Gamma’s Destined Mate.

Chapter 41

Summer Quinn - POV

I got up from my place and walked into our closet. After changing my dress, I came back out and quickly did a ponytail and light makeup. “Where are you going?” Vince asked me, and I only smiled at him before I took my eyeliner and did a smoky look for my eyes to make me look more badass.

“I am going to go and meet Jose,” I said, and this made Vince’s eyes slightly widen in shock.

“Isn't it pretty late to go and meet him now?” Vince asked me, and I looked up at the time to see that it was only seven.

“No, I think it is dinner time at the pack house right now. This would be the best time to confront him about this.” I said, and after applying a generous coat of red lipstick, I took my bag and turned around to face him. “I will see you later,” I said, grabbed my bag, and placed a chaste kiss on his forehead before I marched out of my house.

The streets were partially deserted except for a few people who were walking back home. When I reached the pack house, I opened the door and entered. The hallway was crowded with people, some with glasses of juice in their hands, others with plates of food. I didn't go in further, instead, I stood near the doorway and dialed Jose’s number.

He didn't pick up at all, and when I was about to hang up, he answered the call. “Hello?”

“Jose, it's Summer. Can I speak to you now?” I asked him in the most polite voice.

“It's quite late, Summer. Maybe we can meet and talk tomorrow. Bye.” he said.

“I went to the Mountain Creek restaurant today with Adella, I thought you would like to know.” I hurriedly said before he could disconnect the line. I didn't hear anything from his end, so I pulled the phone away from my ears to see that he was still online.

“What are you talking about?” Jose’s voice came out harsh, and I knew that I must have hit a nerve.

“I will be waiting for you at the cafe,” I said and then disconnected the call. In the beginning, I planned to meet him here and talk to him about this situation, but after his attitude toward me, I think it's better if he comes to find me.

I looked around the crowded hallway one last time before I walked out of the house. When I arrived at the cafe, I ordered a cup of hot chocolate, made my way to a secluded place in the cafe, and took a seat.

I only took one sip of my beverage when I heard the bells above the door ring, and Jose rushed into the cafe. He didn't see me at first, so he walked towards the counter. “Gamma Gomez, would you like to have anything?” the woman behind the counter asked him, but I noticed him taking a sniff of the air. His eyes roamed all over the place before it landed on me.

“I will have a cup of Americano,” he said and placed some cash on the counter before he walked towards me.

“What do you know?” he asked me the moment he reached my table. A thin layer of precipitation was visible on his forehead, and he looked tense.

“Take a seat, Jose. We have a lot of time to discuss that.” I said, pointing to the chair opposite mine. When he was about to protest, I raised an eyebrow at him, challenging him to speak against me. He mumbled something under his breath before he took a seat.

“What do you know?” he asked me. His tone sounded defeated, and there was not a hint of anger there at all. For a fraction of a second, I felt bad for him, but that feeling soon vanished when Adella’s face appeared on my mind.

“I think it would be better if you see it first,” I said, took my phone out from my bag, took the picture, and slid my phone towards him. He stared at that picture for a long time before he looked up at me.

“I will not deny, but I did propose to someone else a few weeks ago,” he said. I didn't expect him to accept right away, but alas, he did make my work easy. “Did Adella see this?” he asked me. I didn't answer him right away, because ironically, I liked seeing him scared and nervous, so I prolonged the moment as much as I could before I let out a sigh.

“Not yet, but I desperately wanted to drag her from her seat and show her this,” I said and I know that he must have clearly sensed the anger in my voice. “You know how deeply she loves you, right?” I asked him.

“I do, Summer. But this happened before I found out Adella was my mate,” he argued, and I nodded my head.

“Okay, now that you have found your mate, are you planning to break up with the woman that you proposed to?” I asked him. I expected him to nod his head and tell me that he was in the process of explaining the situation to that woman, instead, he remained silent.

“I am not sure,” he mumbled, and this made my eyes widen in surprise.

“What the hell do you mean you are not sure?” I raised my voice at him, and this made the few people who were in the cafe to turn around and stare at us.

“You have no idea about the situation I am in, Summer. So don't you dare raise your voice at me!” Jose warned me, but I didn't care.

“It is a simple decision, Jose. Either you live with your fiancee, or you accept Adella. Why do you feel like this is very hard?” I asked him.

“I am trying to figure out how to tell my fiancee the truth, Summer. A…”

“How long are you planning to take for that?” I asked him.
