Her Forever

(Book 2)- Chapter 58

Rosalie

The transportation spell or enchantment that Anana used was nauseating. Lolli and I were both dry heaving at the quick transport. We appeared in an old cabin that was worse for wear. There were cobwebs in the corners of the room, the floorboard were littered with holes and dirt. Bugs were crawling across the counters. There weren’t any electronics in the home and no decorations to be spoken of. It was abandoned and dark as well as the outside, which means we were far from any sort of civilization. My arms and legs were still broken and my back still contorted to a terrible position, holding in the pain was becoming difficult as I laid on the bare floor.

Lolli was sitting on the floor, her legs held up against her chest as a few tears dropped down her face. The look of terror on her face told me she has never dealt with this kind of situation, a situation I was all too familiar with. Pain and lots of it. Being stripped of something happy and then thrown into a dungeon of darkness, never knowing if you will ever emerge or come out. Having this happen to me a third time in my life shows that this might be it. Third times the charm right?

Anana skipped across the room and flew herself into the dusty chair while particles of dirt and dust flew through the air. She started to pick at her nails. “That was truly too easy. I can’t believe it worked. You are weaker than I thought, young Alpha Wolf.” I looked at Lolli who just hung her head lower. Young Alpha?

“You are an Alpha Wolf?” I whispered, feeling the strain in one of my legs as it was about to snap. I grunted and she nodded. “I passed it to my brothers, I knew I wouldn’t be strong enough, I never had my heart in it,” she said shakily. Even though she brought this Witch on our territory, there had to be a reason as to why she did it. She wouldn’t do this out of malice or evil.

“Aren’t you going to ask her?” Anana sat up quickly and patted both of her legs in excitement. “Come on, ask her why she did it!” Her voice was happy, an evil happy that she had just completed the ultimate crime. Being curious myself I looked at her and she wouldn’t look me in the eyes. Shaking her head she finally whispered. “She has my pack being held hostage. If I don’t listen to her, she will burn them alive. The lives of over 100 Wolves are in my hands if I didn’t take you. I’m sorry, I had no choice.”

My heart instantly softened. Bless her having that on her shoulders. “I forgive you,” I smiled back at her softly. Lolli looked at me in surprise and Anana g*****d in the background.

“That was utterly boring! No yelling? Screaming? No cursing her? What the hell? This may have been a mistake, I should have killed you back at the back house.” Anana walked to the fridge and pulled out a purple drink and drank it hastily. “I’ve got things to do. Watch her while I get a few things from the basement. I got to speed this s**t up so we can watch her die faster.” Anana stomped off and left me with Lolli.

“Don’t worry, Jack will find us and Benjamin too.” I gripped my leg as it snapped again and I howled in pain. Lolli couldn’t bear to watch and stayed on the opposite side of the room. I gritted my teeth so I wouldn’t scream and Anana came back stirring something in a bowl. “Just what I like to hear, more painful screams!” She tutted around the room like she was hosting a tea party, my body started shaking and fur was trying to sprout through my body. Small needles started piercing through the skin, now seeing it as fur. Holding in my g****s, Lolli continued to look away.

My suffering was only going to become worse, I still had not heard from my Wolf yet and I had no idea if I was supposed to be concentrating on changing or being a complete blank slate. Anana continued to bustle around the room like she was cleaning, but stopped and sniffed the air. Walking towards me briskly she got right in my face to study me. I held back the insane feeling to reach out and bite her and looked her in the eyes without fear. Feeling more pain than I was feeling now was highly unlikely. She huffed and sniffed at me again adding, “You are starting to stink,” and snapped her fingers and I was instantly transported to a dark room. Groaning at the sudden movement I noticed it was a basement.

Lolli was nowhere to be found and my bones were becoming sore. Another break in my wrist and yelped at the pain. The breaks had finally gotten to me, there was something protruding from my leg. Getting a good look I looked down and saw a bone sticking out from my leg. Shaking at the sight of my leg I took my hand to touch the wound only to get a sickly smell of almonds coming from it. If any of my biology reading told me anything, it let me know that I was becoming infected. I was going to get sick of infection before my Wolf could even heal me.

Laying my head down, I felt a few tears run down my face. Anana and Lolli’s footsteps could be heard above me and mumbling. I couldn’t even concentrate to hear what they were saying, not that it mattered. I was here to die and only then will Lolli’s pack be out of danger. Maybe my life would save 100 but my heart will feel like it was breaking a thousand times over as I died knowing I would never see Jack again. My heart ached for him, my body ached and not just because of the cracks and constant bones breaking but the thought Jack might be feeling this too. He didn’t deserve any of it, hell I didn’t either.

What would have my life been like if my birth parents never gave me up? Would have I ever found my mate then? Would I have had to deal with any of this magical nonsense and the pain? Would we have met regardless of me suffering over the years? Would have I changed anything just for the few short months with Jack? Probably not. I wouldn’t change a thing to be with him. I’d suffer it all over again to live the past two months with Jack. It had been a whirlwind romance just like in any romance novel.

The only part I regret was not giving him an heir, to have a child with him. Would he find someone else? My heart stuttered at that thought.

If there is anything I have learned in all my time being in a terrible place it was not to give up. However, when you are dealing with a pain so unfamiliar and so painful as to rip your body in half to turn you into another creature, it’s hard to focus.

“Marigold?” I whispered. The only person I could trust now was my Wolf, she had to come forward to help me. I couldn’t do this alone, my body and mind needed her too. If I had learned anything from Jack’s mother it was that I needed to put my faith in my Wolf. “Marigold?” I called out again. Resting my head on the cold ground, I closed my eyes and reached for her, she was sitting in the back of my mind.

“Marigold,” I spoke to her internally. “I need your help, we are alone in this and we need each other.” Marigold got up from her sitting position and trotted forwards. My heart skipped a beat as she came closer to me. Holding out my hand to touch her, she didn’t move away. I smiled and she gave me a stiff nod. “Marigold, why are you hiding? I need you, we need to save ourselves, Lolli and her pack. We have to keep going.”

“There she is.” Marigold’s sweet voice licked at my soul. “I was wondering when you would call out to me. You haven’t tried since our first meeting.”

“I, I am sorry, I didn’t know I needed to?” I said panicking.

“No, no, no worries. You didn’t know yet. It is quite early. I’m sorry we were forced to change but the threat of the pack made our body go into overdrive. You have been through a lot and my instincts just came over.” Marigold wagged her tail and purred. “I’m glad you were able to reach out to me, if we were back in our pack they would be coaching you through this and here you are doing it alone. Mate is going to be so proud of us. I’m so happy to have you Rosalie, you are so strong and together we will be even stronger! You should be dead right now, but all on your own you hung on for your mate and the girl upstairs.” I laughed as she continued her monologue. “I will help us the reast of the way alright? Just listen and the Goddess will tell us both what to do, we are far from going to the stars just yet.”

I let out a relieved sob as Marigold rubbed her head against me mentally.

“Girl, we got this. You didn’t need me to be strong, you got that all on your own. We just need a little wolfy power, right?” I nodded my head in agreement. “Now, we are going to speed this up. First let’s get the infection out of our body and then we can speed up our shift.”

Jack

We were driving into the night, Sorceress Bohdi had already felt a disturbance around our pack house just a few hours ago and told us to head North. They had a feeling of the area where Anana had been staying but they weren’t sure of the exact location.

“We’ll get her back,” Keith spoke abruptly. “I know we will.” I nodded my head, not saying anything. “She’s been through a lot of s**t but damn she’s strong as hell. She technically shouldn’t be here after all that’s happened to her, she’s got a strong spirit.” Sampson growled at the thought of how much pain she had been in. I let out a sigh, this s**t was getting old. She deserved the world of how much she had been through.

I fiddled with the radio until we landed on the satellite radio station that had music playing. I left it there and Keith eyed me suspiciously, he was more into punk rock than musicals but my little mate loved musicals. The Greatest Showman’s “This is me” came on and it reminded me of the night she officially opened up to me. She danced her little heart out in that room with Benjamin, the way her arms and legs flowed to the music, how her dainty feet barely touched the floor as she sang to the music.

I wondered if she would teach our children to dance and be carefree? Would she even be carefree after all of this? I wiped my hand down my face in frustration that didn’t go unnoticed by Keith. Stepping on the gas a little harder, the speedometer reached 100 on the open highway. The trail of cars behind us and the Wolves in the forest around us all kept up the pace.

Keith frantically reached for his pocket and pulled out his cell phone that was put on vibrate. “Keith here.” Keith continued to grunt and nod, I tightened my hands on the steering wheel causing it to whine at the pressure. Keith’s eyes grew wide as my claws started to come out and quickly put the cell phone on speaker. ‘

“Like I said,” Bohdi spoke quickly. “We almost have an exact location, we have asked several covens to assist, even some in Bergarian that will transport here within the next few hours. Hades himself is coming from the underworld to grab the demon before it escapes her body. There is more to the story, I’m sure, but a rogue demon inhabited Anana’s body at birth instead of the demon spirit meant for her and her witching powers.”

“Damn, this is ridiculous,” Keith growled.

“A f*****g s**t show this turned out to be,” I ran my hand through my hair. I was going to be bald by the time this was over.

“Just keep heading North Alpha, stop in a town called Farheldra. Be ready for snow,” and she cut the call. We were 100 miles from the small town as Keith pulled it up on his phone GPS. I stepped the gas even further to get there quicker.

Hang on Rosalie, I’m coming for you.
