Heartstrings on Fire

Chapter 779

Chapter 779
Yolanda retorted, “You know exactly what you’ve done, Agnes. If you can’t even respect my position as your Editor, maybe it’s
time you found another job.” Agnes shot back, “I’m a journalist, Yolanda. Are you saying I don’t have the right to publish my
articles?”
“Your rights are given to you by me. If I don’t approve of your actions, you are overstepping your authority if you take it upon
yourself, Agnes. You should resign, Agnes, before I have to report you and tarnish the reputation of this firm
“I’m not resigning. Agnes countered coldly.
“Agnes, I never knew you could be so shameless. Do you think I don’t know what’s going on? Why would the Tim Group get
involved with these stray animals? They’re not a charity. They’re a business. I know it’s because of your shady relation with
Jared. If this gets uncovered, people would say our reporter seduced the CEO. Can you imagine the scandal?”
Agnes, enraged, responded, “You keep accusing me of having an illicit relationship with Jared. Where’s your proof? Even if it
were true, it’s our personal business. Jared called off his engagement. He’s single, and we’re both single, so we’re not violating
any societal norms here.”
Yolanda was fuming at Agnes‘ audacity.
As the tension between the two escalated, the office door swung open. Judson walked in and said, “Agnes, there you are. I’ve
been looking for you.”
Yolanda got up. “Mr. Judson, what brings you here?”
Judson replied, “Agnes wrote a great piece, and it’s getting a lot of attention.”
On hearing it, Yolanda visibly paled.
Agnes interjected, “Director Yolanda assigned me to the story. She knows a good story when she sees one.”
Yolanda clenched her teeth at Agnes‘ insinuation.
Judson merely chuckled, “Yolanda, it’s been a while since the News Department has had a story this good. It’s quite an
accomplishment.”

Yolanda had been on tenterhooks due to her poor performance, even facing potential demotion. It was only after the head of the
TV station intervened that the situation was diffused. If she were to fire Agnes now, Judson wouldn’t let her off easily.
Yolanda just couldn’t understand why Judson favored Agnes. But she forced a smile and said, “Exposing the truth and paying
attention to societal issues is what we should do as a News Department.”
Judson agreed, “The Fabians‘ adoption of stray cats and dogs is very popular among the public. I plan for Agnes to cover it as a
feature story. I’ve even thought of a title, ‘Kindred Spirits.”
Turning to Agnes, he said, “Agnes, I’m counting on you for this. If you run into any trouble, don’t hesitate to contact me.”
Agnes nodded, “Thank you, Mr. Judson.”
As Judson was leaving, he told Yolanda, “This is a special case. Give Agnes some leeway. Let her use the News Department’s
resources as she needs. If that’s not enough, she can approach me.”
Yolanda almost gritted her teeth but managed to say, “Of course, Mr. Judson. Agnes will do a stellar job with this feature.” Judson
nodded and said, “And how’s the promotion video for the Tim Group coming along? Has it been approved yet?”
