Galaxy Of Hope

Chapter They're here (1)

Andrew and Oak sat on either side of me at the round table. We were just about finishing our second course when the feeling happened again. All the thoughts about my birth parents tumbling in my brain like a washer machine. I drew in a sharp breath. Dosch, Vincent and Sebastian all glanced my way. Even Mourad, who was standing at the far wall in front of me, glanced my way as well. Had I been that loud? Ash and Jax had been in a hushed conversation and had not noticed until Dosch asked. ‘What is it, Carina?’ I put down my napkin, the hairs on my arms standing on attention.

‘I don’t-’ I exhaled. I was being stupid thinking they would find me crazy. ‘Something is wrong.’ I whispered to Andrew. Panic in my eyes. I was afraid he would find me silly but he didn’t. He immediately tensed up. Ash and Jax were now also staring. Oak grabbing my knee to comfort me.

‘Something is wrong?’ Vincent laughed. ‘What are you, an oracle?’

‘Don’t make fun of her.’ Dosch said at the same time Ash growled.

Another shiver ran down my spine and I jumped up. ‘Something’s coming.’ I glanced to the door, Dosch signaled for Mourad to call Marcus who was at the front entrance. He did a no response sign. It was all systems go at that point.

‘Barricade the doors.’ Dosch ordered. Vincent’s Libra’s and the Scorpio’s by the door got into motion, but it was too late. The doors flew open with an eerie blast, blowing away everything on the table and us with it.

‘Lux!’ I heard Ash yell. He was hurt. He had been blown against the farthest wall. Sebastian was unconscious. I had landed on Oak, next to Vincent. Both of them scrambling upright. Whoever was attacking us right now, had all the powerful Rainers, besides the council, in one room. We had been stupid and had most definitely been betrayed. Or was this Vincent’s work?

Andrew had been hit by something, his cheek was bleeding. He was upright first though and running my way. Nothing came through the door, which was even stranger and the Libra’s were now barricading it again. Oak’s powerful arms had already pulled me upright and were now covering me, shielding me. From behind me Dosch arrived, gun out and pointed to the closed door. ‘Get behind us!’ he said to Oak and me. Vincent moved with us, the fucking coward. Shielding himself behind Oak. He knew the safest place in here was behind me, because all of them would lay down their lives before I would be up. Jax had a steak knife in his hand, ready to spar. Ash had put Sebastian in the nook behind the table, shielding his body from a potential blow-up. Oak, Dosch and Andrew got into military mode instantly.

‘Exits?’ Andrew clicked the safety of his gun off and stepped next to Dosch, both of them now in front of me and Oak. And Vincent.

‘Two. But both are outside this main door.’ Oak replied.

Ash had joined Jax and had two steak knives in each hand now. Oh, shit was about to get ugly.

The two others were flanking each side of the door, with their backs against the wall. Mourad and two angry looking Libra’s were standing right in front of it, guns raised. Ready for whoever came through. Three Scorpio’s were flanking Dosch and Andrew, and therefore also us. Guns raised as well. My heart was beating so fast I was going to faint. I was worried about Sebastian, all alone in the crook. He was also not at all safe if anyone got in and found him unconscious. The shivers increased so hard and so fast I took in another sharp breath. ‘They’re here.’ I whisper screamed, Oak hugged me tighter.

Little did we know that they would not come through the entrance, but a whole army fell down the ceiling at once.
