Chapter 25
Regina’s POV
I still can’t believe apart from me everyone knew what was happening, my own family helped Atlas and kept all this secret from me.
Even Uncle Marco was aware that Atlas is going to propose to me. Another thing which earlier I found strange is that Uncle has no issue with any of this. However, later Nonna told me, Atlas first came to both of them and asked for their blessings. His eyes held only sincerity and determination, and there was no doubt that he doesn’t love me so they happily gave their blessings to him. Atlas even had some private conversation with uncle and after which uncle has warmed up to him.
My eyes travel to the ring proudly resting on my finger, while a small smile forms on my lips.
The ring is absolutely beautiful, the red ruby stone is surrounded by small delicate diamonds and also the entire band is covered with diamonds. This is something I could not have chosen for myself, but the moment I wore it I knew there is nothing else that I would have wanted for myself other than this.
“Madam, we have arrived.” My driver announces, bringing my attention to my surrounding as he parks the car in front of a tall glass building.
“Thank you.” I nod my head when he opens the door for me.
Not a moment later, Raymond’s join me as he parks his car beside mine.
“His secretary just messaged me. Carlos wants to meet you in private.” Raymond frowns, “You are not going to meet him.”
“I don’t like this person, Regina.” Raymond shakes his head, still frowning, “The more I know about him, the more off he seems.”
“I will meet him, there is nothing to worry about, besides you know I can handle myself.” I smile at him reassuringly.
Well, I don’t have to tell him that Atlas’s men are also around and if I know Atlas which I am sure I do, even he is somewhere near. So, instead of me, if there is someone who needs to worry is that Carlos in case if he tries to pull any stunt.
However, I also know I can take care of him quite well without anyone’s help. So, I am not worried about meeting him alone.
“Regina, but-” He starts to protest.
“Now let’s find out what this guy wants.” Waving my hand I cut him off, as I walk inside the building.
Carlos’s secretary leads me to an empty office room, while he asks Raymond to wait in the waiting area. Raymond blatantly ignores him much to his annoyance and follows me to the room, however, he stays outside the door.
The fierce look on his face says, he will break the door in an instant if he finds anything out of the place.
Folding my arms in front of me on the table, I look around the room which looks like any other office. Soon some refreshments are placed in front of me, which I politely decline. Nearly after ten minutes, the door opens and a man probably in his thirties steps inside.
I haven’t met Carlos before so I am not sure if is he is Carlos or not. I take a moment to study his sharp features, which are not giving away anything.
“Hello, Ms.Michaels.” He takes a seat behind the table, “I am Marvin Carlos.” He introduces himself while extending his hand towards me.
I notice his eyes are of two different shades, one is brown and the other one has is blueish-green color.
“Nice to meet you, Mr.Carlos.” I nod my head while shaking his hand, “So, why did you want to see me?” I get straight to the point, not wanting to waste any moment.
I just want to finish this meeting and go back to my man. The quicker I will wind this up, the sooner I will be in Atlas’s arms.
“Straight to the point.” He throws his head back as he chuckles, “Just like your father.” His lips form in a smirk.
“I am sure your father had told you about our alliance, I mean our companies alliance when he was alive.” He leans back in his chair while arching an eyebrow at me.
“I am afraid not.” I shake my head.
Hearing my response his smirk falters a bit which he tries to cover up with a forced smile.
“It is not a problem, we can know each other now.” He smiles, “I guess, this is much better as this will give us a chance to get directly acquainted with each other.”
I am definitely not liking where this conversation is going.
“Mr.Carlos can you please come straight to the point, as you have figured I don’t like beating around the bushes.” I sternly demand.
“You are feisty.” He smiles while his eyes roam around my face and somewhat the way he looks at me rises anger inside me.
“I guess, you didn’t have anything to say other than wasting my time. So, I should get going.” I start to stand up.
“I am sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you,” he quickly says, “Please sit down.”
“Our fathers were deciding to turn our business association into a personal, by uniting our families through marriage.” Leaning forward, he places his hand on mine as my eyes drop to his hand covering mine, “Unfortunately, Richard is no longer between us, but we still want this marriage to happen and our union will also be beneficial for Michaels Manufacturers. My company can support it by helping it getting back to its feet because I have heard it is struggling.”
“Firstly, remove your hand.” I glare at him, which instantly makes him pull his hand back, “Secondly, I am not sure from which source you have heard, but my company is perfectly doing fine and it surely doesn’t need your or anyone’s help in any way.”
“Now coming back to the marriage proposal, my answer is no.” I stare into his eyes, in which anger is swirling, “Even if I was not engaged.” Raising my hand in front of him, I tap my ring. “I would have declined your proposal because I am not interested in turning something special like marriage into a deal.”
“Honestly, if that’s all you wanted to talk about, you could have saved mine and your time by talking me on the call. Instead of, going through the trouble of arranging this meeting.” I give him a forced polite smile, “Now, since there is nothing else to talk about, I should take your leave, Mr.Carlos.”
I am harshly slammed into the wall as soon as I stand up.
“Listen clearly, you bitch.” He pins me to the wall as he gets into my face, “I am not interested in you, it was my father’s demand that I should marry you because he thinks you can be really beneficial for us. So, be a good girl and get ready to marry me, because I am not someone with whom you want to mess with.”
“You have ten seconds to remove your hands before you will realize what happens if someone messes with me.” A cold smile forms on my lips while my hand itches to squeeze his throat to the point where he can barely breathe.
“What are you going to do? Call that bodyguard of yours?” He scoffs nodding his head towards the direction of the door.
“Ten seconds are over.” I click my tongue while tilting my head slightly to the side.
Kneeing him, I push him away from me as my hand goes into my hair to remove my hairpin. Grabbing his hand, I place it on the table as with my other hand I stab my sharp hairpin in his hand.
Screams come from his mouth, which makes me chuckle.
“Not so intimidating, now, huh?” I arch my eyebrow as I grab him by his hair and yank his head back. “Don’t even think about calling someone to help you.” I slowly shake my head, when I notice his hand moving towards the bell beneath the table.
“Because even before you can press that button, I will kill you in a snap.” I snap my fingers in front of his face.
“So be a good boy.” I slap his face harshly, “And never show me your face again, because I won’t be so forgiving next time.” Slamming his head, against the table, I step back and take a few tissues from his table to wipe my hands.
Blood drips from his fingers as he cups his broken nose while looking at me with hate-filled eyes. It takes everything in me not to laugh when I notice my hairpin is still stuck in his other hand which he is cradling against his chest.
“No, I am not going to pay for anything, because I am not going to buy any shit.” I sweetly smile at him when he opens his mouth to probably threaten me with an old ass threat that I will have to pay for this blah blah blah...
“I wish I could have said it was a great pleasure of knowing you, but I don’t lie,” I smirk while picking up my mobile from the table then I head towards the door.
“Just a piece of friendly advice.” Grabbing the handle of the door, I look over my shoulder, “Sleep with your both eyes open.” Opening the door, I walk outside the room with a satisfied smile on my face because it was a good meeting after all.
