Chapter 10
Regina’s POV
I woke up in the morning with a bright smile on my face, already looking forward to this day.
Reaching the office, a little earlier than usual I get busy with my work. However, among all the work my mind is constantly going back to Atlas.
Strangely, whenever I think of Atlas the image of King also appears in my mind. Even if it was just a dream, but still, it felt real.
My eyes drift to my mobile and biting my lip I contemplate whether to call Atlas or not. I don’t want to come out as a desperate or a clingy person.
Like I have not behaved like one yesterday.
I scoff thinking to myself.
Yesterday, I was not behaving like myself at all. First, the way I felt with Atlas and then how I reacted when I saw his brother Felix.
Poor guy, whoever hurt him is already in my hate list.
Smiling to myself, I remember how Felix was holding my hand. He seems like a child when he was sleeping, so innocent yet his slightly tilted lips in his sleep giving away his mischievous nature.
I wonder if his eyes are also of violet color, just like his brother’s. Because he shares a great resemblance with Atlas, so the same shade of eyes will not be surprising.
Maybe this color runs in the family.
Finally, when it is almost afternoon I decided to visit them. First I stop at a nearby cafe to buy food, not knowing what they might like so I order everything which I think they might like.
The butterflies in my stomach go crazy when I park my car in front of his house. I was already so excited to meet him, but now my excitement has gone to another level.
This is so crazy.
Sitting in the car for like ten minutes, I try to calm my racing heart. Focusing on my breath, I count each breath while slowly inhaling and exhaling.
Finally, when I am sure my heart is not hammering against my ribcage as I step outside the car.
Carrying the bag of food, I walk to his front door and ring the bell.
I hear the sound of loud and hurried footsteps from behind the door, then a second later door opens as Atlas stands in the doorway.
I can’t help but feel captivated by looking at him, even though I have just seen him yesterday but it feels like so much time has passed since I have seen his face.
“Hi,” He says, while I am still busy looking at him.
“Hi.” Clearing his throat, he again repeats as a smirk appears on his face.
“Hi.” I laugh but don’t tear my eyes away from his face.
Shaking his head at me, he holds my elbow and walks me inside the house. Then closing the door, he turns to me and crosses his arms over his chest, giving more reasons to stare at him like an idiot.
I smile at him and wait for his eyes to glow or the golden ring around his iris to appear as I picture him as King. This almost makes me laughs because of how ridiculous it is to think that he will become King before my eyes.
King was something that my imagination created, while he is real.
A soft smile appears on his lips as he raises his hand to touch my face. This time when the feeling of warmth spreads inside, from his touch, I do not even feel surprised.
Then his eyes move to the food bag in my hand and his entire face hardens.
“What is this?” He narrows his eyes at the bags.
“Food.” I frown in confusion at the sudden change in his behavior.
“Why have you brought this?” He looks at me, his voice is revealing his anger which shocks me, “Are you trying to insult me?”
Insult? What is he talking about?
“Atlas, why are you reacting this way? It is just food.” I narrow my eyes at him and shrug trying to understand the reason behind his reaction.
“Do you think that I will not able to take care of you or to provide for you?” The harshness of his tone makes me flinch, as tears spring to my eyes while my heart is breaking because of his harshness.
Anger leaves his face, as he notices my tears which I hastily wipe.
“Regina...” Softens returns to his voice as he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.
Opening his eyes, he takes a step towards me making me instantly take a step back.
“Don’t,” I swallow and shake my head, still feeling hurt by his behavior, “Stay away from me."
“Please,” he whispers again tries to come close to me.
“I don’t want to talk to you.” I glare at him, as anger replacing the hurt.
“I bought this because I wanted to do something for you.” I raise the food bag in front of him then place it on the coffee table. “I was not trying to insult you or anything. And where does providing for me and all this come from, huh?” Clenching my teeth, I narrow my eyes at him.
“I don’t need you or anyone to provide for me or take care of me.” I shake my head, “I am capable enough for that.”
“Regina,” he speaks looking ashamed and hurt.
“Atlas, I have said not a word.” I glare at him and say each word slowly.
He instantly closes his mouth as he looks at me in shock.
“You have no idea how much mad I am at you, right now.” Exhaling loudly, I try to release some of my anger.
“I feel like smacking your head against the wall.” I point at the wall behind him, “But this house is too beautiful to damage.”
“You are such a...” I grit my teeth trying to find a word for him as I clench my hands into fists.
“Pigheaded?” I hear someone speaks but I don’t bother to look as my glare is fixed at Atlas who is now having a slightly amused expression.
“Yes, pigheaded.” I nod my head, “You are such a pigheaded and...”
“Jerk?”
“Yeah, jerk.” I point at Atlas.
“Egoistic prick?”
“Yes, thank you.” I nod my head again.
“Yeah, you are that, too,” Crossing my arms over my chest, “Egoistic prick.”
“You are all of these words.” I stare at him as now his lips are twitching upwards which obviously confuses me.
“I am sorry,” he says even though there is a small smile on his face but he is sounding genuine. “Please, forgive me, I didn’t mean to sound rude.”
“Why were you so mad at this? This is just food, it is not a big deal.” My anger starts to fade away.
“For me, it was... because it is something which I am supposed to do... to feed you, to take care of you, to protect you.” He looks into my eyes, and suddenly, I can see how much all these things mean to him.
“This is the first time you have talked to me like so I am forgiving you,” I say, “But if next time you repeat anything like this, I swear Atlas, I will make you regret it,” I warn him.
“And I will help you to smack his head.” Someone speaks from beside me.
“Oh, God!” I look at Felix with wide eyes, as he gives me a boyish grin, “What are you doing here? You should be in bed.”
What the hell, Atlas is thinking to allow him to walk around like this?
But instead of replying, he surprises me by hugging me.
I hug him back feeling relieved to see him.
“I am so happy to meet you,” he says still hugging me which makes me laugh.
“Even I am happy to see you fine.” I smile and cup his cheek as he releases me, “Don’t scare me like that ever again.” His unconscious and injured image flashes before my eyes, making my heart clench.
His eyes shine with tears as he smiles and nods his head.
“Wow, even your eyes are violet.” I lightly laugh, looking at his eyes.
“You guys make me envious of your eyes.” I playfully glare at both of them, which makes them laugh.
“Is there a burger in this?” Felix suddenly points at the food which made Atlas go insane.
“Yes, burgers and pizzas, and fried chicken.” I shrug recalling things that I ordered.
“I already love you even more.” He hugs me goes to pick up the bag and looks inside it, “I was craving for burgers.” He walks inside the kitchen.
“Am I forgiven, my queen?” Atlas holds my face gently as he glances at me.
“Yes.” I give him a small smile.
“You know, I saw a very interesting dream last night which almost felt real.” I lightly laugh as I remember King calling me his queen.
“So what was your dream about?” He asks as he runs his knuckle across my jawline leaving warm tingles in its wake.
“I will not tell you, as this something I would like to keep it to myself.” I smile as he playfully narrows his eyes at me.
“Tell me, so I can fulfill your dream.” He looks at me, earnestly.
“No, this dream was too magical to be real.” Shaking my head a small sigh escapes from my lips.
