Galaxy Of Hope

Chapter See

For the umpteenth time in the last year I woke in a strange room with my head pounding up a storm. It was a fancy small hospital room. With everything decorated with gold accents and my sheets in white silk. Even the monitor next to me, was lined in pure gold and was beeping away silently. My heart rate was apparently steady, by the panic I was feeling I was not sure how that was possible. I tried glancing at my hands, but they were frail white and covered in needle marks. Fuck, what has happened to me?

I took in a deep breath. The curtains were closed so I could not see outside to tell the time of day. As I was glancing to the windows I saw and now also heard, the steady breaths of someone sleeping.

The door to the left of the room opened slowly and a tall figure, carrying a fluid pole, in a hospital gown stepped inside hesitantly. Not trying to wake anyone. I stayed motionless for a second, not sure if I wanted anyone to know I was awake yet. But when I glanced at the tall silhouette, a range of hair so wild and in disarray, I knew it was Sebastian.

‘Seb?’ I croaked. My voice a hard rasp.

He took in a deep breath. ‘Hey, concussion buddy. Are you awake, love?’ he drawled. Both relief and happiness in his voice at the same time. It also stirred the person sleeping in my room awake. Concussion buddy?

‘Where am I?’ I asked. Sebastian switched on the dimmed lights, but they were still too bright and I flinched.

‘Barrington, what the hell do you think you’re doing!’ Growled the sleeping beauty. It was Ash. His hair equally in disarray and his black sweatpants low on his hips. As he rose to give Sebastian some more hell, he glanced my way and froze. He had not noticed I was awake yet until now. ‘Sweet cheeks?’ he said, full of surprise. I was moved by having him sleep next to my hospital bed, considering our relationship hadn’t been great in the last few months and I truly, utterly missed him in every sense of the word. I had to blink back tears at the simplicity of him taking watch over me.

Sebastian had made it to my bedside in the meantime. He could even rock that butt ugly dark blue hospital gown like a rockstar. He had made a fashionable cut next to one of his shoulders, making the gown seem like it had seen an apocalypse but somehow made it catwalk ready. He looked rough though. White as a ghost, cuts and bruises everywhere. What the hell happened? I had said that out loud again because when I glanced to my right Ash was holding my hand softly.

‘Do you remember anything, sweetheart?’

I did not and shook my head.

‘What is the last thing you remember?’ Sebastian asked this time.

I thought about that for a second. ‘I remember us flying in that private yet. I had a Maverick on the plane. There was some bickering about the room arrangements in the hotel and…’ that was it. It all went black after the hotel. ‘Did something happen after we left the hotel? Did Vincent hurt us?’ I asked, suddenly scared. ‘Are the others alright? What happened to you Seb?’

Panic flared and my heart monitor started beeping faster.

‘Relax.’ Ash placed his hand on my forehead. ‘Everyone is fine.’ He looked at Sebastian. ‘Besides, of course that one and Oak had about seven aneurysms because of you being hurt.’

‘What do you mean? Why am I here anyway?’

Sebastian and Ash exchanged glances. ‘Don’t worry about that right now. you have some healing to do.’

‘I want to know. I want to see the others.’ I needed to physically see them to be sure they were okay. The mating bond screaming at me to check on them.

‘It’s the middle of the night, they are asleep, sweetheart.’

I swallowed. ‘Am I alright?’ I felt a little off. I couldn’t really breathe right and my words felt heavy on my lips.

They again exchanged glances. ‘You’ll be good to go in a few days.’ Sebastian said solemnly. But there was more, there was always more.

‘I really don’t want to explain right now, sweet cheeks. You need to sleep. Just know, everything is fine and everyone is fine. You are in no danger.’ He kissed my forehead tenderly and I practically melted. Sebastian yawned. ‘Well, if my bed could fit in this room I would roll it right up, but it will not.’ He kissed my lips softly. ‘I will be next door though, see you in the morning, little bird.’ He scuffled back outside with a swagger in his step, his naked ass on display. He did a slight twerk for me, making me giggle. I turned to Ash.

‘Will you stay here tonight?’ I asked softly.

‘Of course, I’ll be right here.’ He answered.

My eyelids were feeling heavy and I fell asleep again.
