Chapter 19
Regina’s POV
I wake up to find my favorite pair of violet eyes watching me, which momentarily startles me.
“I think I can get used to waking up like this.” I give Atlas a lazy smile as I find myself still in his arms.
“This is only how you are going to sleep and wake up every day.” He flashes me a smile while pulling me closer to him.
Freeing my arms, I stretch them above my head, but a laugh escapes my lips when Atlas nuzzles his face in my neck while tightening his hold on me.
Wrapping my arms around his shoulders, I play with his hair as we just lie in the bed.
“It is time to wake up, Atlas.” I ruffle his hair as he groans but complies and he kisses my cheek while standing up.
“You can use this bathroom.” He nods his head at the second door in the room, “I will go and take a shower in the spare one.” He combs his fingers through his hair, in an attempt to settle his hair which makes him look even more handsome.
Like too handsome that I don’t want him to go anywhere and just stay with me.
“On the second thought, I don’t want to wake up.” I smile mischievously, opening my arms, “So, come back to me.”
He chuckles shaking his head at me, but still, he leans down and snakes his arms around me. I screech in surprise when he abruptly picks me up.
“Tempting, but if I accept your invitation, I don’t think we will be only sleeping on that bed.” He smirks at me suggestively.
My eyebrows slowly raise in surprise.
“So, still want to go back to the bed?” He arches an eyebrow, that smirk is still present on his lips.
Before I can say something, my phone blares which makes Atlas curse lowly.
“We can surely think about it.” Winking at him, I go answer my phone which is on the bedside table.
“Yes?” I speak, as I get a call from my office.
Closing my eyes, I listen to my secretary reminding me of my today’s meetings as she used to when I have meetings.
“Thank you, I will be there in four hours.” Inform her, as my first meeting is after lunch, and hang up the call.
Turning around I find Atlas looking at me with a serious expression. I can see in his eyes that he doesn’t want me to leave his house, but that is not possible I can’t put my life to rest because of some threat.
No, that’s not me.
“Relax, Atlas.” Walking to him, I place my head on his chest while locking our hands, “I will be fine, nothing is going to happen to me.”
Lowering his face, he kisses my hair but he doesn’t say anything.
“Raymond, there is some serious shit going on.” I clench my jaws as I study the account statements. “We are being delivered cheap supplies at the price of the original.”
“I have been trying to find them, whoever is behind this, but they are keeping their tracks clean.” Raymond’s annoyed voice reaches my ear through the earpiece. “Somone is fucking with us, and changing the consignments.”
“Have you found out anything about the person who tried to get access to the record room?” I scratch my eyebrow, “Maybe they are the one behind this as well.”
“Umm... Regina,” Raymond says, and a hint of hesitation present in his voice, “The person who broke into the record room, was found dead by the police last night.”
“Fuck!” I slam my fist angrily on the table.
“And of course, we or the police don’t know who killed him,” I state the obvious with the roll of an eye.
“Yes.” He sounds dejected.
“Okay, then let’s just focus on this problem and wait for anything else to pop out in front of us.” I sigh rubbing the back of my neck.
“I am failing, right?” I whisper, “Things are getting uglier, Raymond. Investors are backing out... things are falling apart.”
This company was my Dad’s pride, his dream, and I feel like I am disappointing him. He trusted me with his dream, and somewhere I am letting him down.
“We will get through this, Regina.” He assures, “If we can do this one time, we can do this again. The company was in a difficult situation after Richard died, but you have managed to sail that sinking ship. This problem is nothing in front of that, so don’t lose hope, everything will be alright.”
“Yeah, I hope so.” I swallow, trying to control my emotions because currently, I am feeling lost.
“Cousin.” He calls me with his nickname for me, which brings a smile on my face, “Be careful, I know what happened last night.” His voice is full of concern.
Raymond is my cousin, mom’s cousin brother’s son, Dad saw the potential in Raymond and appointed him as his financial advisor. So when I took over the company he helped me in every way he can to get back the company to its feet.
“I will be, Ray,” I assure him, “And you too, take care.”
However, the truth is I don’t care about the attack, or anything else, as I have other things to worry about. Like saving my father’s dream.
After finishing with my work, when I walk outside the office I find Atlas standing beside his car talking to someone on the phone.
However, the moment I stepped outside the building his eyes lifts to mine, and a small smile forms on his lips.
He disconnects the call and turns to me as I approach him.
“I missed you so much.” He kisses my forehead.
His gesture warms my heart, as whenever he touches me his touch is always filled with so much love.
“I didn’t miss you at all.” I shrug as his expression changes into a frown, “Because you were on my mind every moment of the day, so I didn’t get a chance to miss you.” Biting my lip, I restrain my smile.
He quietly chuckles as he opens the passenger door and placing a hand on my lower back he ushers me inside.
It was cheesy, but if this is the expression which I am going to get from him then I am going to do all the cheesy stuff.
“How was your day?” He asks as he eases the car into the traffic.
“Do you want to know the truth or should I just lie?” Raising my eyebrows, I look at him.
“If you want to waste your breath and time, then I would suggest you should lie. Otherwise, the truth will work for me.” The corner of his mouth curves into half-smile. “Because I will always know when you are lying.”
“It was shitty.” I exhale a deep tiring sigh as I launch into telling him what had happened and I also inform him about my talk with Raymond.
He quietly listened to me, while his brows furrowed together in concentration.
“From what I can understand, someone is trying to bring down the company because cheap supplies will affect the quality of the final products, which will directly affect the company’s reputation in the market.” He speaks after I finish telling him everything, “Have you made any deal with someone which didn’t work out or anything like that?”
“I don’t recall as such thing, but there might be a possibility.” I nod my head, “As I have met a number of people soon after I took the charge.”
“Don’t worry, I am sure you will handle everything.” He holds my hand, “I trust you.” He flashes me a reassuring smile, that melts my heart because somewhere I needed this assurance.
“Atlas, thank you for coming into my life” Raising our hands, I place a small kiss on the back of his hand, “Sometimes, I feel like my Dad has sent you to me because he knows how much I needed you in my life.” Tears prick in my eyes because I truly miss Dad if he was alive I wouldn’t be dealing with all these things. I would just have been his princess.
He was my support and when he died I just felt like someone has snatched my support from me. But when I met Atlas he brought that stability back into my life.
“It is so frustrating!” I groan as tears of frustration roll down from my eyes, “Sometimes I feel like failing, you know?” My voice cracks against my will, as I hate being weak.
I don’t even realize when the car has stopped moving, as he unbuckles my seat belt and effortlessly pulls me into his lap.
Hiding my face in his chest, I silently sob letting out the pent up frustration inside me. His hold tightens around me as he kisses my hair while his chest vibrates with low snarls.
“I want to kill all those people who made you cry.” His tone is murderous, “Your tears... they hurt me.”
“Please, don’t leave me ever,” I whisper, clutching his shirt tightly in my hands, because even thought of being away from him tears my heart.
“I will never leave you.” He lifts my face and kisses my tears, the promise behind his words is so powerful that it makes my heart believe that nothing can separate us.
His eyes speak so much, telling me all those unsaid words which he hasn’t voice yet.
At this moment, I don’t have any doubts in my heart. Because everything in me is telling me that I love him.
