Chapter 17
It's been three days since she had left Egypt and the people there behind. Despite the feeling of being home she felt hollow and as she rummaged around in her room putting away laundry, she couldn't help remember the argument that Ra and her had. They had yelled so much and despite her trying to make him understand the reasoning, it didn't end well. Cleo sighed as she closed her closet door and took a deep breath. There wasn't any more tears to shed and it was foolish to think there was some sort of connection between them or there could've been a possible relationship. Looking around her small apartment, her eyes landed on the diary that her dad told her take with her. Cleo tried to avoid the pull that made her want to read more of it but what was the point? There really wasn't a reason to do that now. Shaking her head, Cleo went into the kitchen and made some tea. As she leaned against the counter she couldn't help let her mind wonder into the what if territory. What if Ra had listened to her when she told him she was coming home? Would he have come with her? And if he did, what would've happened to them in the future?
“Shit.” She quickly turned off the stove and removed the over boiling pot of tea before groaning, “way to go Cleo. Just make your misery even worse.” She sighed and poured the tea into a pitcher. Who was she kidding? She couldn't even make a simple pot of tea without getting distracted. Rolling her eyes at her stupidity, she walked back into her room and stared at the book that laid on her desk. Tapping her foot a few times while gripping her cup of tea, her eyes narrowed.
“Fuck it.” Cleo sat in her desk chair and swapped out the book for the cup and took a deep breathe, “I'm so going to regret this.”

I am ashamed to have a god such as Horus be tied to me. But it's just as bad as having to be tied to Set. Everything we have ever known was about to be turned into darkness if it wasn't for Pharaoh Tutankhamun. He saved not only his people but also the world. I didn't think gods could be power hungry when they have all kinds of powers but Set had proved my innocent thoughts wrong. His body is buried and his powers along with his soul have forever been sealed away in a small chamber that lies somewhere within Tutankhamun's tomb. Those who know of its location are down there worth it, so no soul could ever dare to retrieve it. Now I am the official ruler of Egypt and I must do as I see fit and allow no human or good to persuade my judgements on this matter. I will die than let a power hungry god decide the fate of my people. And I am glad to have a friend like Ra to help me on this journey.
Something in her gut turned, making her want to vomit. Cleo had a bad feeling she made a horrible mistake as she glanced from the book and at the secret cubby she had in her floor. The diary said a small chamber, and as she thought back to Tut's tomb, that dreaded feeling only got worse. The treasure chamber was definitely small as it was but she wandered off from the group, almost like she was being called, and found a tiny room in the back. She made sure no one was looking before taking the small jar like item from its resting place and hiding it in her bag before she returned and got separated from Karin. That dreaded feeling became worse as she realized that if what she thought was true then it was really was her fault that Karin almost died.
“Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit!” Scrambling from her chair, she frantically ran into the living room and scooped up her cell phone, quickly dialing a number and waited. “Fuck! Ra, listen to me, it's important and I think I made a horrible fucking mistake. Please for the love of God, call me back!” She tried a few more times only to find herself leaving him the same repeated message before hanging up. Where the fuck was he? As she was dialing a new number, the whole atmosphere in the room changed and any she had died the moment she turned around and found Horus leaning against her couch with a smirk on his face.
“Now tell me, what has the angel of the stars I'm such a panicked, hm?”
A week from the human realm was both nice and totally sucked. Ra sat back in his chair and rubbed his face as most of the other gods dispersed aside from him, his daughter and his parents. It seemed like forever since he last seen and talked to Cleo but then again, she made her choice. Despite all the caution he threw at her for Horus still being out there and a danger she just seemed to brush it off. They had yelled at each other for countless hours before she shedded her tears and he finally gave up and left. He even went as far as turning his phone off just so he wouldn't get any ideas and that just seemed to make the pain in his chest to grow even more than it did before. He thought the pain was just the connection at first but as the pain began to worsen, his mother told him what it really was. The one thing he didn't think, at this point, he would actually survive; heart break.
“When was the last time Horus was seen?” Ptah asked. If anything, his dad was just a glowing blue silhouette of person. The deep and male voice was the only thing that could be made out.
“A few days ago, just wondering around and mingling with the humans until he vanished.” Basat looked dejected. As much as he wanted to comfort her, he knew better. Hell he was feeling the same since he couldn't locate his own twin. A low rumbling sound drifted through the room, making them all look around until a portal opened up a few feet above them before a giant white owl came screeching out.
“Holy shit.” In a blink of an eye, Ra went sailing backwards into the main chamber's wall and got back up grunting before his mouth hit the floor. A giant Raven stood next to the owl before they vanished and stood a very pissed off Karin with white wings on her back and a man with dark wings, who didn't seem to hold any kind of expression at all.
“What the hell have you done Ra?! I ask one thing of you and all hell has finally broken loose!” Her eyes were bright purple now and if he knew anything about that, it was she was going to explode.
“Karin, calm down.” He looked at the man as one of his brushed against her and she managed to relax.
“Ryou, I'm pregnant not a monster.” She sighed.
“I'm not sure why a Japanese deity is here but please, shed some light on the matter.” she narrowed her eyes at the blue apparition and clenched her fists.
“For gods, you're as stupid as stupid as they come if you haven't figured it out.” She growled before her eyes snapped back to Ra, “you… you're just plain ignorant. Not answering your phone at all, it's no wonder you don't know where Horus is.” The questioning look made her want to punch him again.
“Why would my phone have anything to do with this?”
“Horus has Cleo.” Ryou stated matter of factly.
“How would you know?” Basat asked as she made her way to a pale looking Ra. Karin sighed and pulled out her phone then pushed a button on her phone playing what she recorded.
“Horus, I'm telling you now I don't know what you're talking about.”
“Did you know a good can feel the powers of another just by the pulse it gives off? Besides, what surprises me most is how my dear brother didn't feel it when he was near you. And the fact that he isn't here with you.” Horus was clearly amused by the tone in is his voice, “now give me Tut's soul.”
“Go to hell.” There was a lot of noise coming from Cleo's end before a brief silence followed by a snapping sound.
“Tsk tsk, lil star. You shouldn't have lied, after all i always get what I want.” Horus sighed, “if you would've just given me what I wanted I wouldn't have done this.” Silence followed by a small whimper, “of course, you're still a part of this and sadly have to come with me. But this time, no one will be there to save you.” The line disconnected and the recording stopped. The look on Ra's face was one Karin had seen and felt first hand. But she knew the guilt was even heavier within him when he played his voicemail of Cleo pleading for Ra to answer, her tone frantic and scared. He looked at her and she knew his feelings ran deeper than he ever let on.
“What's the plan?”
