Chapter 39
Summer Quinn - POV
Even after the waitress walked away from there, I still couldn't will my legs to move, nor my eyes to look elsewhere. It was like my eyes were glued to that one picture, particularly the man with a huge smile plastered on his face. I only suspected that Jose might have a girlfriend outside, but now I guess this photo frame stands as proof.
This picture not only confirms my suspicion but it is like a one-way ticket to destroy Adella’s happiness, and I am sure as hell not going to let that happen.
“What are we going to do now?” Riya, my Wolf, asked me, but I was clearly able to hear the anger in her voice.
“I desperately want to pull Adella from that chair and show her this, but my logical side is telling me that it is not a great idea,” I told her while Riya shook her head.
“So, are we going to just let this slide, and not do anything about this?” she questioned, and I shook my head.
“There is no use showing this to Adella right now, I guess we will have to speak to the guest of honor in here,” I spoke.
“You mean the woman who is in Jose’s arms?”
“No, Jose himself. Adella would be broken into a million pieces if I showed this picture to her now, but if Jose rejects her without her knowing about this, the pain will be less. And this is exactly what I am going to do.” I said.
“Well, I guess that is a great idea,” Riya said, and I looked around me before I pulled out my phone and took a quick picture of the frame because I knew Jose might not believe me if I just confronted him without any solid proof. I walked to the washroom, and after finishing my business there, I walked back out to see Adella was lost in the view in front of us, she only turned around to acknowledge me when she heard the chair scrap back.
“You have been gone for a long time,” she said.
Adella Arcos - POV
“Well, there was a queue in the bathroom.” Summer said, but her eyes were telling a whole different story. “Do you want dessert?” Summer asked me, but looking at my empty plate and the two cups of coffee that I drank, I knew that I would not be able to eat anymore.
“No, if I eat one more bite, I might burst,” I said and patted my belly to show her.
“Okay, so shall we go?” she asked me, and that was when I became suspicious about her behavior.
A few minutes back, Summer was completely immersed in this environment and the spectacular view in front of us, but now, why does she want to leave?
“Don't you want to spend more time in here?” I asked her, and she shook her head.
“There are still a lot of places for us to explore in this town, so I don't think we should waste our time here,” she said, I found her explanation reasonable, so I nodded my head and got up from my place.
“Okay, give me five minutes, I will go to the washroom and come,” I said, and I only took one step when I felt Summer’s hand around mine.
“The washroom is not that clean, and I don't think you would want to spend a long time in that horrendous queue.” Summer quickly said, and this made me narrow my eyes at her.
“But I want to go to the washroom, Summer. I mean, how are we going to….”
“We will go back to the room to freshen up and then go sightseeing,” she said, and I nodded my head even though I wanted to ask her about her odd behavior.
“Why don't you go and wait in the car, I will pay the bill and come outside to meet you?” she asked me, and I shook my head.
“You are acting like I am the pregnant woman in here, Summer. Why don't you go…”
“Please go and sit in the car, Ella. I will take care of everything.” Summer interrupted me, and with a heavy sigh, I nodded my head and left the restaurant. I was only standing outside for a couple of minutes when she quickly came back, and then we drove back to the hotel room. When we arrived, we made our way to our room, and while Summer was in the washroom, I took out my phone from the bag to check if Jose had texted me.
There were three messages from him and two missed calls.
Why didn't I hear my phone ring?
I turned it to the side to see that my phone was put to silent. I quickly called him, and Jose answered the call on the fourth ring. “I am so sorry, I didn't call to inform you yesterday,” I said hurriedly when he answered the call.
“Relax, Adella. I did call your number yesterday, and when you didn't answer, I called Vince, and he told me, you guys had gone out on a girl's trip,” he explained, and that was when I let out a relieved sigh.
“But still, I should have informed you since I invited you to dinner.”
“Ella, you did. But that's all right. Anyway, how is your trip?” he asked me, and this made a smile appear on my face.
“Great, I am enjoying it a lot,” I said before I began telling him everything I saw here, and when I was about to tell him about the part where I went to the mountain cafe, Summer walked out of the bathroom. “I will call you back later?”
“Sure, I will you here then?”
“Bye,” I said, and then I disconnected the call. “Shall we go?” I asked Summer, and she nodded, but I noticed an annoyed look on her face.
“Are you okay?” I asked her when we stepped out of the hotel, and she nodded her head.
“Don't worry about me. Let's enjoy the remaining few hours before we head back home,” she said with a smile, and I nodded my head.
