Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Gianna finally recognized me. Her face turned red and pale, and there was strong hostility in her eyes. However, she didn’t dare to provoke
- me.
I sat down with my mother and began complaining, “I didn’t want to come here in the first place. Frederic insisted that. It’s so boring.”
“Look at you. This is a serious matter How could you say that it’s boring?” My mother held my hand. Though she was lecturing me, her tone was full of love.
I glanced at Gianna and chatted with my mother as if I didn’t see
anything. “I’m just telling the truth. Mom, I asked Marcel to get me a few maids. I suddenly feel like gaining weight. Frederic said that I was so skinny that I needed to eat and sleep more.”
Gianna bit on her red lips, looking uncomfortable from enduring the
anger.
“You should do it a long time ago. You two live in a big house. How can you manage it alone?” My mother agreed with me.
“I just want to be with him, but now I’ve had enough of it.” I made my words vague. Anyway, Gianna was just an insignificant passerby in Frederic’s life. She was not as important as Emilia. I didn’t need to be wary of her.
Gianna suddenly stood up and left in a hurry.
Jayleen followed closely behind Gianna. Perhaps, she felt embarrassed.
I waited until the party was over. I didn’t want to go back with
Frederic. Instead, I wanted to go to my parents‘ place and be with them.
“I’ll be leaving now.” Frederic wouldn’t care where I was as long as I didn’t make him ashamed.
My father was still happily chatting with his friends, not even caring about the finished party. My mother gave me the car key and asked me to wait for her at the parking lot, adding that she would think of a way to stop my father’s chat.
I went to the underground parking lot with the car key and found my father’s car. Just as I was to get into the car, I saw Frederic and Gianna messing with each other.
Gianna tugged at Frederic’s clothes aggrievedly. “You’re so good to mé. How can your feelings for me be fake? I don’t believe it!”
“It’s up to you. Leave me alone.” Frederic shook off Gianna’s hand.
This was who Frederic was. He would turn his back on the women he
was uninterested in.
Frederic just gave Gianna a house. How could Gianna think of her as his true love just because of this?
Frederic saw me out of the corner of his eyes, and his disgusted and annoyed eyes were fixed on me as if was the woman pestering him.
I immediately got into the car and locked the door. If not for waiting for my parents, I’d have sped away.
Seeing me hide away, Frederic walked directly to the car for no reason. He knocked on the window. I could read his lip language. He was asking me to get out.
I frowned, shook my head, and replied to him in lip language as well, “I won’t do that.”
Then, my phone rang. The call was from Frederic. “Sylvia, get the hell
out!“.
“I don’t want to come in between you and her,” I looked outside the window at Frederic’s furious eyes and answered.
I had figured it out. If I couldn’t divorce Frederic before he met Emilia, I’d put up with it until he proposed to divorce. All I needed to do was immediately agree so I could get some of the Hudson Group’s shares.
In my previous life, Frederic proposed a divorce with me and told his family about it after pursuing Emilia for a year.
I rejected it and was in a battle with him for almost a year. I failed in the end.
I always thought about revenge after my reincarnation. That was the groundless obsession. My previous life was more like a dream while my current life was the reality where tragedies were yet to happen. I didn’t want to become crazy for a mere nightmare.
“Get out!” Frederic was furious. Perhaps, he never saw me reject him.
Gianna walked over in tears. She tugged at Frederic’s clothes and refused to let go.
She was quite a celebrity. Why was she pestering Frederic? I seemed to have seen the other version of me. I didn’t have the right to look down on Gianna.
Frederic shot daggers at me and then grabbed Gianna’s hand. He took her to his car. Seeing him driving away, I heaved a sigh of relief.
When my parents went into the car, almost fell asleep.
“Why do you have so much to say? Syl almost falls asleep!” My mother reprimanded my father.
“The project in the south of the city has some problems. We need
approval from the government, so we have to discuss it,” answered my father while fastening the seatbelt.
I sat in the backseat in dizziness.
Every time I dreamed in the past, I would be pursuing Frederic in it, but now, my dream was all about my previous life as if the heavens didn’t want me to forget the tragedies I had been through.
“Mom, I want to have some fried chicken you cook.” Seeing me sit at the back, my mother sat beside me. I held her hand and leaned on her.

I smelled my mother’s scent. It was comforting and warm.
In my previous life, my parents stayed by my sickbed and cried their hearts out when I was about to die. Their hair turned gray overnight from the tragedy.
“It’s so late. How can I cook for you?” My mother slapped my hand with a bit of annoyance. “What happened to you today? Did you argue with Frederic? You would be away from home for months in normal times.”
“I was overwhelmed by love!” I said with a smiling face. “I prefer being your sweet daughter.”
People around me more or less knew my unrequited love for Frederic. When my mother heard what I said, she was surprised, and my father even turned the steering wheel in the wrong direction.
“Do you not like Frederic anymore?” asked my father.
I did, but it didn’t affect my decision to let go.
I couldn’t keep Frederic around me in the end. He didn’t belong to me but Emilia, the young and beautiful girl.
“Dad, I’ve been married to him for five years. Love is no longer what we talk about. I just feel that I should do something else instead of being around him,” answered I straightforwardly.
“That makes sense. Look at Frederic. He’s never free from scandals. I couldn’t put up with it anymore!” My father suddenly became confident, and his words were filled with obvious dissatisfaction.
He didn’t say it before because I was obsessed with Frederic and he was afraid that I would hate it.
I echoed, “That’s right. He’s just a jerk!”
As soon as I started this topic, my parents let out their dissatisfaction with Frederic. Only then did I know how much anger they had endured for me.
I felt both bitter and guilty! I couldn’t even raise my head.
When we got back home, it was late at night. I went to sleep after taking a shower. I didn’t know how long I had been sleeping when my mother knocked on the door. I asked in a daze, “Mom, what’s the matter?”
“Didn’t you say that you wanted some fried chicken? I made some for you. Would you eat some before sleeping?”
I immediately sobered up. Sitting on the bed in a trance for a few seconds, I felt tears well up in my eyes.
I hadn’t cried after my reincarnation. I would just be startled awake and feel uncomfortable after dreaming about the painful scenes in my previous life. I had become numb from the pain and wouldn’t find it unacceptable.
But I couldn’t help crying when my mother made me the fried chicken I wanted to eat at midnight.
