Chapter 11
Whenever I think about her, an involuntary smile settles on my face.
I thought my beast would drive me crazy by staying away from her, but surprisingly he is doing really well. At night he is the calmest, so calm as if he does not even exist.
Even though I want her to be with me for every second of the day, but I know practically it is not possible. However, I do call and message her several times, just to check on her. Thankfully, she does not think it is clingy, because I can’t help as I always have slight anxiousness lingering in my heart when she is not around.
By talking to her, this feeling of being anxious lessens a little. It is like a temporary relief, however, it is enough to keep me sane.
Once she had not answered my calls and messages for two hours, and my beast and I were ready to tear everything apart thinking that something has happened to her.
But it turns out that she had put her phone on silent and forgot where she has kept.
It is not our fault that we are over-protective of her. Everything which concerns her is very important to us, especially when it comes to her protection.
She has not completed the bond with us, this makes things a little difficult for us. Because we can’t sense her. Once the bond is completed then we will be connected to her in each and every sense.
The completion of the bond is not something physical, it is binding of our souls together. The first step is to accept each other as our other half, then the second and important step is to claim each other.
I will mark her just above her collarbone and a similar mark will appear just above my heart. This will let everyone know that we belong to each other.
The mark over my heart will prove that she is the one for whom my heart beats for, whereas, hers will symbolize that she is the reason for my sustenance.
Lastly, there will an exchange of a few drops of blood which is the last step to complete the bond.
Well, other things can also be done. However, in our world binding our souls is something which is above every physical connection.
The phone on my table rings as Susan calls me.
“Yes?” I ask impassively, a tone that everyone is used to by now.
“Miss. Michaels has come to meet you,” she hesitantly informs, “I have told her that you have requested not to be disturbed but...” she trails off.
“Send her in, instantly.” I order her, “And next time whenever she comes she will not be stopped, no matter what I ordered, inform this to the main security too.”
Pressing the button, I unlock my office door as I wait for her.
She did not say anything about coming to meet me, but nevertheless, I am happy that she came.
However, my happiness replaces worry when she enters my office with a solemn expression.
“What is wrong?” I ask slightly frowning.
But instead of replying she walks straight to me and just in time I turn my chair as she sits in my lap then wrapping her arms around me she hides her face in my neck.
My arms go around her and, instantly, I feel at peace to have her back in my arms. However, I am concerned too, because I can feel she is troubled and that feeling is enough for me to feel worried.
“What happened?” I gently ask her.
“Just hold me.” She murmurs tightening her hold on me.
She does not need to say twice as I hold her securely against me and I will keep holding her as long as she wants me too.
Nearly after fifteen minutes, a small sigh leaves her lips as she slightly turns in my arms.
“I had a bad day,” she quietly speaks, “Somebody tried to break into the records room. We do not know what their intention was, to steal the records or to destroy them, but still, this is not good.”
“Raymond believes this is one of our rivals’ doings, but we can’t be sure. Maybe this is someone who is pretending to be our ally but actually they want to harm the company.” She exhales a breath, “This is all so confusing.”
Or somebody is trying to harm her.
I completely agree with my beast while anger surges through me thinking about someone thinking to hurt her in any way.
Nobody can touch her, we will shred them into pieces if anyone tried to hurt her.
“Not many people know about this, just a handful of people who reached the record room with me when one of the security informed me about this break in.” Leaning away she runs her hand through her hair, frustration, and anger written all over her face.
“Raymond asked not to tell anyone about this as it will alert them. He will discreetly try to find who is behind this.” She sighs, “For now, we informed everyone in the office that it is not something to worry about, just a normal case of burglary.”
If I had not gathered all the information about this Raymond guy, he would have been my first suspect. But he is someone who was loyal to Michaels and now his loyalty lies with Regina. I know he is lowkey helping her with dealing with all the complicated matters of the company.
“Once I will get my hand on them, I will personally deal with them.” Her impassive tone shows her anger.
We should keep her with us, all the time.
There is nothing which I would love more than this, but this is not the solution.
“You were the only person with whom I wanted to be after everything that has happened.” She keeps her head on my shoulder as a tired sigh escapes her lips.
Kissing her temple, I run my hand up and down her arm trying to comfort her.
“Don’t worry we will sort this out together.” I clench my jaws as my mind running through the ways to keep her safe and also to find the culprit.
Whoever they are, they have dug their grave with their own hands, as the last thing anyone wants is a family of vampires coming after them. Because if you mess with ours, painful death is your fate.
