Chapter 60
Adella Arcos - POV
“Where are we going?” I asked Jose when we just passed by the city and entered the highway.
“You told me to surprise you, so that is what I am doing,” he answered before he turned his attention back to the road. We passed by an array of endless forests before he slowed down and took a sharp left, entering a smaller road. My heart started to palpitate while I thought maybe he was going to murder me here. “Relax, Adella,” Jose said with a smile on his face, and when I was about to speak, I saw the outline of the buildings at a distance.
We were approaching a pack, and from the way the warriors we passed by smiled at us, I knew that this must be the Crescent Creek pack. It was truly stunning with all its historical buildings, and lush green environment, but it also made me wonder as to why he brought me in here. We passed by a lot of people and buildings when he finally stopped the car at the edge of the forest.
“Let's go,” Jose said before he turned off the engine and got down, and I did the same.
“Where are we going?” I asked him as he started walking onto a narrow path in the forest, and I followed him.
“A place you will fall in love with soon.” was all he replied before he turned around and continued walking. The deeper we walked into the forest, I gradually began to hear the sound of chatter and laughter. The narrow mud path slowly winded and finally opened into a vast expanse of land with a waterfall in front.
There were a lot of artificial slides, floats, and other water equipment in the waterfall, which made me open my mouth in awe. “Wow, this place looks like a miniature water park.” I gasped, and I saw a victorious smirk on his face. Not only were there water games, but there were other games as well and a beautiful open cafe just a few meters away from the waterfall. All in all, this looked like a carnival in here.
“Alpha Dylan designed this a few years ago so that our pack members do not have to leave the pack to do all this fun stuff.” Jose began explaining.
“But, aren't there any rocks in that lake?” I asked him, briefly looking at the water slides where adults and children were both sliding down into the lake. “Since it’s not really an artificial waterfall.”
“Well there were a lot of rocks, and it did take us weeks to clear them all. This project wasn't easy, but for the welfare of the people, we decided to do this.” Jose explained before he held my hand and led me towards a cabin.
“Which one do you like?” Jose asked me as we entered a swimwear shop. I looked around before I finally purchased a two-piece lavender suit, and thankfully, Jose didn't come forward to pay, even though I noticed that he badly wanted to do exactly that.
“Why don't you change and come, I will wait outside,” he asked me, and I nodded my head.
“Where am I going to keep all my things?” I asked him.
“There are lockers inside, you can keep it inside there,” he said, and I nodded my head, and walked inside. After changing my clothes, I walked out when I saw that Jose was also ready, wearing a swimming trunk.
“Shall we go?” he asked me, and I nodded my head before we walked out. Before entering the water, we did all the other activities like rock climbing, ring toss, spinning the wheel, and many more. I didn't know how time flew by, but today I truly enjoyed it. Jose made sure to take me on most of the rides that were there, and when it was starting to get dark, the entire place was brought to life with fairy lights and other sparkling lights.
“I will meet you at the cafe?” Jose asked me as I was walking towards the locker to get my clothes again. I nodded my head and walked into the cabin. After changing my clothes, I made my way into the open cafe.
Jose was waiting for me at a corner table. “What do you want to eat?” he asked me and passed me the menu.
“I will have a lamb tenderloin,” I said after ordering our food we waited in silence. The ambiance of the place looked very romantic and innovative. The wooden table had a glass top, and inside the glass, there were lit-up candles and rose petals. I had never seen such a design before, but it was truly beautiful. After having our dinner, Jose paid for the food before we walked back to the car.
“Did you enjoy today?” Jose asked me as he merged into the highway again.
“I did,” I said before we became quiet again. With the continuous tapping on the steering wheel, I knew that he wanted to ask something more from me, but I kept quiet. When we reached my house, I got out of the car.
“Do you want to go out on another day like this?” Jose asked me.
“Sure,” I said before I walked into the building. It was a magical day today not because I spent it with my mate but because Jose gave me space and we spoke to each other without any secrets between us. I was so lost in my dream world that I didn't first see the box on my carpet till I knocked it.
The smile on my face vanished while a cold shiver ran down my spine. One thing was certain, Jose wasn't the person sending me all these strange gifts, and even though I didn't want to think about him, my gut feeling was telling me that beta Lanzo was behind all this.
I took the box with my trembling hands and walked into my apartment building. The moment I closed the door, a gust of cold wind blew in my direction, making goosebumps form all over my body.
