first time we have met in that conference room.
His lips tilt in a knowing smile as we continue to stare at each other.
“So, what is this all about?” I ask crossing my arms over the table.
“I wanted you to tell exactly what I have felt when you have walked into my life.” He gazes into my eyes intensely speeding up my heart.
“Atlas, what is going on?” My smile turns into a nervous one.
“The moment my eyes landed on you, was the best moment of my existence as my search for ages has come to an end. My heart that barely beat started beating for you, your smile melted away the years of coldness which surrounded my heart filling it with nothing but warmth.” Standing up, he walks towards me, “I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry because my years of suffering have come to an end, because I have finally found my soul.” He stops in front of me and offers me his hand.
“Your touch puts rest to the chaos inside me,” he says when I place my hand in his as he pulls me to my feet, “While I find my solace in your arms.”
I swallow the thick lump of emotion as tears threaten to stream down from my eyes.
“I don’t need anything when I have you with me.” My eyes close causing tears to drop when his lips touch my forehead, “I can happily give up my eternity in exchange for a single moment with you. Because I live more than a thousand lifetimes in each moment with you.”
My tears refuse to stop when he sits on his knee while holding my gaze with his captivating eyes.
“Regina Michaels, will you give me the honor to call you my wife?” Slipping his hand in his pocket, he takes out a ring, “Will you accept me, Atlas King, in your life? Will you marry me?”
I plant my lips on his lips as I kiss him with every ounce of love I have in my heart, while my tears flow freely from my eyes.
My heart dances happily inside my chest and when I place my palm over his chest even his heart is dancing on the same rhythm of love which pulsing through our veins.
“Yes.” Breaking the kiss, I whisper against his lips, “I will marry you.”
He slips the ring into my finger and captures my lips in a kiss that is a silent promise to love me forever. Resting my forehead against his, I see my future in my favorite pair of eyes.
“I accept you and your beast, King, as mine,” I whisper only for his ears.
“Thank you for accepting us, My Queen.” The slight change in his voice indicates his beast as making an appearance. “I vow over my honor, that I will love and protect you till the end of my existence.”
I get startled when I hear loud cheers coming from around us, glancing around I find my family surrounding us sharing this moment of happiness with us. But my lips slightly tug downwards when my eyes don’t find Felix and Theo.
However, a loud squeal leaves my mouth when suddenly I am swept off my feet and twirl around.
“Missed me?” Felix arches an eyebrow at me, giving me a lop-sided grin as soon as he puts me down.
Overjoyed to find him here, I throw my arms around his neck pulling him in a tight hug.
“Welcome to the family, sister.” His lips forms a heartfelt smile when I release him.
“Thank you.” I cup his face smiling warmly at him.
“Theo.” I smile at the other brother who is silently standing at the side. His presence means a lot to me because I know he doesn’t feel comfortable around people, and even then just for us, he is here.
When he comes forward, I surprise him when I hug him as well. His body stiffens completely, but after a moment he places his hand on my back his way of hugging me.
Atlas winds his arm around my waist as the brother shares a silent conversation. From their faces it can be seen they are happy for their brother, just like my family is beaming with joy.
My eyes shift back to my family, then to the King Brothers... my new family as my heart feels with nothing but gratitude to have both of my families with me.
