Chapter 17
“Regina!” I call her in horror as she opens the door.
Holding the doorknob, she pauses and turns on her heels then arching eyebrow she blows a kiss in my direction and walks inside.
Felix and I rush inside to stop her from getting hurt because Theo's beast is unstable. Sometimes, he himself gets worried about how his beast is going to react and here she walked into a war zone.
“Well, hello, Mr. Troublemaker.” She smiles at Theo who is even looking at her in shock.
He looks ferocious which can make any bravest person shake them in their boots, while Regina looks completely unfazed by him.
“Go away.” He snarls while clenching his hands in fists attempting to control himself. “Before I decide to end your life.” He threatens her.
A snarl rumbles in my chest by hearing his words, even though I know his threats are empty.
“Oh, okay.” She nods her head, “Then go ahead.” She crosses her arms, looking at him in a bored expression.
“Don’t tempt me, woman.” He sneers. Even he must be questioning her sanity like me.
“Regina, my name is Regina,” She says nonchalantly and starts picking up things that are on the floor.
“Do you think I am not going to hurt?” He narrows his eyes, “Do you think I am joking?” His lip rolling upward showing his sharp canines.
“Pick that up.” She snaps her fingers at the broken chair which is in front of him, “And put it in that corner, otherwise, you will get hurt from its sharp edges.” She points at the corner.
Theo looks at us as if he silently asking is she crazy. However, we are too shocked to even understand what is happening here.
“Hurry up!” She again snaps her fingers, impatiently.
Then we watch the terrifying beast quickly picking up the chair and placing it in the corner. Theo himself looks surprised as he himself can’t believe what he is doing.
“If you wanted to hurt me, you would have already done that. So, don’t waste your breath in empty threats ” She turns to him, as her arms carry books which were thrown on the floor around the broken bookshelf, “So, now to answer your question. No, you will not hurt me.” She shrugs and places the books on the dresser which was not subjected to Theo’s anger.
“You are not afraid of me?” He asks, his voice slightly softens while his blazing eyes have a hint of vulnerability in them.
“Please.” She rolls her eyes, “It will take a lot more than a blood-sucking crazy beast, giving me death threats, to scare me.”
“Don’t insult me like that.” She pretends to look hurt, while Felix chuckles at her.
“Why would I be scared of you, when you are the one who saved me from getting killed?” She smiles at him, “I saw how you tackled him just in time when he was about to shoot me.”
“But I killed that guy mercilessly before your eyes,” He replies as this should be enough to scare her. However, by now he should understand it is nearly impossible to scare her.
“That guy was trying to kill me, so I don’t think I will have any soft corner in my heart for him. It would not have even bothered me if you had sucked him dry.” She raises her eyebrows, “In fact, I would have brought snacks for you to eat while getting high on his blood.” She lightly laughs.
And then something happened that is not less than any miracle, making me and Felix completely freeze on our spot.
A faint smile appears on Theo’s face which makes him look even deadlier as he is still in his beast form while blood trickles down his chin, but still, we know it is a genuine smile.
“Am I dreaming? Or I am actually watching the beast smiling?” Felix looks at me then back at Theo in shock.
Turning around Regina starts cleaning up the room as much as she can and our mouth hangs open when Theo silently starts cleaning the room with her.
She just domesticated a beast!
We can’t manage to get out of one shock when another hits us. Theo makes the bed from one side, following Regina’s steps as she cleans the bed from the other side.
“Good job.” She smiles at Theo who looks at the floor slightly embarrassed.
She sits on the bed and pats the space next to her as she motions Theo to sit. He looks unsure but when she narrows her eyes at him and he sits on the bed but in the far corner.
While I and Felix look at them as silent spectators as both are not even acknowledging our presence.
“Theo, come here.” She nods her head while her tone is so calming and comforting like she is talking to some child, not a beast... like she doesn’t want to scare him.
When Theo doesn’t move from his position keeping his head down, she moves closer to him and sits just next to him.
“I know you are hurt and scared,” she speaks to him in a quiet tone, taking his hand in hers, “But it is okay.”
“You are scared that you might hurt your brothers or me... but we trust you and your beast, you will never harm us even unintentionally. Have trust in your beast, Theo, he will never harm any innocent.” She reassuringly pats his hand with a small smile. “I can feel it in my heart, he can't hurt anyone without any reason.”
“You don’t have to be alone, we all are there for you... we all love you. So don’t push us away.” Holding his face in her hand, she lifts his face so that he can look at her, “I am here, you can talk to me, think of me as your friend, sister, or someone who is always going to listen to you without any judgment.” She smiles.
Theo keeps looking at her like he can’t believe what he is hearing.
“Don’t keep it all inside.” She swallows thickly trying to hold her emotions, “Don’t be so harsh on yourself.” Her voice quietens.
Then she gently wraps her arms around him and hugs him while rubbing his back in soothing circles.
The beast, who never allows anyone to come near him, has not only allowed her to come near him but doesn't even struggle when she hugs him.
“Let it out, Theo.” She whispers, “Let it all out.”
She closes her eyes as tears roll down her cheeks the moment when Theo hugs her back and soon his body shakes with silent sobs.
She keeps whispering words in his ear in a gentle and calming tone, as I watch my strong brother crying like a child in her arms letting out years of pain which he has kept buried inside him.
