Gamma’s Destined Mate.

Chapter 33

Gamma Jose Gomez - POV

“Jose!” Elena screamed in excitement when she saw me standing in front of her hotel room. If it was a few weeks back, I would have immediately run towards her and pulled her into a hug, but now I just stood near her doorway with a wary smile on my smile. “I have been dying to see you all day,” she exclaimed and opened the door wider for me to enter. When I entered, she closed the door behind her and quickly wrapped herself around me.

“I missed you too,” I whispered into her ears. To be honest, I did miss her. I missed that smile on her face, and her constant chatter, but it no longer pains me to be separated from her.

“So, shall we go for the cake tasting today?” she asked me when she pulled back, and I nodded my head. “Give me five minutes, I will quickly grab my things,” she said and stepped away from me, ran to her bed, and grabbed her handbag.

“How was your journey?” I asked her, and she shuddered her shoulder.

“To be frank with you, it was boring for me to drive all the way here alone in the car without your company,” she said, and I shook my head.

“Is that because you miss annoying me when I drive?” I asked her, and a mischievous smile formed on her face.

“Maybe,” she said, and her eyes moved briefly to the clock in her room before it connected with mine. “Come on, let's go. It's getting late,” she said and grabbed my hand. We soon left the small hotel and walked out into the pack town.

“What have you told the bakery, Elena?” I asked her when we began approaching the bakery. The streets were crowded today, and a lot of passersby gave us questioning looks, but I don't think they would suspect anything was going on between us since I made sure that there was a considerable amount of distance between Elena and me.

“I told them I want to order a wedding cake, but I didn't tell them for whom yet,” she answered, and I nodded my head while I mentally thanked Elena for not exposing our relationship yet. When we were getting close to the bakery, the smell of baked goods invaded my nostrils, making me momentarily close my eyes in bliss. “Shall we go inside?” Elena asked me, and I nodded my head and held the door open for her to enter before I walked in.

“Good morning.” the motherly old lady behind the cashier greeted us with a warm smile on her face. “It's nice to see you back in town, Gama Gomez,” she told me, and I only nodded my head.

“Hello, I am Elena Lopez. I spoke to you over the phone last week.” Elena spoke, and the woman nodded her head.

“Of course, dear. I remember you. You wanted to order a wedding cake, am I right?” she asked, and Elena nodded her head. “Come on this way.” the woman said and walked out of her cashier and directed us to a table overlooking the town. “You both sit and relax, and I will just go and grab the cakes and coffee,” she said, and we nodded our heads before she disappeared into a door, which must be the kitchen.

“Do you want to have anything else, Jose?” Elena asked me, and I shook my head, which made a frown appear on her face. “You wouldn't mind if I ask you something, right?” Elena asked me.

“No, what is it?”

“Um, did so…”

“Sorry to keep you guys waiting.” the woman came back to our table with her tray, which made Elena stop mid-sentence. She placed four plates in front of us and took a seat on the vacant chair.

“What are the flavors?” Elena asked her, while she took her fork and began tasting the first cake.

“The first one you are having is the signature red velvet cheese cake, but with a tropical twist.” the woman explained and both of us tasted that. This went on for the rest of the three cakes. While Elena gave her a few suggestions for improvements here and there, I remained quiet.

“So, we have come to a decision, right?” Elena asked me, and I nodded my head. “Great, we will go with the red velvet with a tropical twist,” she said, and the woman nodded her head and wrote something down in her notebook.

“All right, I have written down everything,” she said when she finally looked up at both of us. “If you guys don't mind, can I ask you something?”

“Sure,” Elena said with a smile on her face.

“I have never seen you with Gamma Gomez before, so I was wondering…” She dragged her sentence, and I knew what she wanted to know.

“No, we are not mates,” I answered before Elena could say something, and I felt the uneasiness from her.

“Yeah, we are just friends, and this cake is for one of my best friends.” Elena lied, and the old woman nodded her head. After purchasing a few cakes from her shop, we walked out of there and on our way back to Elena’s hotel room.

“I thought you would have told her that I was your mate.” Elena began, and I briefly glanced at her before looking ahead again.

“I wanted to, but I felt like this was not the right time.”

“You do know that we are going to get married soon, right?” Elena asked me, and I was able to hear the suspicion in her voice.

“I know, but let me first finish my training session in that pack and come here,” I told her, but she didn't look satisfied.

“I feel like you have changed, Jose.”

“What are you talking about?”

“A few weeks back, you never even had the heart to leave my side, and you would always make sure that you give me a kiss before we head out somewhere, but today.” she stopped in her tracks and turned around to face me.
